One of the best features I really like this game has that makes it so fun is the ability to transfer your player character from one campaign to another to other players stories and even brand new ones without having to restart without all your stuff and stats.
Well done for being brave and starting on guerrilla. There was a 9mm pistol on top of the ice cream hut when you come out of the house, and if you had done the side mission 1st you would have got a hunting rifle. Keep up the good work.
I will say that the story is not where this game shines. Where it shines the most is the combat. I've spent most of my 100 hours of playtime just staying in the same region just shooting the biggest robots possible. I love the game from the bottom of my heart even with the bugs that it has.

this game is brutal. We need more of these simple, open world fps games. This game is up there with the original Crysis & Far Cry 2, and on higher difficulties the atmosphere can become so tense, you really have to think every move through before you advance. Really hope we get a sequel or another game from this studio
I've put a decent amount of hours into this game since release and finally platinumed it. plus the dev's are amazing, the game is amazing and i believe its having a final update soon which is good cause i need more experimental weapons but also sad because this game is the first game that i believe is perfect as an allrounder. i highly recommend finishing game and the dlcs specifically the fnix rising and himfjall island.
As an experienced GZ player i can safely say THE MACHINES ARE COOL AF! Also a word of the wise try to aim for components like fuels cells and sensors. Use soft point/hollow point ammo for max damage on components (if you can hit your shots). If you arnt the best shot then use armor piercing and focus their armor platings. FMJ is also a good round if your not the best shot but at the cost of potentialy less damage per shot compared to landing a shot with a specialized ammo type. Another thing, crafting materials are incredibly valuable so loot as much as you can in the early game.
I played this on normal and it was hard and going down was going to happen on this level, see if you can make it but chances are you will die and if you played it like i did stealth is possible and works like far off you need to wait until they turn to move forward and you could of made it inside alerting them all is a big mistake.
This looked pretty interesting, so I got in cheap shortly before release. It would be the last game I every pre-ordered. After a dozen hours or so, my game began crashing randomly for no good reason, which was a known problem. Only advise we got was starting a new character (bug in the rival system), but that didn't fix the issue. I went on a dev stream to ask about it, got a "we don't know about this" and that was that. I tried again last year and still the same thing.
A new player! Oh my god! Welcome to the wonderful world of generation zero brother! Here we shoot robots who (even if your max level) can one shot you!
@SludgeWolf Hey just curious as to what system specs you have. I've been locked to 60FPS ever since day one release and would love to see higher FPS like you're getting while playing this game. There are lots of bugs still as mentioned in other comments and as stated it seems the devs do not care anymore. Most of the bugs are random from player to player. Keeping your video card up to date and always sync your saves with Steam seem to keep many of them at bay.
Hopefully I don't run into too many bugs! So far so good! I'm running a GTX 4080 and a i9-13900k so even when I'm recording, my frames are pretty good. Make sure you're not locking your fps somewhere like in vsync or settings, otherwise not too sure!!
This game has been free via my Xbox ultimate account for God knows how long and I finally gave it a chance. It is outstanding and I am loving my time spent in 80s Sweden so far!🎉
I got generation zero while it was free from playstation plus, played a bit but couldnt get really into it for some reason. I forgot about the game for a while and it wasnt til 3 days ago did when i was bored and ive strictly been playing it since ive been sleeping on peak
It's such an underrated game, although I stopped playing in the end game as the DLC weapon packs I bought would never spawn in, got so frustrated not being able to find anything about a couple stars, if at all, and conciquently stopped playing. But it's one of the most immersive games out there with an amazing soundtrack.
The weapons from the DLC appear in the box in each safehouse, they aren't marked with anything and turn into normal weapons you can find in the game too.
I'm cautious about this game's developer because of what happened to Second Extinction (which I'm still bitter about), but I started playing this last night, and so far it's fun, and the atmosphere is creepy in the best way. So I hope it goes well.
Oh yeah, I loved playing this game, just something about it.. It took me a little bit to pick it up, didn't get it on release but when I did it was great fun. Also it's the very first game I 100 percented on steam.
This game could've been amazing had the vision for it been streamlined, it's an amazing concept, but it loses all weight fast. If there's ever a sequel, there is no doubt in my mind post-apocalyptic 80s Sweden could be as famous as post-nuclear 2077 America from Fallout
I purchased this game when it came out and me and my sons all played it but back than it had no real story and even than the game looked real nice but i enjoyed it but the end was not given even on the game, force you to by another DLC to get the full end story and that what made me upset at these developers ending the game with no end and it did have some major unbalanced issue with combat and ammo was very poor and to make ammo was super hard.
I have it on PC and PS5, but the PC version is really buggy and crashes a lot in multiplayer. PS version is much more stable. The DLC packs are not expensive and come out at a decent interval that they don't feel like they're pumping you for money. The only problem is when they release a new DLC pack or gameplay feature, they break multiplayer for about two months. You can group, but you don't get credit for doing any of the tasks in any game but your own. With the Latest "expansion' having just been released a few weeks ago, multiplayer is once again broken, but it's still fin to kill bots.
I enjoyed this game despite its many flaws and bugs, but after over 1k hours the unwillingness to expand the world but rather squeeze the fanbase with cosmetic and weapon dlc`s killed my motivation to play it any longer.
I’ve put a few hundred hours into this game and played for about two years or so on and off, first with the PS4 version and now the PS5 update which added 60fps but not a lot else visually, not that’s it’s a bad looking game. So, it’s a 8/10 game for me, enjoyable, stylish, atmospheric and has a decent story. Sadly the game needs a new island and the story is begging for the next chapter instead of stupid fort building, base assaults etc. also, it could do with a couple more enemy mech designs. Finally, the engine needs an overhaul, especially on console. I’m gagging to return to the game, just need a compelling reason to do so.
I may not watch you next one on this game due to i own the game and have not tried it out after finishing it way back than but did subscribe to your channel i like trying new people if they have morals and do not overstep the boundaries of things we do not care about i will keep watching them but i will finish this one for you to get the view.
now, to say generation zero is a survival game is a stretch, there are no survival elements besides not getting killed. This is a action loot shooter. And it does that well, and its fun game to play if yer two to four players, its not a game id play in singleplayer. The developers did some stupid moves making the game. but as of now when i write this, the game is fun, especially when yer fighting the robots. Wich is what you do, u hunt and destroy robots, and they are very cool and at times hard. U need lots of ammo, healthpacks, and to find some nice guns. The story is ok, but idont care about the story, its fun visiting places is this world of fake sweden. The game looks really good now, and iam amazed on how big the world is, and now you have random enemy spawn patrols wich is fun. Have a favorite beverage, kill some robots, loot, get as much steel as possible. As for survival, its healthpacks and adrenalin shots, there are no cold, wet, warm thirsty elements to care about. Base building is not for survival at all. Its just a thing u do when u get tired of the action. But its not important at all. Missions are just reasons to go from point a to b and so forth. If u want you can read the mission objectives and story, but again, its really not important. to make this into a survival game, ud need to find clothes for all kinds of weathers to keep dry and warm or cold, food to keep the hunger at bay. Building a base should have enemy encounters attacking your base, wich they arent, u need to activate that in your base, and u get x amount of waves u need to take out. And u have three levels of waves. There really isnt any reason given by the game to build a base, except getting those extra waves. you can choose to explore the dead world, kill robots and loot. That it more or less. Its enough. But it leaves u wanting a better designed experience, Since i play it in coop only, theres been a few times the game just crashes on you for no apperant reason, and when they release updates, u never know how broken the game will be when u start it, so dont fall in love with your stuff. Pro tip, when u stop playing, make sure to put yer favorite guns in storage. But then again, u never know if an update will come and clean out your inventory either. Stuff like that, makes it difficult to care about the game. Some areas, for me as a swede, i recognize wich is fun, like ive been in that house, or that place. Theres a lot of "locked" doors in this game, wich would be fun if they werent. Some mechanics work, but arent fleshed out enough. If they were it would add an dimension to the game. But as of now theres not a lot of ppl keeping this game alive at the studio. And it seems they are making something new, hopefully it might be something similar and more fleshed out. For the price of the game at a sale, its worth it, if u want a game u can play with close ones.
Thanks for the tips! The game is marketed as a survival horror on Steam (it's listed in that category) and while there is an absence of hunger, weather and thirst mechanics, I feel like it's still fair to call it survival horror. My character is horrified and trying to survive a scary robot menace. With the building mechanics on top of that, I feel like it's entirely fair to call it Survival Horror. I don't think I'd call it just a survival game though, you're right. Either way, for 5 bucks, it was a good deal!
Yes its a matter of perspective, i dev myself, so survival, has a set of a specific mechanics, as an looter shooter. Now, id love to see survival mechanics and a base building similar to arc/sons of the forrest. But its a fun game gen zero. Especially if u play with a friend and more. As long as u like it, its good. The marketing however becomes kinda like yer selling somethinf its not. Gen zero is more like borderlands 2 then arc survival or sons of the forrest etc. :).
its suppose to be a horror ??? really ??? i just confused? because i played so many games and this game particulary doesnt feel a horror at all and i feel much more likely comfortable when i see this lands (i like this game because it gives same feel like stalker)
I hopped back in because you kept saying “survival” game. Unless I’m missing something there is no survival mode and literally no survival elements (eating, drinking, sleeping, limited/no fast travel), etc etc Unless you mean survival as in “don’t let the enemies kill you”? But by that standard CoD would be a survival game.
I started playing Generation Zero a few days after it got released.

Note use the Bicycles save on stamina, hint, hint Oh well.
haha the genZ community really all just came to watch this video
now, to say generation zero is a survival game is a stretch, there are no survival elements besides not getting killed.
Its enough. But it leaves u wanting a better designed experience,
Since i play it in coop only, theres been a few times the game just crashes on you for no apperant reason, and when they release updates, u never know how broken the game will be when u start it, so dont fall in love with your stuff.
@@loverschoice885 Makes sense to me!
its suppose to be a horror ??? really ??? i just confused? because i played so many games and this game particulary doesnt feel a horror at all and i feel much more likely comfortable when i see this lands (i like this game because it gives same feel like stalker)
Is co op only thru online thou???? I hate that they dont make couch coop games. Like someone of us can't afford abox live and PS 4 5 onlinve BS
Tjis is the one reason why i still havent got this game. No co-op :/
Umm if you actually look it has multiplayer up to 4 people console or pc
It definitely has co-op and has had it for many years if not at launch.
This game is far from horror
Until you’re chilling in a house looting and get jump scared by red eyes from a window and loud as hell robot sounds lol
i wouldnt caqll it horror but what do i know lol
Did this studio just suffer layoffs affecting future content and patches?
I hopped back in because you kept saying “survival” game.
Unless I’m missing something there is no survival mode and literally no survival elements (eating, drinking, sleeping, limited/no fast travel), etc etc
Unless you mean survival as in “don’t let the enemies kill you”? But by that standard CoD would be a survival game.

This isn’t a survival horror game bro
bro this game is not your regular combat game. avoid combat as much as possible
generation zero is not a survival horror game its a pvc.
This..isn’t a survival horror game…nice clickbait but it won’t get you far.
Its not horror its your small brain
The devs classify this game as a Survival Horror on Steam. No need to be rude just because you disagree lol
