The flaming bull head is the logo for the Wacken Open Air Festival which happens every year around August. The biggest metal festival in the world. Nightwish is best experienced live.
Enjoyed your reaction. Nightwish has been around since 1996. The singer, in this performance, became an official member in 2013. The guy on keyboards is the leader of the band and the main song writer & composer.
Matt, I really enjoyed this. It's always fun seeing someone hear this band for the first time without knowing what to expect. I knew you were likely looking at your phone for lyrics, it's no big deal at all. Nightwish fans are passionate and want reactors to have the very best experience, and sometimes deal with people who only want to get through the video for monetization purposes and put on an act to attract views and subs. You were not that, for sure. Appreciate the authentic reaction. I discovered this band almost a year ago and now feel like I've followed them for a lifetime. Believe me when I say it's a journey worth taking. Stick with it, follow Gabriel's advice, filter the noise, and enjoy the ride!

Aimless Matt perfect, I think listening through with as few pauses as possible is the best way to absorb the emotions of the music the way the artists intended. Especially true with Nightwish.

Live is definitely the way to go with Nightwish; the energy between the band and the audience brings the experience to a while new level. You're better off sticking to live videos from Wacken 2013 (this concert), as the sound and visuals are crystal-clear, the band is on-point, and the crowd is completely lit. Every song in the concert is a gem in one way or another, so it's a really good introduction for the new Nightwish listener. To all the other sugggestions, let me add "Dark Chest Of Wonders", the Wacken show-opener. You'd expect them to start off strong, and they do not disappoint.

Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing in 2013 at Wacken Open Air festival, in front of a 82k+ audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Well, I have good news for you: Nightwish is definitely a live band, most of their recorded performances being live, in concerts. They released music video as singles, to promote their newer albums - so you'll find a handful , from all eras of the band. So it's a good chance to continue this discovery journey.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Originally Floor was sent by Allfather Odhinn to Midgard to gather the souls of fallen warriors to Valhalla, but she
got distracted and joined a series of bands. However, Floor still gathers souls by her grace, beauty and the sheer power
of her vocals.
We give thanks for her at our Blots regularly and hope that Odhinn won't notice that she has never returned to Asgard.

Nightwish are from Finland, though Floor (singer) is from the Netherlands. They’ve been around since the mid-90s, snd you’re right as far as watching their live videos is the way to go. Not all of their songs are epic like this...they have songs that are much heavier than this, others that are more straight-forward rock songs, others that are more folk-influenced...very diverse band. From this same Wacken 2013 show I’d recommend Song of Myself, Storytime, Romanticide, Everdream, and I Want My Tears Back. But really you can’t go wrong with anything from this particular concert. Subbed.

Nice reaction! Nightwish is always best live. Try next something heavier with Nightwish. You already got some great suggestions to some heavier songs.
The best recorded Nightwish concerts are: Wacken 2013, Wembley Arena 2015, Tampere 2015 and Buenos Aires 2018. Helsinki 2005 with the original female lead vocalist is very good too.

I’m guessing you were looking at the lyrics on your phone, but your reaction would have been better if you would pay less attention to your phone and more to the performance. A lot of The Nightwish live performances come with the lyrics as subtitles. This score showcases Floor’s versatility and range. You would probably get more enjoyment out of their heavier pieces. Try Storytime, Romanticide or Ghost River to name a few from the same Wacken 2013 concert. 😄🤘 Remember, with Nightwish, live is best. Their live performances are better than most bands studio work.
It's hard to understand the high opera singing words but I thought I paid attention to the video fairly well lol
@@aimlessmatt9432 I’m a professional reaction watcher. Ya, I just made that up. When you spend 50% of the time not looking at the video people are going to notice. Some reactors will watch for a bit, pause and do a lyric review to try to figure out what the composer had in mind. Tuomas is very poetic so sometimes this is not easy without some thought or an internet search. 😄
It looks like he has no interest to this Song!!! You cannot concentrate a 100% to both things in the same time. For me this is only a 4 out of 10. Sorry, about my Bad english, i'm only german
