Yuya's counters and grappling reversals were spectacular. DJ is a machine though. Constant analysis amidst unrelenting pressure until he finds a weakness and punishes his opponent for being anything short of perfect.
I can't believe the UFC let this guy go, I also can't believe fans couldn't get behind DJ. The dude is an absolute stud in fighting and the fans don't even know what they missing. Instead they like cocky fighters who can't seem to win lately, or defend a belt ever.
Other than the second Cejudo fight, DJ pretty much, demolished the entire flyweight division. It’s hard to root for a guy you know is gonna win 99% of the time. It becomes a Klitschko situation, during Klitschko’s 25 title defense run, Heavyweight boxing was pretty much dead, then Tyson Fury came along.

But that doesn't change the fact that they gave away DJ who is regarded as one of the best fighters in UFC history. He dominated that division until the second Cejudo fight. DJ has the fastest scrambling/ grappling/chain wrestling in MMA. There's no transition time, he just instantly cycles through positions & different threat options before u can even react, like a damn computer.
DJ is the greatest MMA fighter in history. Every single aspect of his skills are fine tuned and deadly. On top of that he is humble and wins with grace. He had to awareness to tell his corner not to lift him up to celebrate at 9:12 because he didn't want to overly celebrate. He's an absolute class act and he will go down in history as the 1 true G.O.A.T.
Dude's ground game is phenomenal. He makes transitions so fast my brain can't even keep up. I have to re-watch the scrambles 6 times just to understand them, I can't even imagine what it'd be like trying to defend against it.

I have always been a Mighty Mouse fan. Him getting released from the UFC was a disappointing day for me. After watching this fight though, hats off to Yuya he's a fantastic fighter. I am looking forward to seeing more of him. Who wins a fight or championship is less important to me than exciting competitive fights and this checked all my boxes.
DJ is great technically and i'd definitely count is as his primary strength, but he is also extremely fast and agile. reflexes and speed fade first with age and in the lower weigth classes this is even more of an issue. i have no doubt, that MM will continue his greatness, but there has to be a noticable decline sooner or later.

DJ is the mma p4p best on the planet. Most well rounded fighter there is. Controls the range and rhythm of every fight. Always proactive making his opponents reactive. Young aspiring fighters should look at him and emulate then elevate 🙏🏽☯️

UFC made a ton of money off Askren and DJ made a bunch of money at ONE so was great for both parties.. and Masvidal became a huge star
