- I wanted to go back and revisit #GenerationZero 5 years later and see if it's still worth playing. While it may have some quirks, I honestly had a great time and am loving my experience so far. The world is beautiful, the robots are scary, and the guns are LOUD. Hope you enjoy!

I started playing Generation Zero a few days after it got released.
Now, 5 Years later, i spent more than 1000 hours in the game and still enjoy it🎉🎉🎉.
That's awesome to hear man!! The game is so unique and I really had a lot of fun checking it out. Definitely will be playing more of it for sure.
Me too.
I've only been Lurking / Observing other game channels run it.
I LIKE the _environment_ the visuals are great.
@@SludgeWolf: Yes, more Generation Zero Videos would be AWESOME🎉. And i"ll be waiting in the Comments to Support you with everything i know about the game😂.
for someone who lives in Finland and visited Sweden multiple times the houses look so familiar and nostalgic, i was born in 97. I played through this game once, around 40 hours but it just got stale after that, the enemy spawn rate is ridiculous imo, it just feels like swatting flies with no sense of excitement anymore sadly.
These robots are terrifying! When you met the first NPC my immediate thought was "That's a robot imitating a human voice!" lol
Glad to see you keeping up the grind!
Dude they don't mess around lmao haha much love Plabs!!
Looks exactly like in the game in parts of Sweden. Spot-on rural Swedish 90s vibe.
That "adorable" doghouse isn't actually a doghouse. It's a kids playhouse. Good content!
That's awesome man, I'm really having fun exploring the map. Glad you enjoyed the video!
most bots have various weak points that you would normally end up learning about either through regular gameplay and trial / error or by the intel perks with the binoculars, either way, if you dont know how to take down a bot --> shoot anything that glows // gas canisters on their back are usually the focus of your fire // joints can be damaged, weapons can be shot off // more bullets always solves the problem
more than just how fun the game is, i love the vibes this game has of wondering through the forest in winter, coming across a small town/cabin and while looting, hear machines getting closer outside... now with the soviet invasion update that loneliness is kinda gone, which personally i miss. I can understand how some would find it boring but me personally, the vibes were the best [soviet is not a bad update i just miss the more lonlely/horror vibes the game used to have]
Yo thanks for the tips man!! And yeah the vibes of this game really make it stand out compared to others for sure.
i've played since launch and i love the game, never had any major issues either. the story is good, the combat is relatively smooth, and exploring actually feels fun.
I'm so shocked it's 5 years old haha I can't wait to see the rest of it
Beat the game several months ago and holy shit is it fun. I messed around with it every now n then for a few years but it was definitely worth it to play it all the way through. Prolly one of my top 5 games
Damn man I'm so glad I got it for such a good deal then!
Do you have the fnix and himfjäll dlc? If you dont, get! :)
Very good video man! I think Generation Zero is a really good game. Played it way back when. Still holds up and even still looks good.
Thanks for the watch! Having a lot of fun coming into it 5 years late with most things all polished and ready to play
Pretty underrated game, I played it a little a few years ago
Hell yeah man I'm excited to play more of it and try out coop!
Great game keep up the work
there is option to swap it from hold to interact to tap, changing it has saved my life a few times in the game. been playing this for the years.
the four legged runners have a fuel tank on the back.
That's HUGE!! Thanks for the tip!!
@@SludgeWolf glad it helps, once you get to lvl twenty rivals will drop experimental weps aka tier 6. base defense is a fun way to lvl also once progressed story wise.
all the robots also have schematics that will show their week points, and the data analysis skill point helps figure out the weak points and health.
I just found that option in the settings. I have to get used to it now😅
The algorithm gods have blessed you today and you have found yourself another subscriber my good friend. Please I’m begging you please make another fun and entertaining gen z video here on TH-cam.
As someone who’s played the shit out of this game and I can tell you right now that the game is fun both solo and with friends. With friends it completely chaotic but solo is very immersive.
From the wonderful words of IGP “DERGS have explosive backs” and hunters, that big ass car sized machine machine gun can be shot off if you aim for it much like every other machine in the game.
Thanks for the advice man! Game is so much fun. Glad you found the channel and hope you enjoy some of the videos I've got cookin! I'm thinking of doing another Gen Z video after I've sunk some more hours in for sure and have more to say. Had a blast streaming the game on Twitch and getting deeper into it.
Nice video i enjoyed it.
Iv played since day 1, it’s come along way but still could have so much more in it
Hell yeah; do you think the Alpine Unrest stuff is worth checking out?
@@SludgeWolfoh ya man the dlc is really damn fun personally like Fnix rising more but alpine unrest offers more weapons and loot compared to Fnix rising’s storyline plus a whole new island to explore
@@goliathsupreme-1279 Hell yeah man
play to upgrate your level , get high level guns and have fun :D
@SludgeWolf Hey just curious as to what system specs you have. I've been locked to 60FPS ever since day one release and would love to see higher FPS like you're getting while playing this game. There are lots of bugs still as mentioned in other comments and as stated it seems the devs do not care anymore. Most of the bugs are random from player to player. Keeping your video card up to date and always sync your saves with Steam seem to keep many of them at bay.
Hopefully I don't run into too many bugs! So far so good!
I'm running a GTX 4080 and a i9-13900k so even when I'm recording, my frames are pretty good. Make sure you're not locking your fps somewhere like in vsync or settings, otherwise not too sure!!
This looked pretty interesting, so I got in cheap shortly before release. It would be the last game I every pre-ordered.
After a dozen hours or so, my game began crashing randomly for no good reason, which was a known problem. Only advise we got was starting a new character (bug in the rival system), but that didn't fix the issue. I went on a dev stream to ask about it, got a "we don't know about this" and that was that. I tried again last year and still the same thing.
Damn that's so frustrating
Please make a playthrough of this game
Definitely thinking about doing another video this month showcasing late game gear and mechanics!!
I may not watch you next one on this game due to i own the game and have not tried it out after finishing it way back than but did subscribe to your channel i like trying new people if they have morals and do not overstep the boundaries of things we do not care about i will keep watching them but i will finish this one for you to get the view.
Such a good game and a 5 year veteran i loooooooove this game BUT, last night generation zero fucked me over for the LAST TIME!!! The 9/10 safe house disappearing BUG which happend like 12 times to me is STILL not FIXED and im done my heart is broken the devs dont give a shit about their players and im not the only one with this STUPID BUG..!!!
Damn that sounds horrible, thanks for the warning man!
I Haven't had that problem
Note use the Bicycles save on stamina, hint, hint Oh well.
Wanna try this game
Definitely was worth picking up on sale
Its on Game Pass, its also not a $70 game everywhere else. I recommend it. :)
now, to say generation zero is a survival game is a stretch, there are no survival elements besides not getting killed. This is a action loot shooter. And it does that well, and its fun game to play if yer two to four players, its not a game id play in singleplayer. The developers did some stupid moves making the game. but as of now when i write this, the game is fun, especially when yer fighting the robots. Wich is what you do, u hunt and destroy robots, and they are very cool and at times hard.
U need lots of ammo, healthpacks, and to find some nice guns. The story is ok, but idont care about the story, its fun visiting places is this world of fake sweden. The game looks really good now, and iam amazed on how big the world is, and now you have random enemy spawn patrols wich is fun.
Have a favorite beverage, kill some robots, loot, get as much steel as possible.
As for survival, its healthpacks and adrenalin shots, there are no cold, wet, warm thirsty elements to care about. Base building is not for survival at all. Its just a thing u do when u get tired of the action. But its not important at all. Missions are just reasons to go from point a to b and so forth. If u want you can read the mission objectives and story, but again, its really not important.
to make this into a survival game, ud need to find clothes for all kinds of weathers to keep dry and warm or cold, food to keep the hunger at bay.
Building a base should have enemy encounters attacking your base, wich they arent, u need to activate that in your base, and u get x amount of waves u need to take out. And u have three levels of waves.
There really isnt any reason given by the game to build a base, except getting those extra waves.
you can choose to explore the dead world, kill robots and loot. That it more or less. Its enough. But it leaves u wanting a better designed experience,
Since i play it in coop only, theres been a few times the game just crashes on you for no apperant reason, and when they release updates, u never know how broken the game will be when u start it, so dont fall in love with your stuff. Pro tip, when u stop playing, make sure to put yer favorite guns in storage. But then again, u never know if an update will come and clean out your inventory either.
Stuff like that, makes it difficult to care about the game.
Some areas, for me as a swede, i recognize wich is fun, like ive been in that house, or that place. Theres a lot of "locked" doors in this game, wich would be fun if they werent. Some mechanics work, but arent fleshed out enough. If they were it would add an dimension to the game. But as of now theres not a lot of ppl keeping this game alive at the studio. And it seems they are making something new, hopefully it might be something similar and more fleshed out.
For the price of the game at a sale, its worth it, if u want a game u can play with close ones.
Thanks for the tips!
The game is marketed as a survival horror on Steam (it's listed in that category) and while there is an absence of hunger, weather and thirst mechanics, I feel like it's still fair to call it survival horror. My character is horrified and trying to survive a scary robot menace. With the building mechanics on top of that, I feel like it's entirely fair to call it Survival Horror. I don't think I'd call it just a survival game though, you're right. Either way, for 5 bucks, it was a good deal!
Yes its a matter of perspective, i dev myself, so survival, has a set of a specific mechanics, as an looter shooter. Now, id love to see survival mechanics and a base building similar to arc/sons of the forrest.
But its a fun game gen zero. Especially if u play with a friend and more.
As long as u like it, its good. The marketing however becomes kinda like yer selling somethinf its not. Gen zero is more like borderlands 2 then arc survival or sons of the forrest etc. :).
@@loverschoice885 Makes sense to me!
I purchased this game when it came out and me and my sons all played it but back than it had no real story and even than the game looked real nice but i enjoyed it but the end was not given even on the game, force you to by another DLC to get the full end story and that what made me upset at these developers ending the game with no end and it did have some major unbalanced issue with combat and ammo was very poor and to make ammo was super hard.
I played this on normal and it was hard and going down was going to happen on this level, see if you can make it but chances are you will die and if you played it like i did stealth is possible and works like far off you need to wait until they turn to move forward and you could of made it inside alerting them all is a big mistake.
Did this studio just suffer layoffs affecting future content and patches?
Its not horror its your small brain
The devs classify this game as a Survival Horror on Steam. No need to be rude just because you disagree lol
