The Starling & Olive Soft Hackle is a great twist on a traditional style soft hackle. Hans ties an olive version here, but adjust the colors to suit your local fish! shop.flyfishsd...
Hans, size 12 for midges? I would think 18-24 instead if possible. I'm very interested in small soft hackles but have a hard time finding soft hackle feathers small enough; would love to see you make a video of a 22 or smaller soft hackle.
Starling is basically all I tie for 95% of the soft hackles I swing - and there are sufficient smaller sizes on a Starling skin that doesn't break the bank
Nice fly, Where is your Law vise. I would give a lot to get one. I can't find them anymore. I found a couple in England that were still new. I didn't have the money at the time for the purchase. I couldn't justify the money either since I have more vises than I can use, since I only have two hands! All the best ant thanks for sharing. Sean
Nicely tied! 👍
Lovely tying. I love all traditional spiders. :-)
I've tied a very similar fly with a biot body for years. This pattern hunts.
Gonna give that a try. Thanks.

LAW vise is safely attached to my tying bench. I still use it but am testing out other vises too.
