Hey DiplexHeated, I'm the developer. I want to say thank you, and I'm deeply honored that you played my mission. I got MoWAS2 after watching your videos! I was grinning ear to ear I hope to refine this mission and make many more. The whole time I was making this mission, I thought it was going to be too easy. The reason I called it 4000+ is that total attacking union is 4,408; each section is 44 men. It ends after the 11th wave, and you made it to wave 9. A note about the cannon, they randomly change ammo type to the less effective for no reason, (you can see this in the video.) This explains why some guns were less effective. In the future, I'm going to do a rev war star fort with British defense and French attack.
hey man I really enjoy the game editor and ive been stumped in figuring out how you make them walk in such perfect organization, could you shed some light? thanks!
id suggest maybe making reinforcements a thing but only give it on killz meaning you can setup a high value reinforcement like they cost alot because command dont have many men to send

Even without the Union having any artillery, this thing would have been won easily by like the 3rd or 4th wave if the AI would actually have the regular union soldiers charge after taking 2 or 3 volleys at the enemy. Until the very end, only the marines actually charged past the skirmish line.

The 69th New York Infantry or "Fighting 69th" Was composed of mainly Irish Americans and did wear green Forage Caps Long and short of it from the Civil War in America to OIF.. 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry served with distinction in Iraq from 2004-2005. The unit fought in and around Baghdad, most notably securing Route Irish and the surrounding area of Baghdad suburbs, and companies from it have since served in Afghanistan.
At 6:46 The 69th Pennsylvania was actually an Irish Brigade, so that was the Green bannered boys to the left of what you were looking at. The company you were actually looking at was a Zouave Unit.
You dont know the story correct, 1st the spartans didnt choose before to die at that battle, it was a decent battle almost 9.000 greeks vs 100 of thousand persians, but the valley was strategically in favour of the greeks, the believed that the persians would choose not to waste all their time there plus with such a tiny valley they couldn't tell the numbers of the greeks at least before the end, after the Ephialtes betrayal only 300 spartans stayed and 700 thespians for history , honour and the unity of Hellas against a common enemy .It was the first time a Spartan king died in battle.Almost 3 hours lasted that battle of 1000 greeks vs 100.000 of persians so no i dont see something in common with that battle, maybe the Alamo could be seen as such
Hey, i have a question, what are the best games to watch such cinematic replays? Im not really interested in playing myself, as im bad at tactics, i just want to watch replays and others playing the game, to chill a bit. Any suggestions?
My 4th great Uncle was in a Battle almost just like this. He was one of about 4,900 Confederates vs. 28,000 Union solders. Made them Yankees fight 3 days to take that spot, Confederates killed or wounded 900 Yankees. While the Confederates only lost 100. Whole the rest including my 4th great Uncle were captured. Then he was sent to Camp Douglas in Chicago. (The battle of Arkansas Post)
"Three hundred thousand Yankees are stiff in Southern dust We got three hundred thousand before the conquered us They died of Southern fever, and Southern steel and shot I wish there were three million, instead of what we got..."
The civil war canon were sufficiently complicated that it is highly unlikely untrained infantry would’ve been affective artillery men. I was in the field artillery so my OCD went in to over drive when you tossed untrained conscripts onto those guns.
If the waves weren't so separated and they had more charging attacks up the roads, the union forces would have taken that sooner and with less casualties.
Diplex how about this idea, alternate universe where the South won and now it's WW1 with the Confederates on the allied side and the USA on the Central Powers side (or reversed if you want)
The good 'ol 69th, full of Irish Volunteers! My name is Tim McDonald, I'm a native of the Isle, I was born among old Erin's bogs when I was but a child.
Diplex right there when you said you defeated a union birgade you would have defeated at least two or three regiments back in the civil war bassically had 200 to 400 hundred men after a few battles. Then three regiments will make up a birgade with at least two to three birgades making up a division. So for only a regiment of confederates holding out against a union division you did really well
@@dannymiller3315, I don't think it would take that many, unless the storm troopers had automatic blasters. The storm trooper armor was designed to absorb blaster fire but it still relatively vulnerable to bullets. I'd say 100 storm troopers vs 150 Confederates would be more even
@@johannschmidt3389 well the blaster would be more reliable, and we dont see a limited supply of ammo and the armor would work against musketballs so it would be atleast 1000 Confederates to even stand a chance
I wish I was in the land of cotten good times there are not forgotten look away, look away, look away in Dixie's land. I wish I was in dixie, hurrah, hurrah!
Hey Diplex, don't get me wrong your a great youtuber and everything but heres some constructive criticism. Please don't focus a lot on unit placement becuase we could not see pretty much anything going on with the attackers on the first 3 waves, we don't mind if the units are a bit out of place. Other than that the video was great, and we appreciate the hard work you put in for our enjoyment. Thanks and btw The Alamo maybe????????
rick cea I thought his unit placement wasn’t enough though, he should have made sure each soldier was aiming at the exact place that he wanted them to.
the battle from the movie 'glory' 54 mass versus fort monroe, was an interesting clash. If you angle your cannons and rifles on each flank shooting towards the enemy's middle you can take out three or more with one shot than just shooting at the guy in front of you - this defense was mastered by germany in ww1 the maxim guns on the flanks would go right through a group of charging enemy. you should get a partner to help. I am sure there are people in your area who would die for a chance to assist you. Many hands means light work. And when you are away, you can delegate a lot of grunt work for them while you are gone. draw up a story board and delegate and disappear
that moment when you went to west point "i think our left flank is our weakest....or maybe the right...it could be the center" it was great to see another of your videos diplex. keep it up
Mixing Eras eh? Alright. I like where you're going. UNSC and ww2 Allied troops (British, Canadiens, Americans) vs Covies and Axis troops (German, Japanese, and Italian). Good vs evil. Heroes vs villains. It'd be beautiful. This video was as well though! Keep it up!
You should try using "crossing fields of fire," but while keeping in mind the loss of accuracy those small arms have the farther the shot attempted. Using a modern example to best demonstrate the techniques advantages. If I had two large caliber machine guns facing a narrow choke point, I would not fire both guns straight ahead; instead, I would have the left machine gunner aim at all targets on the right half of the bottle neck, and the right machine gunner aiming at all targets on the left. If the left is only firing on the left and the right only firing on the right, then there are always pockets of space ahead of me that massed men can pass through without being shot. Plus, firing ahead any bullet misses of which there are many, do not in any way protect anyone even as a miss, because they offer neither a deterrent nor act as a shield. Crossing fields of fire however, with the line of bullets of both guns sweeping side to side on the opposite of the battlefield, passing by each other in an x-shape, then there are no holes in the line of fire for massed soldiers to exploit while both machine guns are firing. Shooting non-exploding cannon balls at angles to the line regardless of whether the lines of firs cross would run each ball through more men for the simple fact that lines are much wider than they are deep. For the single shot small arms, maybe small scale so that each section of the line cross fire in halves where both the right and left side are each again divided so that the left half have a left and right side crossing fields of fire and so does the other half have its own.
A superior force of Union troops attacking in a frontal formation without the benefit of flank support is near suicide. If I were the commander of these forces, I would have lined up a battery of long-range cannon out of the range of the fortress cannon and just bombarded the Rebels while bringing up an assault force. This would keep the Rebels down in their trenches as the Union troops advanced. There were enough Union troops to eventually overrun the Rebel position.
The red guys were all of the regiments you said. If they have those uniforms they're called zouaves. They're French speaking soldiers based off French light infantry. As for the Irish troops there was the union Irish brigade and some other regiments like the 35th that were in other brigades.
DiplexHeated I know the civil war interests you and the last civil war vid I saw you said you didn't really know much about it. Let me give you this but of info, the union may have won the physical war but the south in all accounts had the best music. Now I know that doesn't do much on the battlefield, especially when you have half the men and munitions. But just look up confederate songs, blow the union ones out of the water. Yellow rose of Texas, Arkansas traveller, Kelly's Irish brigade, Dixieland, Johnny rebel, to arms in Dixie, and more. They also have a lot of good post war songs. Wearing of the gray, the night they drove old Dixie down, I'm a good old rebel, sitting up drinking with Robert E. Lee, ect. Fun fact about that last one, Lee didn't actually drink and be rarely cursed especially when talking of the enemy he called them "those people" when many were shouting "damnyankees"
Diplex, the irsh Brigade had an Emerald flag, not pale yellow. I believe they didn't wear green Kepi, but I do think the flag matches with the Irish brigade. I have a suggestion for a battle for BiTF, Shiloh? Would be an amazing spectacle.
Kepi The main green kepi's that were with the Union was with their sharpshooters. The Irish had leaves in their kepi's. And you killed your own regiment. lol
It seems to me that you needed to start breaking up those union units alot farther out than you were if at all possible. Long range artillery is your friend when you are defending.
I love this game and the Mods! And i like you an! You makinmg the best battle vids from all TH-camrs who make this kind of Videos! Sry for my bad english.

Poor orphans now they may weep and cry and parents through the day
They let their lovely children go on to Americay
With me too-rai-ah, m’faddle-deedle-da, too-rai-ar-rai-faddle-eedle-da, too-nai-doh
For ye that hear those doleful lines do not neglect to toil
An they everfore enlighten good On St Patricks Isle
With me too-rai-ah, m’faddle-deedle-da, too-rai-ar-rai-faddle-eedle-da, too-nai-doh

Their friends may mourn for their loss they’ll never seem them more
With me too-rai-ah, m’faddle-deedle-da, too-rai-ar-rai-faddle-eedle-da, too-nai-doh
Now to conclude with these few lines, with grief I’ll say no more
You know it was through poverty they left their native shore
With me too-rai-ah, m’faddle-deedle-da, too-rai-ar-rai-faddle-eedle-da, too-nai-doh
They had no one to heal their wounds may angels them surround
Before the throne of heaven may they wear a brilliant crown

Please don't focus a lot on unit placement becuase we could not see pretty much anything going on with the attackers on the first 3 waves, we don't mind if the units are a bit out of place. Other than that the video was great, and we appreciate the hard work you put in for our enjoyment. Thanks and btw The Alamo maybe????????
FUBAR38 he still made it realistic, though! 👍
agreed ocd unit placement was annoying
Gen. McClellan probably thought the same thing.
rick cea I thought his unit placement wasn’t enough though, he should have made sure each soldier was aiming at the exact place that he wanted them to.
6:48 Actually The 69th Pennsylvania was a Skirmisher Regiment Of Irish Zouaves that regiment of Zouaves is the 5th New York Regiment.
the battle from the movie 'glory' 54 mass versus fort monroe, was an interesting clash.
If you angle your cannons and rifles on each flank shooting towards the enemy's middle you can take out three or more with one shot than just shooting at the guy in front of you -
this defense was mastered by germany in ww1 the maxim guns on the flanks would go right through a group of charging enemy.
you should get a partner to help. I am sure there are people in your area who would die for a chance to assist you. Many hands means light work. And when you are away, you can delegate a lot of grunt work for them while you are gone. draw up a story board and delegate and disappear
I'd like a mix-era battle for a video.
I think the Union needed some artillery.
that moment when you went to west point
"i think our left flank is our weakest....or maybe the right...it could be the center"
it was great to see another of your videos diplex. keep it up
Diplex's Southern accent God tier👌
Mixing Eras eh? Alright. I like where you're going. UNSC and ww2 Allied troops (British, Canadiens, Americans) vs Covies and Axis troops (German, Japanese, and Italian). Good vs evil. Heroes vs villains. It'd be beautiful. This video was as well though! Keep it up!
It was at this moment Gen. Lee realized he fucked up. Semper Fi!!!
These bots are brave just walking up to they're doom that they no is coming carl it was nice seeing warning blood and gore
DiplexHeated when your cannons hitted your voice was like Hitlers😂😂😂😂😂
If the Union had just charged your lines with bayonets from the beginning as those Marines did you wouldn't have lasted nearly as long
HEY that's my eastern front map just edited! LOL I did not know about this! :D
3:44 That is the 35th Indiana, they were Irish, and they in fact wore Green Kepi's.
Jesus Morgan, a man to remember
there were so many dead that the union troops were literally taking cover behind the corpses
The moment I saw them marines come storming in I immediately said out loud “of course they are”
I love the tactics back then "K lads walk as slow as you can so the enemy can shoot you"
Those Marines made my day lol
Diplex you should command the 20th maine against the wave of confederates on the second day of gettysburg
"Clearly a battle with alot going on here" silently watches men walk
This is why you don't charge in open ground in line formation...
The red guys were all of the regiments you said. If they have those uniforms they're called zouaves. They're French speaking soldiers based off French light infantry. As for the Irish troops there was the union Irish brigade and some other regiments like the 35th that were in other brigades.
I'm a civil war reenactor and duplex knows regiments better than I do
Hey Diplex, do you still do North and South?
Not fair, the union would have used cannon to soften them up first!
this looks fucking amazing im downloading the mod right now thanks for showing me diplex
Watching this with my buds at the logistics mess hall keep up the good work
German logistics lol im in the military
love the battles you create
Good to see you back!
That's the 69th Pennsylvania not New York
Edit: oh
Aye, I finally got it :)
Diplex, the irsh Brigade had an Emerald flag, not pale yellow.
I believe they didn't wear green Kepi, but I do think the flag matches with the Irish brigade.
I have a suggestion for a battle for BiTF, Shiloh? Would be an amazing spectacle.
DiplexHeated hi friend remember me
Hey, I made this. I used the flags and men the BITFA developers gave me, but I agree that there are some inaccuracies.
You made this whole scenario?
I have a new found respect for you and the effort you must've put into this.
DiplexHeated you are a great youtuber i like your men of war videos the star wars one are my favorite keep up the great vids
Anyone here in 2020?
Yes this, but with WW2 era germans defending against THOSE GODDAMN MUSKETS
Hey, when you do mods, I would appreciate it if you put the steam workshop link in the description.
I love battles like this
The 35th Indiana wore green kepi but they're extremely hard to find.
@DiplexHeated the 5th New Yorker wore red zouaves uniform as well as this their sister regiment the 165th New Yorker also wore zouavish uniforms
do men of war mods mix very well? I kinda want to bullshit an anachronistic engagement between low tech and hi-tech armies, mixing between, of course
"The more spread out they are the more efficient they would be."
Not for muskets. There were lines for a reason.
union needed artillery support to attack then lets see what happens
Kepi
The main green kepi's that were with the Union was with their sharpshooters. The Irish had leaves in their kepi's.
And you killed your own regiment. lol
As far as units, the yankees had a couple divisions decimated. LOL
It seems to me that you needed to start breaking up those union units alot farther out than you were if at all possible. Long range artillery is your friend when you are defending.
thank u for playing a civil war one its my 2 2nd fav right under ww2
If the union had even like 2 or 3 artillery pieces and they charged at the end it would be better.
Can you display statistics on destroyed equipment and those killed after the battle?
I love this game and the Mods! And i like you an! You makinmg the best battle vids from all TH-camrs who make this kind of Videos! Sry for my bad english.
