The vast majority of indie games do not achieve this level of success and thus don’t have this flexibility. AAA studios put hundreds of people out of jobs when they fail, so they are risk adverse.

The current sale has caused me to pick it up on Switch, this update is a big bonus, and I don't know why I waited so long. It's excellent, and that art style is gorgeous.

I love the fact that it's set in the "same world" as The Messenger... I can see echoes even in the choice of colour palette. It's vying for position on my "one game from Mum" Christmas list!
Guys, I beat the game and got 100% and I give it a 10/10!!! I love the skills ,beautiful background, great music, diverse environments, amazing graphics, bosses, food, and the characters! This was BEFORE the Equinox update! I am now doing another playthrough on New Game+ and can't wait to re-experience the same adventure with new content!
This is a solid rpg and a safe bet for veterans such as myself who may be burned out on RPG and such. It is difficult for me to finish a lot of story based adventure games anymore but this one does not overwhelm you. It gives you a nice amount of content and things to do still though. It's simplicity is it's genius. It is engaging and the story is good for the action and exploration you will be doing. Go ahead and get it. It is a much safer bet than many others that may burn you out while not necessarily being bad. It is SOLID.
So glad to see the multiplayer, i've wanted an RPG to play with my Niece and Nephew and we already played the Mario RPG. As their both younger its hard to find an RPG that is age appropriate, and them being able to hop in and control a character is a great bonus.

I mostly know this game for that asshole who scammed donation money or whatever it was but gonna have to pick it up eventually; it looks pretty cool. Chrono Trigger one of the VERY few RPG's I've finished, actually more than once, and heard this took some inspiration from there.
I really tried with this game, liked the look, combat okay but repetitive and not deep enough imho. But the story killed it for me and I had to put it down. Very generic, squeaky clean, characters without any charm or flaws. Just dull for me unfortunately. I get JRPG’s are not classically super deep, I’m not looking for Disco Elesium which is great, maybe too much depth in fact - but just a little more interesting character development/flavour and story novelty would go a long way with this one
The vanilla version was a good game but nowhere near a masterpiece! Im glad to see the general consesus is the same now that people got to play most of the gsme. The story is bland and the characters barely have any personality. I'm glad it's getting new free updates though! Love your channel.

Don’t really want to ding the game too much though, I’d rather more indie games of this quality versus the lack of total AAA game releases that’s been synonymous with this console generation. If you’re wondering, I did not finish the epilogue and have zero desire to do so.

We know, some people don’t enjoy it as much as others. Big surprise. Stop acting like you’re the majority. Silent majority, vocal minority are terms for a reason.
I respect this opinion, even though I'm not fully on board with it. The main protagonists would've been more fun if they had more personality to them. But I thought the other characters in the game were quite lovely!
Defend your opinion. Story had proper pacing, developed character arcs, had plot twists, developed side characters very well, had dialogue with NPCs that gave background and colored the world. Nothing horrible about hitting all the proper points. Stylistically it was a more happy-go-lucky, let’s have fun, let’s not be all sad and brooding the whole time. It did have some dark moments, but they didn’t take those moments and make them frequent enough to dampen the hopefulness of the story. They sprinkled them in just often enough to give life and meaning to what was happening. Sure, the main characters were a little light on depth, but the story wasn’t about who they were, it was about who they chose to become. Complaining about the main characters being shallow, is like complaining about Crono for being shallow, or master chief being shallow. The story isn’t about them, it’s about the people and world around them and what they chose to do with it. So, continue to spout unjustified opinions and you will start to sound like IGN…
I think horrible is stretching it. I am playing through Mario and Luigi Brothership right now and, well, the writing in that game? Not great. Sea of Stars actually has an interesting world and story. I think people are only put off by the writing because they decided to make the protagonists a little bland, which is a fair criticism. But I don't know about horrible.
@@What_In_This_World Plot twists don't matter one iota if you don't care about the characters involved. It's a fundamental failure of storytelling that applies across all mediums. From the very introduction the devs clearly don't know how support a compelling narrative by establishing characters. Show, don't tell. It was pathetic.

There are parts in this game that gets pretty serious (not giving any spoilers), not really the same happy adventure as Mario RPG.

I tried out the demo and while the game looks amazing the 1st boss hard man like smh. Anyways nice game i'll get my copy eventually.

I really wanted to like this game but the story was badly paced and the dialogue too simple. A shame, gameplay and graphics were awesome.
