I don't want a GR car myself but this is a great idea. Saw a car similar to this at Walmart and thought what a much better deal it'd be to modify than the Haslab project since it was a fraction of the cost. Might have been the same exact car actually. Seems like the Haslab is to try and sell people Mephisto etc at a marked up price and not enough took the bait. At least you'll likely see them eventually outside the Haslab now.
As for using velcro I think it may look off in some ways or perhaps be too easy to knock off while driving it around. I like the idea of magnets though but they too may be easy to knock off if not strong enough. Take some black magnet strips, or metal, and line the car in certain areas. Do it right and it'll just look like car details. Then just slap the metal/magnets on the flame pieces and you'd be set.

just the fact you did it for 150 and it's a remote-controlled car says more than words ever could about the haslab price. even with the tiers the haslab added to 150 should be at best around 225 to 250 and that's giving it credit cause it is not remote-controlled.

Hasbro must have bumped there head or something. I love my bootleg Tamashi Nations/Bandai/SH Figuarts/Medicom/Mafex/insert 14 other names Japanese effects! I bought ONE years back for like $50+...then discovered those exact same KO versions. I've never done the affiliated link thing, but I'm wanting to get that clear water effect pack & a maybe a few more. So let me know man if you got the time on if I can just click on one of those links and snatch other things, or do I need direct links to others so you get a tiny cut.

Honestly a trip to the hardware store and some magnets and you could make doors that open easily on that. just saw those doors off and attach some hinges to the doors with magnets to keep the doors closed.

Tue good point I bet there are other ways for sure this is just what worked for me at the time without magnets and any trips to the store.
