Recently I had to fix a Miele dishwasher and found this excellent video. I was able to replace the faulty valve successfully, however, with some modifications. I felt not protecting the electrical terminals inside a hard case was unsafe. My solution was using a different water inlet valve: DD62-00084A (for Samsung Dishwasher). The inlet and outlet of this valve are aligned along a straight line (same as Miele’s original valve). Modifications were necessary for fitting the new valve inside the original plastic case, and they included: 1) trimming down (using grinder + cut off disk) the metal plate of the new valve; 2) cutting off the “neck” of the original plastic case at the “water supply” end and slightly enlarging (elongateing) the opening; 3) shaving off some interior parts of the plastic case so that the new valve could fit inside the case. (Note: this method works better if the inlet hose is not shortened)

This is a really great fix! I've already replaced one hose assy. on our older Miele. So - I got all my tools out and undid the valve assy., looked into the inlet and... the filter basket had junk in it!! Obviously this reduced in-flow. Cleaned and reinstalled. Code is gone. Also, I recall the instructions on the new hose was to mount the solenoid VERTICALLY. A Miele rep said this was important for longevity. So, thanks, dude! This saved me hundreds.

So I ordered the valve from Amazon for $30. Couldn’t get the part you listed but went to the large improvement store and got Everbilt 3/8 in mip x 3/8 in fip street elbow (LFA-78265) and a 3/8 in od x 3/8 in mip adaptor (LFA-123). Followed the video and bingo! Thank you for also saving marriages!!!

Thanks so much Scott. I followed your instructions and it seems everything works now. Before I had the "Open water intake supply" (or something like that) fault. Wasn't sure this would fix it because I figured there could be lots of things that could lead to this fault. But I also felt this was the most likely culprit. Got the valve on Amazon because I could return it if this wasn't the problem. Other parts were from Home Depot. You saved me hundreds of dollars!

    Absolutely Amazing Video!!
Was about at wit’s end & ready to toss my beloved Miele dishwasher; when I gave this a try- worked like a charm! I have little to no experience with plumbing or electrical; yet was able to solve the issue for $45 thanks to this very informative and helpful tutorial.
I wish Miele had a different code for faults at intake & faults at drain- it would make finding the issue faster! To rule out a drain issue, I reset the fault light, poured pitchers of water into the dish washer, started it up, could hear it draining normally, then the fault light came back on- so I narrowed it down to a fill issue & this seemed to be the culprit part.
Currently, the link provided in the video for the elbow adapter was sold out. At my local hardware store- I figured out the adapter needed is 3/8” pipe to 3/8” compression. Took me a minute to realize those are different measurements.
Infinite gratitude for providing me with the skills to maintain my Miele!

Hey Scott. Dropping a quick line to thank you for your video. I just finished the procedure and so far it is working as usual. I have a Miele G892 SCU PLUS; it's about 13 years old. For those of you asking if the GE valve will work for your particular model, just check that the voltage (V) and Hz match the original valve. The GE Valve that Scott specified in the video matched the Miele Valve specs: 110-120V 60Hz. I ended up spending $83 bucks (water valve, 3/4 stainless water hose, elbow, electrical tape).
I had called Miele Service and they quoted me the following:
$155 for the diagnostic (a 5-7 day wait time for someone to show up)
    $ 90/hr for labor
$ 110 for the entire hose with the valve

Scott: I installed the valve from the link you provided, after watching this video. Worked perfectly for my 19 year old Miele G858 SCVi PLUS. The compression fitting elbow that came with the valve didn't work in my situation, since I had to connect to a 3/4" male garden hose fitting that the plumber had soldered onto a shut off valve for the dishwasher. But my local hardware store had the fittings I needed. So, for $45 for the valve + fittings I saved over $500, based on my last valve replacement in 2013. THANKS!!

  • @mabanaheights

I did this and it worked great. Not only is it much cheaper, $50 compared to about $400 - $500 for a service call, but fast. No scheduling the service call. I bought my valve at a local appliance parts store and had the job done within 24 hours of the failure. This is important because I don't think life as we know it is possible without a working dishwasher! Make sure you cut the hose back as Scott mentions. I skipped this step but then found out that the wires won't reach the connectors. Had to take the hose back off, which is difficult when the valve is already installed in the tight space under the cabinet. Scott mounted his by hanging it from the soft copper water pipe. Mine had been hooked up with a hose. So I replaced the hose with a pipe -- simple change that solves the mounting problem.

Hi Scott, I recently was introduced to to this dishwasher bye friends of mine bought a house with one of these in it. it also had intake / drain light on being handy that I am I try to fix it first off I remove the filter that's in the end of the water valve and cleaned it it was dirty it worked for a while. Then stopped working altogether same intake drain light on. Contacted Miele which was has fantastic customer service they talk to me a handyman on a thirteen-year-old machine and we determined there was no water coming in by the codes that they help me get to. But what I think the real problem was (which I believe is unique to this dishwasher) it has a water valve on the end 6 foot hose this particular model only had about a foot into the cabinet under the sink the rest was bunched up behind the dishwasher and I think it was kinked when it was pushed back into place. So I remove dishwasher and as I was pushing the dishwasher back in I put all of the excess hose to under the sink cabinet security make sure there was no Kinks and it's been running fine for about 2 weeks now. So you might want to check those two things first filter and kinks in the hose. when you replaced the water valve you probably unkink the hose probably repairing it that way.

Scott, just wanted to let you know that after doing this fix a year ago, that this January the Circulation Pump Motor went out. They don't make a partition kit for it, so would have to be replaced at $1000 for part&labor. I looked at the new Miele and Asko and got a $400 off deal on a new Miele G6625SCU Crystal. Had it 2 weeks now and works good. But they no longer have the double Solenoid on the end of the hose. It's now just a regular metal braided hose. Miele says they now use a different Solenoid on the inside on the unit.

Scottthefixitguy I had a Miele service tech out a week ago due to a manufacturing scratch on the control panel. I asked him about the valve change. He said it's too early to tell if this change fixes the issue from the units with the solenoid at the beginning of the water line. But he preferred the older set up.

    Excellent video, well explained!
IMPORTANT NOTE ALL THE DIY GUYS out there trying to fix your dishwasher/wahsing machine:
Before following the advise in the video, make sure that the aquastop hose is actually really defective before cutting/destroying it, or buying a new valve.
I had the same defect characteristics, but my aquastop hose is actually still OK (I unmounted it before, which was tricky on my machine, and tested it).
I was close to ordering a new valve and destroying my aquastop hose as shown in the video. I would have been very disappointed to make all these efforts then just to see that this was not the problem.

Hi Scott. Thank you for the video and all your responses. In the newer Miele series G6xxx, the fill valve is inside the dishwasher at the bottom. Do you know if it's still possible to replace with the GE fill valve on those models? My g6875scvi fails on a normal cycle at the beginning of the rinse phase with a "intake" fault and I've exhausted all the troubleshooting steps in the manual.

Great video! You saved me lots of dollars with this simple fix. Also, we probably would have been washing dishes by hand for a week in order to get a repair guy out and then have him order the expensive part.
I'm thinking after reading one of the comments that said:
" Putting a mexico 40$ valve in place of a precision german made dual valve. So you put on 1 super cheap valve to replace 2 very high quality valves. Makes sense to expect issues. Cheap valves never work on these. Miele uses 2 valves. 1 is the main and 1 is flood fail safe. They both have to fail to flood your house"
that this fix could be improved by adding a second solenoid valve in series with the other, to get the redundancy of the Miele part. Any thoughts?
    Thanks again, Scott!

    • @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel
      @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks so much👍👍👍. Reports from customers have shown that the 40.00 cheap valve lasts much longer than the 220.00 Miele fill valve. So happy that it worked so well.

    Hi Scott,
We have two Incognito DW’s and one has a bad circulation pump..So we have been using the bad deep as a parts machine...previous to the intake/drain light flashing the working machine lost power altogether...Swapped the control panel out...Is there a possibility the “new” control board is faulty and that is why the intake/drain light is flashing? I have repeatedly shut off the unit turned it back on ..water drains at it starts to cycle then stops and the flashing light comes on...When I change the valve how do I adjust the water level so it does not get above the handle?

Hi Scott, great and simple fix. The Miele fix seems outrageously expensive by comparison. I found my solenoid was getting power, vibrating, but not opening. I deduced the failure is probably mechanical. I noticed that the original valve has a flow restrictor installed. I can't tell if the generic one does. Has anyone had any experience with removing this part? I guess it makes the fill quieter (a selling point for Miele). Any concerns about the increased water pressure in the machine? How long have people has this fix in service? You're providing a great service Scott!

Does the Miele G805 use the same fill valve design as this model? It is a 2 knob design with error lights on this model. I only see Cooper tubing going into the side of the dishwasher area. I wonder if this is tucked behind the unit or if the G805 uses a build-in valve in the dishwasher itself. Thanks

This video was right on time for me. It cost me less than $50 and less than an hour of work to fix my died Miele and saved me $500+ in repairs or replacement. The only problem is that you don't know if it is broken unless you take it apart. Fortunately that was the part that broke. Damned German Engineering created the part that cost more, cannot be disassembled/fixed and breaks more often. Even Bosh has a better valve.

I replaced the valve and the washer fills with the valve running for about 10 seconds then stopping, the red light blinks, then the valve opens for another 10 seconds. it does this repeatedly until the washer is full to the proper level. Unfortunately, the valve keeps opening and closing while the washer is draining. The washer fully drains, then fills again with the same process. Any suggestions.

    Hi Scott!
Thank you so much for all your videos. Super helpful! People like you make the internet an awesome place for learning.
I've tried nearly all your suggested fixes barring the replacement of parts. I bought a used G818 miele machine that seems to be in great condition. But, I'm getting a F-08 fault code for water supply/pressure switch. What is odd is I don't have anyone else's symptoms. I start a cycle, indicator light illuminates and I hear nothing save for a few relay clicks, then the indicator light starts blinking after 30-45 seconds and the drain/intake light is on. do you have any suggestions? Drain valve is clean, impeller moves, circulation pump impeller moves smooth, water supply has ample pressure, intake screen clear. I never hear the drain pump start up or hum. I should also add, I bought the machine a year ago and it hadn't attempted a wash cycle until today.

Thanks for the great video, I just got the same error code. We had the 400+ job done about 5 yrs ago to replace the valve. My water valve is on and the valve does vibrate, but no water comes into the dishwasher. I cleaned the basket filter and this did not fix the problem. I am assuming that the intake valve is just not working despite the vibration. I am going to replace it tonight, but if you have any other advice, I would love to hear it.....

Yep, it’s time for a new valve.
I might check first that the fill line coming to the valve has water flowing through it by disconnecting it from the valve.

I have a Miele 892sc (~13 years old) that has stopped filling most of the time. I removed and cleaned the intake screen of debris. No Joy (though it had a fair bit of crud). When it doesn't work, it stops right after starting a fill, after draining. It also vibrates briefly in that case, so it appears to be getting power and doing something, but I can't tell if water is getting through. I know that when it does fail, it's right at the start of a fill (rinse or wash). Sometimes it will get through a few fill cycles before failing again, once it got through an entire wash, but generally not (this started a few days ago). My big question is if it's likely to be the valve (failing to open, though the solenoid fires or tries), or if it's more likely to be whatever tells it that the valve opened (pressure sensor? or does it use electrical feedback from the wires (voltage drop/amps/etc)? If a failure mode for the Miele part is "vibrates but doesn't open", then this fix might be worth trying. If not, given the age and cost of parts, a more complex repair may not be worth it compared to a new machine, though perhaps a diagnosis for ?70?100? might be worth it.
    Thanks!

Thanks; I was all set to try it, and then.... The evening after I wrote that, it started showing all sorts of different sets of lights when being turned on or closing the door. I believe these are some form of error code (is there a link to something documenting them?) Most common is all-cycles lit, then sani-wash turns off after a few seconds; or rinse/wash/end all flashing, or just fast-blink from Salt. In these states, holding Start doesn't reset it and it can't be run. I did see someone report a similar problem with a useful tip - if one cycle lights, you can run it (or reset it by holding Start, and then run it). And "bouncing" the power seems to get one cycle light far more often that just turning it on (which virtually never does). Per what the person I found said, if I push the button enough to power it briefly, let it go and immediately push it again, that usually gets it in a few tries, then I can set the cycle and at that point it now always works - no intake/drain lights anymore...
Does this still sound like the fill valve? Could it be the pressure/heating module/sensor under the pump? Thanks!

Will this fix work on my Miele dishwasher if my problem is that it doesn't fill the machine with enough water?
When I turn the machine on the water doesn't fill to the bottom of screen filter handle and it sounds like it is starved on water because the recirculating pump noise is loud, I will dump a jug of water in the machine manually and it works fine with no noise and no warning light

I might have spoken too fast.
I ordered the 'universal' replacement, will get it on the 29th...
Symptoms : stops while cycling, drain/ intake light on.
I cleaned the filter, checked the drain pump (it is perfect and turns freely).
I unscrewed the inlet valve. Filter was ok, but still I took it off and did not put it back in ( it is until I get the new one, and our water is double filtered...
I did bang the valve a few times with a small hammer, and it seemed to work.
The Miele did 2 fill cycles, 2 drain cycles, then stopped. Drain/ intake light back on.
Any idea why the intake valve would do 2 fill cycles (on normal setting), then stop with the light on?
I don't think it is the water pressure sensor as I get a steady flow when it works.
I hope the new intake valve will fix this issue, but I am having doubts 🤔
    Could it be something else?
I really appreciate your videos. A great help to a lot of people.

When i first turned the machine back on again, i could hear it opening the valve and all seemed to work. I turned it off and on to retry, and then the technical fault indicated by three yellow lights flashing at the same time came back. Cant get it to work. Hi Scott, The Intake/Drain Light issue is still happening periodically. I went a little further in my investigations by taking off the very bottom panel at the front of the machine and noticed about half an inch of water build up in the bottom panel. I also found a float switch which I presume is there to detect excess water build up and once I slid it out, I proved that it was operating ok. I then noticed a steady drip coming out from a section just to the right of the float switch. Question: Could this build up of waste water be a possible cause of the warning light? Thanking you in advance. Michael

Thanks very much for your response Scott, I know about the float and the impeller. Neither of these were our problem. We have actually replaced the flow meter board since I sent this post. Now, it fills in a pulse (not constant), keeps going till it reaches the correct height and starts to pump out. It keeps filling in a pulse and draining continuously now and we had to switch it off so we didn't run out of hot water! I have seen some posts about the flow count needing to be reprogrammed once a flow meter board has been replaced but I can't find instructions on how to do this anywhere. If you happen to know how, or if it is necessary at all, it would be great if you could let me know. Much appreciated. Tracey

You followed a video from a parts changer. Puting a mexico 40$ valve in olace place of a precision german made dual valve. So you put on 1 super cheap valve to replace 2 very high quality valves. Makes sense to expect issues. Cheap valves never work on these. Miele uses 2 valves. 1 is the main and 1 is flood fail safe. They both have to fail to flood your house. In 24 yrs of being a miele factory tech, ive never had one flood. But ive seen a dozen at least theat ppl like this guy put on to save a buck. They fail sooner, and cause more problems than you ever will save. To do the job right pay a true miele factory tech 300 ish bucks and dont lift a finger. Problem with youtube is everybody is an expert but when the going gets tough, they are nowhere to be found!!!! Me? Well we are 2 million $ insured, 5 yr background checks, drug tested and drive trucks that must be no older than 10 yrs old......get what you pay for , afterall, you have a 2000$ dw , not a 500$ unit.

Scottthefixitguy OK. When we got the unit installed 7 years ago, we had an issue with it making a lot of suds with different wash tabs (Miele, Method, Finish Quantum), so the Miele Tech came out and programed it to fill another 1L of water, which solved the problem (also selected 2nd Interm Rinse and Extended Drying Time). I have left those settings On, but can turn them Off in the service menu.

Last week I had the hot water valve under the sink slightly turned (closed), as having it open all the way was having the water gush in the dishwasher with a lot of force since replacing the Valve. Today I opening the hot water line all the way, which makes a lot more water pressure noise entering in the unit, but didn't get the error code. So maybe that was the cause? I will unplug it to reset overnight.
I also read that the wheel and reed under the left side panel may not be sending correct pulses.

I have a Miele Diamante Plus model that is 7 years old. Now the water continues to enter the dishwasher, even when the unit is powered off. Running a Wash cycle, it will fill, but then after a minute will drain and water keeps coming in. The solenoid box does vibrate, and gets power, and does stop vibrating, but water continues to flow. Do you think your fix would solve the problem?

Very common problem for Miele dishwashers. Your fill valve is mechanically stuck slightly open and will keep filling even when powered off.
      You need to:
      1. Turn off the water to the dishwasher under the sink
      2. Watch the video on replacing the 220.00 Miele fill valve with a better 40.00 fill valve
      3. Watch the video on fixing a dishwasher that just keeps on draining because your bottom drip tray is now flooded.
40.00 later and 1 hour of work you'll be up and running again with a great dishwasher
