Possibly the friendliest people in the world! We took a child, who was hitchhiking back to his village, after a day in the field & the family welcomed us with kava. They invited us back, for a feast, in our honour, the next day. Then, they took us spear fishing & to a beach that they own. No white people had set foot on there, other than a movie cast, who filmed Blue Lagoon there. It was stunning! They taught Dad how to spear fish & climbed trees to collect coconuts for us. They treated us like Kings. They then had another feast in our honour. Honestly, it made the whole trip! Dad is a Doctor, so helped the local nurse to learn about HIV and she was so grateful. We ended up buying around $500 groceries for them to thank them. It was so lovely to see the kids trying biscuits for the first time. Such a special vacation. We kept in touch with them too.

So, heartwarming, to witness the soulful cuisine and my deepest respect for the reverential manner in which Monsieur Mark, you responded each time. God bless and Godspeed.
My gosh ! I could live in Fiji just for the absolutely breathtakingly stunning beaches 🤩👌 Here in South Africa we call the moringa "Drumstick Herbs" and it's a mission to clean the tiny leaves off the stems so the easiest way is to wrap the stems in newspaper and the leaves fall off automatically. Apparently, you must only cook a certain quantity of the herbs or else the meal will be too bitter
I remember that "seawater dipping sauce" is a picnic favourite back in the village. When we go picnic, lunch is always smoked fish soaked in fresh seawater with lemon and chillie to flavour 🤤🤤🤤🤤 I miss that village life. Simple yet so wholesome 💙🇫🇯
Its funny watching Mark eat and try to describe Polynesian food! It is not full of spices like Asian food, some people even call it bland, but it is very nutritious and fresh, very rich and savory! If you like coconut cream and seafood, the Polynesian food is for you! Mark should try Samoan Palusami!

Honestly Mark. Your videos are like a balm. I watch them for health reasons. Thanks so much for such positive, wholesome foodsome education.
Love the look of this place. No concrete roads! No tarmac! Amazing :D
Thank you Mark Wiens for advertising my Island home to the world. You’ve made me appreciate our traditional foods even more. Vinaka
Gorgeous!! The water is so crystal clear! Nature's natural beauty on display! No pollution, trash, and drilling.
Hats off to Andy Blake for preparing such a great itinerary for the show which showcased Fijian cuisine at its best.
Thank you Mark Wiens for choosing Fiji to be a part of your channel.
Ikr , they covered almost all delicacy in fiji... wished mark had more time to taste the delicacy of the inland- rourou cooked in bamboo, lalabi miti uwo. Vinaka valevu Andy.
Thank you, Mark, for showing the world 🌎 what fiji is all about..
Thanks Mark for showing us such natural beauty of Fiji and thanks to the Fijians for still practicing their traditional old culture, the respect they have for their ancestors is amazing 😍😍😍
So beautiful Fiji is such beautiful country people are so nice.
The Fiji islands are so beautiful. The food is so healthy and good to see them preparing it in their traditional way. Thank you Wiens for taking us there 👍
Thank you, Monsieur Mark, for choosing to pay a visit to the remote Lau islands, my island home. Thank you, Captain Cook Cruises for extending your repertoire to include the hidden island paradise of the Lau group. Thank you, Monsieur Andy for being a most apt guide. So, heartwarming, to witness the soulful cuisine and my deepest respect for the reverential manner in which Monsieur Mark, you responded each time. God bless and Godspeed.
My gosh !
I could live in Fiji just for the absolutely breathtakingly stunning beaches 🤩👌
Here in South Africa we call the moringa "Drumstick Herbs" and it's a mission to clean the tiny leaves off the stems so the easiest way is to wrap the stems in newspaper and the leaves fall off automatically. Apparently, you must only cook a certain quantity of the herbs or else the meal will be too bitter
bula from Fiji
the bitterness is removed when the ladies squeezed it in water after boiling it....
Oi😂😂😂😂❤
I remember that "seawater dipping sauce" is a picnic favourite back in the village. When we go picnic, lunch is always smoked fish soaked in fresh seawater with lemon and chillie to flavour 🤤🤤🤤🤤 I miss that village life. Simple yet so wholesome 💙🇫🇯
Much love from Kenya 🇰🇪👏👏👏
I am in Kenya 🇰🇪 too always following big up Migrationology
Its funny watching Mark eat and try to describe Polynesian food! It is not full of spices like Asian food, some people even call it bland, but it is very nutritious and fresh, very rich and savory! If you like coconut cream and seafood, the Polynesian food is for you! Mark should try Samoan Palusami!
Good on you Mark. Your videos are promoting tourism in Fiji. I don't know much about Fiji but watching your videos surely tells me that there's many beautiful tourist spots to visit in Fiji.
This brings me back to my time in New Zealand helping prepare a Hangi on the Marae. Great food and people.
Thank you Mark wiens for exploring fiji and you have put fiji on the map and u have showed the world the food is🇫🇯🇫🇯 maleka🇫🇯🇫🇯 like all your videos in fiji
I was lucky enough to travel to Fiji twenty two years ago and the pork lovo was the best pork I have ever tasted in my life.
Now we’re talking 😂
I went to my village in Fiji some time back with a few friends, went hunting for wild boar 🐗 in the forest, butchered it and we all decided to experiment with some pork lovo on our own. Garlic, ginger, chillies and soy sauce. The most tender and juicy pork I've tasted.
@@amitchand1519 I had my pork lovo at the Shangri-La Fijian Resort on Yanuca Island. Still the best holiday I have ever had in my life and also the friendliest people I have ever met in my life.
@@amitchand1519why are u racist
@@DrBamWam I am curious to know which part of my comment sounds racist. Really very curious to know the thought process that lead to RACIST!
I'm from fiji too living in us California just last month I came back from fiji really enjoyed with family...Fiji is the best country and place to fell love and Signature food...miss Fiji love fiji
Always welcome ❤
No one no one on TH-cam is like Mark Weins. I have learned humility, beauty, hospitality, friendliness from his Travels all over the world even at a time when the world is divided socially and other ways.
Thank you Mark ⛱️ 🏖
❤
Utterly divine video...what a beautiful place and people...the food is amazing
I did every kava sesssion I could for 8 or 9 days when I was there.....then I went to one of these small villages you need permission...and they either gave me some extra-good kava...or it had built up in my system. I walked back to the boat seeing things greener than they had been several hours earlier....sounds a little more clear.....my with an extra smiley face! I'm staring at the full size kava bowl I brought back with me including cowry shells and coconut braid.
@39:05 That is why you don't want to contaminate your beaches and seawater with sewerage in Fiji.............the water is used for seasoning. Wonderful presentation why we have to keep our environment clean. Love the show Mark.
Wow Mark,
This is the ultimate compliment to these Fiji Islands.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
We appreciate you and your family.
BLESSINGS Always
Damn, I wanna go to Fiji , its been in my bucket list from way too long.
Come over bro. Don't wait too long.
A Huge Vinaka Vaka levu for this!!! I am from Daliconi and our family is the guardians of Qila Qila!! We are heading home for the first time in Sept and have been looking into the Kana in the village. This had truly truly helped. I really hope you enjoyed my father land.
When I was young I worked with a group of Fijians doing field work in Nz ,they were the kindest ,humble beautiful people ,when I didn’t bring lunch they always offered food ,and ate together as a village people do ,so lovely

I'm so glad that Mark Weins popped up on U Tube about 3 years ago while I was looking through recipes. I absolutely love the shows. Mark, you've taught me so much about various cultures and the food eaten all around the world. I love to cook so I've started making various dishes I've seen on your show. Thank you for sharing with all of us. If you're ever in the state of Kentucky please post it. I'd love to see you in person. Not to mention how respectful you are of every place you visit. Thank you again!!! Susie from Ky
Wow just beautiful. The waves crashing on the shore. You are very lucky.
Mark is an amazing host, his sense of humour is top tier, and he's just such a likeable person, love this show.
In Java, the leaves at the beginning of the video are called Moringa leaves (daun katu). They are usually cooked in a soup with garlic and kencur (aromatic ginger), good for breastfeeding women
Since i was a kid i have always sid one day i wanted to get a one-way ticket to Fiji and never look back...this just sparked that dream back up
Shout out to Mark Wiens for bringing us yet again a wonderful tour of an island culture, cuisine, and beautifully filmed and edited. You really have made huge strides in your editing and documenting of wonderful food moments, a true inspiration.
