I bought several this summer- major investment! Not sure if they are worth the hype. Mine are very thin and flat, but the edges want to curl. Be careful when vacuuming not to catch the edge or, as with any rug, the binding will easily unravel. I bought one large, heavier outdoor one which has never dried quickly after rain. I am hopeful I can dry it over a railing before winter but have concerns it will be difficult to clean and maintain.
It's really nice to get an honest review. You answered all the questions I've heard on these rugs. I did hear another review about the corners curling up, but think it was before the new corners were introduced. Very good, thank you!
I've been considering buying a couple of these rugs. Between the dog, my farm boy hubby, and life in general I need a practical solution. You've convinced me to take the plunge and buy them. Thanks
I have 3 of them, (all different sizes) and I am really enjoying them ...I’ve had them about 2 1/2 years... (I also have two 6 month old puppies, and ceramic tiles underneath with no problems🥰)
Thank you! I'm frequently replacing my area rugs due to pets and kids and this just justified the Ruggable price instead of an Amazon bargain or Costco.
The light gray one I purchased, the big 9x12 one I think...it gets walking path and washing it at the laundrymat did not work. But it does clean with a Bissel steam cleaner. I'm one person in my house.
Oh, a really useful and helpful video! It's been harder in recent years to find replacement rugs that are non slip, and I've wondered about Ruggables more than once. When we redid our floors a few years ago we put narrow light wood planks in the high traffic areas except for tiles at the entries and carpet elsewhere, and find even rugs with rubberised backing will slip and slide. I've replaced several because of safety issues due to age and health and ended up taking rugs away altogether except at the entries and kitchen sink. Thanks for the detailed info, I'll have to check out Ruggables and see if I like the styles, I hope so! Bare wood is nice in hot weather but not so much in the cold. 😊❤
Thank you for your clear review, especially the bit about Ruggablechanging the corners of the rug to stop the curling. That was my biggest concern, but I was also aware that the comments I was reading were from 3-4 years ago, and didn’t know whether this had been fixed or not! I think I’m now ready to order a 6x9 for under the dining table, and a 4x6 for in front of the couch. Thanks for putting my mind at rest! ❤️.
We recently bought a Ruggable rug for our living room but it wasn't the right colour and sadly I needed to exchange it. Unfortunately they don't offer exchanges to customers in Canada, so I had to ship the rug cover back as a return which cost me a little over $170.00 and then purchase a new one. I hope that as the company grows they can offer other return and exchange options for those outside of the USA.
Someone suggested that due to the cost of returning the rug, they just advertised it on social media, and it sold immediately, and the person buying it didn’t have to wait weeks for delivery. Just a thought…
Thanks for this review. I’ve been thinking about purchasing a Ruggable rug and you answered a lot of my questions and concerns. I think I will go for it. I don’t mind spending more money if I can easily wash the rug myself. Many times I see carpets or rugs in homes that appear to need a good cleaning but you know it’s a pain to take it somewhere and steam cleaning can be costly. I saw a nice tip if you wanted a larger rug but didn’t want to spend more money or afraid you couldn’t fit it in the washing machine: buy a larger neutral, jute or woven rug and place a smaller ruggable rug on top of it. Layering always looks nice and gives a designer look. Thanks diy mommy!
Amazing review. Worth watching entire video. I cannot imagine having a non-ruggable rug in the kitchen. With kids my kitchen is basically a circus. I refuse to put a rug in there that cannot be washed and washed well.
No matter ...and I've used tape and padding...whatever...the entire rug curls along the edges. I have to use lengths of tape to keep it laying flat. Pet hair also sticks to the Ruggable underpad. Otherwise, it fits in my front loader machine, washes nicely and dries quite quickly (outside clothes line).
We purchased our first Ruggable runner this spring for our kitchen and I love it! We got the extra cushion-y underpad for extra comfort when washing dishes or prepping meals. We love it. It has a light beige background with a light grey and peach pattern. We have washed it once and spot clean it as needed. We did throw it in the dryer. It came out beautifully. Our iRobot vacuum cleaner sometimes flips up the corners of the rug but usually this is not an issue and they are easily flipped back and lay flat. Ours does have the corner reinforcement. Would I get another runner? Absolutely! I’m thinking about one for my front entrance and a smaller mat for my back door. (Just waiting for a sale 😊) I think if I were to buy a larger rug I would look at the newer plush styles. I think that format would look more luxurious in a larger format size. But thanks for the size tip on fitting in the washing machine. And I do love your runner. It’s beautiful!
Great video! I've always been curious about these but have not taken the plunge. Good to know that the largest ones might not fit in regular washing machine.
A trick for rug corners flipping up that I have used is: take a glass of water, set it on the corner. Then, put an ice cube or two on the area, and once it melts, the glass of water weighs down the corner, and it dries flat!!
Good to know, thanks. I'm not crazy about the idea of shaking out vs vacuuming, but great that option comes with base pad! Runners would be my choice also, in hearing your review. Thanks again, enjoy your weekend ❤ Which one is your black and white runner bold print?
I ordered 2 of the one you showed in a cabin you were redoing. (W teal kitchen appliances). I have them in my kitchen. ❤️ the runners too! I simply use water for spot clean. Works great.
I found a ruggable runner topper in goodwill bins, it has no markings on it in great shape but no pad. I am seeing that people are saying with the pad the edges of the corners cum up right, I have never owned one before or a pad, what is the pad made of? is it like those rubber yoga mats? I am curious is those velcro peel and stick things , if they would work to put them down on your floor and on the corners and parts of your rug to hold it down or in place? Has anyone done this?
Not being able to vacuum these is a deal breaker. Who wants to drag an 8x10 rug outside every week and beat it with a bat basically like we are on little house on the prairie ? No-go....
@@thediymommy I have the same issue. I have several Ruggable and washable rugs and I can't vacuum any of them. I have tried 5 different types of vacuums/manual sweepers. None work. The only thing that has worked great but a pain to clean is my Tineco wet/dry vacuum. What do you use???!
I vacuum mine all the time with my Dyson. I've had it for several years. It's in a heavy traffic area. We have 2 dogs and two cats. It's been washed many times, and it looks like new.
On their website they say: "We are committed to providing products that are safe and non-toxic to our customers. Our products meet regulatory health and safety standards in the geographies where we sell, and even when we are not required to do so, we go above and beyond to test our Rug Covers and Rug Pads to ensure that VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions, phthalates, lead, mercury and other heavy metals are not present at levels deemed to be toxic to humans under normal use conditions."
Been looking for a comment regarding washing at home (in a regular size washer). Seems to me, it wouldn’t get cleaned well, I am also making the investment to wash at laundry mat. Thank you for your honest comment.
Weve had our Ruggable rug for almost three years. I love it!! Its not as white as it was but that's not its fault - it's our water. It washes well but I probably should take it to a laundry mat and have it professionally cleaned and away from our rusty water.
Does it feel nice to walk on? They look so thin. I like a bit of pile under foot and I worry this wouldn’t have a soft feeling. Maybe that comes from the underpad?
What is this rug-base made out of? Is it really special and needed for those rugs? I think its weird that the base costs almost as much as the rug itself and I am thinking about just getting the base from somewhere else for a fifth of the price.
I have 3 of them but the one with the thicker underpad in the kitchen moves/creeps all the time. It is on laminate floor so I can’t figure out how to fix it. Have contacted support and they are now suggesting Velcro. Have you heard of anyone doing that. Thanks.
The curling at the corners is obnoxious but if you put a few ice cubes on the corners and weight it down with a shoe or something it will flatten right out
I have 7 of them of variable sizes. They ALL move. I had them on a ln awful hardwood floor that we replaced and now on a new one. They slide. It’s so aggravating.
@@thediymommy ya the corners are good it’s the whole side that flips up! It good after I wash it then flips up in a couple days. Too bad because I love the ability to wash it!
I'm not impressed with the Ruggable runner I had. Brand new out of the box, the binding around the edges was ragged and had loose threads that I had to melt with a lighter to keep them from coming undone and fraying further.
Thank you. My interest was COMPLETELY lost at "They don't recommend vacuuming it too often." The only 2 rooms I want to put rugs in are bedroom and living room and both would have beds, dressers, couches, tables etc. on TOP of them at all times... so I'll go with a regular rug that stays down and I can vacuum, over a washable one I have to move 16 pieces of furniture to wash. LOL LOL 😄😄
I have a large round Ruggable and the entire edge is a trip hazard. I have had it for a year and would not recommend. I have two rectangular Ruggable rugs and would not recommend any of them since there are many washable rugs on the market now which are better options.
Be careful with their quality control. I ordered a 6 x 4 and it actually measured at 6 foot 1 inch by 4. Not a huge issue unless you bought it for a specific place like I did. No exchanges in Canada, only returns for a fee. I am disappointed and sad and even on sale I think these are super expensive
I purchased an Eleganza rug from Rugvista, and it turned out to be the worst rug I have ever owned. The quality is extremely poor, to the point where it sheds so much that it clogs the vacuum cleaner and leaves clumps of hair all over the house. This is especially dangerous for my young child, who ends up with the fibers in his mouth. Despite being a loyal customer since 2020, Rugvista refused to either exchange the rug or refund my money. I cannot believe that a company I previously had good experiences with has treated me this way. Not only do they sell low-quality products, but they also do not take responsibility when a customer has a legitimate issue. I would not recommend Rugvista to anyone looking for a quality rug. I have had much better rugs at more reasonable prices. Avoid this store if you value your money and peace of mind.
Don’t buy Ruggable! I have a 4.5 cubic feet front load washer and washed my flat woven 9x12 rug and it almost destroyed my washer. I had to take out fully soaked. Customer Care did not care.

I like the fact that vacuuming is not recommended. A good shake does the trick!
It's so cool to learn that Ruggable listened to their customers' feedback about the corners curling up and spent the extra time and money on a fix.
I bought several this summer- major investment! Not sure if they are worth the hype. Mine are very thin and flat, but the edges want to curl. You can put baking soda in your wash machine for odors
i absolutely adore that black 6x9 one you have in your vacation rental. gorgeous pattern with the line art and the flowers i love it

How do you clean the under pad if pets have "accidents" on the rug that soak through to that layer? Does just wiping it down eliminate the smell?
