Yuya's counters and grappling reversals were spectacular. DJ is a machine though. Constant analysis amidst unrelenting pressure until he finds a weakness and punishes his opponent for being anything short of perfect.
Most intelligent and cerebral fighter in the history of combat sports in my opinion. Was the p4p king for a long time 🙌

DJ has the fastest scrambling/ grappling/chain wrestling in MMA. There's no transition time, he just instantly cycles through positions & different threat options before u can even react, like a damn computer.

I can't believe the UFC let this guy go, I also can't believe fans couldn't get behind DJ. The dude is an absolute stud in fighting and the fans don't even know what they missing. Instead they like cocky fighters who can't seem to win lately, or defend a belt ever.
UFC made a ton of money off Askren and DJ made a bunch of money at ONE so was great for both parties.. and Masvidal became a huge star
Other than the second Cejudo fight, DJ pretty much, demolished the entire flyweight division. It’s hard to root for a guy you know is gonna win 99% of the time. It becomes a Klitschko situation, during Klitschko’s 25 title defense run, Heavyweight boxing was pretty much dead, then Tyson Fury came along.
@@VannTheDawn that's not it. MMA fighting is more about image than the actual fighting. If you're an entertaining guy with lots of charisma, you'll get recognition. Johnson is a great fighter, but he's just lacking badass character
True. They traded him away for Askren who was a bust. Sure, Askren was a nice stepping stone for Masvidal. But that doesn't change the fact that they gave away DJ who is regarded as one of the best fighters in UFC history. He dominated that division until the second Cejudo fight. Dana is a clown and so are the fans who spit on DJ for doing his job.

DJ the real goat. Taking on new challenges. No questionable weight cuts. Entertaining ground game. No backing out of fights. No excuses.
Dude's ground game is phenomenal. He makes transitions so fast my brain can't even keep up. I have to re-watch the scrambles 6 times just to understand them, I can't even imagine what it'd be like trying to defend against it.
DJ is the greatest MMA fighter in history. Every single aspect of his skills are fine tuned and deadly. On top of that he is humble and wins with grace. He had to awareness to tell his corner not to lift him up to celebrate at 9:12 because he didn't want to overly celebrate. He's an absolute class act and he will go down in history as the 1 true G.O.A.T.

Dana likes a mouthy ticket seller. Kinda like the useless fighter he traded DJ for. The only fight Ben Askren has won since joining UFC was a screw job over Robbie Lawler. Seems like Dana would rather have a mouthy loser than a total tactician that just wins...

Even though Ben went 1-2 in the UFC, he had more star power than DJ’s whole run in there. As well as being a great technical fighter, you gotta be entertaining as well.
I do like DJ, but he’s not an exciting fighter to watch compared to Ben

I have always been a Mighty Mouse fan. Him getting released from the UFC was a disappointing day for me. After watching this fight though, hats off to Yuya he's a fantastic fighter. I am looking forward to seeing more of him. Who wins a fight or championship is less important to me than exciting competitive fights and this checked all my boxes.

DJ is great technically and i'd definitely count is as his primary strength, but he is also extremely fast and agile. reflexes and speed fade first with age and in the lower weigth classes this is even more of an issue. i have no doubt, that MM will continue his greatness, but there has to be a noticable decline sooner or later.

@@Lousasshol he had speed and power, of course; at that level, they all do. He doesn't rely on them, though. He's got big brain tactics. Look at the size of the cranium: he's diminutive, but has the brain-case of a beluga whale. Just LOOK at it.
DJ is one of the finest fighters in MMA today. It always baffle me why UFC didn't give him the best recognition he deserves
Because even the UFC higher ups dont want to go to the effort to promote humble respectful classy fighters who fight in the lower weight divisions because they think the reward is not worth the trouble even though the flyweights produce some of the most incredible technical and skillful bouts to a purists eyes. DJ is arguably the most well rounded technically perfect flawless fighter in the history of mma across all weight classes.

Demetrious Johnson was one of the most underrated UFC champs when he was with that promotion. He has one of the most consecutive title defenses in the promotion, and hardly anyone knew him

Just imagine if DJ was 6’4” and 250lbs. The guy excels _everywhere_ . There literally isn’t one aspect of his fight game that isn’t stellar.

Mighty Mouses techincal prowess is awe inspiring. Watching him switch guards with ease and his relentless pace is sick. I will say that I think this Yuya kid had a HUGE upside in potential and a fighter I'd like to see more of!

I just found a new inspiration to fight against taller opponents hehe. DJ is a living proof that smaller people can excel in fighting sport. Man, he is usually shorter than his foes. But with his motivation, hard working and dedication in fighting sport specifically MMA, he can keep up with taller fighters. I really love his techniques. So much to learn form him being a smaller guy.😅
The international audience seems to be so in tuned to all the nuisances of the game. Love watching fights with an exciting and knowledgeable crowd. Doesn’t hurt to watch the Goat DJ 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
