These old Japanese vehicles are cool as hell but they can hide some serious neglect or shady 'repairs'. My '91 Toyota Pickup (Hilux everywhere but Canada and US) went in for pads and rotors and turned into upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer wheel bearings, shocks and new calipers because they had never been changed in the truck's entire life. I'm rooting for ya, Nate. I love your Corolla and 720. Sad to hear the 510 is just too far gone to save.
That’s a crushing feeling. I’m very sorry. Dealing with cars is so fun but also incredibly frustrating (especially the money). I hope one day you get your dream fulfilled with the Datsun. Continued support on your channels to do so 👍
RIP Datsun 510, that's heartbreaking, My eyes nearly popped out of my head at the cost to repair the unibody. At this point, its a parts car, hopefully some of the good parts from it will work for the new Datsun you're looking to get.
I can speak from experience with 1600s/510s if you are planning on getting another shell keep the scrap shell for the interim-as much as it is roached i guarantee you will need some rust cuts from somewhere on it for the new shell. Loving the vids, cheers from Aus 👍
Nice. I am working on an 83 Saab Turbo. No doubt it’s a weird but cool car. Everything is backwards. I understand why they no longer import them to the US
I hope the Corolla runs like a thoroughbred for you when you've finished. And you deserve a bit of luck with your replacement Datsun dream car too. I'm staggered by the amounts of money you mentioned. When the dream car is fixed up and running will you keep the Corolla, and run both?
I've worked on the Corolla so much now I want to keep it 😂 I wasn't going to, I planned to have it a year or so and move it on to someone else. But I will probably keep it now as a daily classic I guess
DAMNN that 510 is a skyline in japan it would be a great restomod. man with that ecu why dont you go with an aftermarket solution the engine on that corola. im hear from your review page! watched you where reading the hellraiser comics thanks! ohh the datsun 510 is called the datsun 1600 in canada and the us.
@@MrHVlogsMore eh im talking about the skyline 1500 (c10) its a sedan also called the bluebird. but the hakosaka refres to the 2000gt-r (kpgc10) the skyline for 1970 there's like 10 versions. the datsun was called the bluebird or 1300 1500 and 1600 there's even a 3ed company thats makes the car its called the Yue Loong Bluebird 706 there all based on prince bluebird. im just happy someone showing the old jdm love keep it up bro
It's a shame you couldn't just put the rotten shell in storage and sit on it as an investment, some of the prices for old rotten Fords are ridiculous , next 10 years any 510 might be worth crazy money, shame if it has to be scrapped somebody would restore if doing labour themselves and at least another 510 would still exist.
Ok Nate I wont make any coments about safety shoes this time ! BUT the last video and the Sunday stream ended with the engine and the gearbox not communicating , did you take the engine out again or did you pay someone to do it ?
@@MrHVlogsMore the one up near Silverstone. It's basically the spiritual successor to JAE. Not quite as big as the old days, but it's the only one I bother with every year now.
Yeah it'll be scrapped for scrap value if no one wants to buy it. It's pretty dog shit mate, you watched the video where I walk around it? Send me an email mrhreviews@gmail.com if you want to chat about buying it I guess!
I hope you keep doing these videos. Too many car You Tubers are shills who aren't giving a realistic picture of the vintage car experience.
Sorry to hear about your Datsun, Sir. RIP 🙏 🪦
Would totally buy a T-shirt. Found you because of culture stuff…… stayed because of car stuff.
May the Datsun rest in peace 🪦
Don't you mean rest in pieces

I take my hat off to you dude. You've got some grit about you. Keep going. 💪🏻
Thanks man
Got to love a bit of big port goodness. Man they sound good when the second inlet tract opens.. That is going to be a great little car.

RIP Datsun

Glad you are makimg progress with the corolla atleast. Keep making videos.
I'll buy a shirt. sorry to hear about the endless dramas, but I was wrapped to see the update on your ute, cant wait for that to get finished.
Yeah, don't blame you for scrapping the 510, that is a lot of money to fix it up. And at least the Toyota starts, so that's a win.
Nice. I am working on an 83 Saab Turbo. No doubt it’s a weird but cool car. Everything is backwards. I understand why they no longer import them to the US
I'll buy one. Hello from nz, I have a 77 ke35 in my garage.
Finish fixing up the Carolla, sell it, get another of your dream car!

510 is a great choice.
I hope everything works out well for you, buddy. Upset after upset.
RIP 🙏
Such a shame you've had to scrap your O.G 510. Hopefully you can source another one.👍
Sorry about the 510

No the 510 isn't a skyline in Japan, it's a 510 in Japan. It came before the hakosuka skyline you're referring to 😊

Scrapping the 510 is a good decision, not a happy one, but better to cut your loses and move on
Bad luck on the Datsun, its a shame that its now a rust lottery for cars this old, good luck on the next one
Easy to find none rusted ones in the states.

Nope! It was working all good! Was me being over meticulous
Are you going to Yakushi next month?
Oh I didn't even know it was on! Which meet was this? As theres a few each year isn't there?

When is it? I'll see if I'm free and have a car that's drivable 😂
@@MrHVlogsMore this weekend coming mate. I'm having to take my daily as both of my projects are currently off the road. I feel your pain.
How about a gofundme. Theres a lot on here i'm sure would support you in that way. Shame to see your dreams dashed
The 510 being scrap sucks, sorry dude. But good work on the Corolla and interested in the new Datsun making an appearance.
Shame about the Datsun mate 😢
Are you actually sending it off to scrap? I'm down south and a welder, possibly interested!

A shirt would look good man do it =)
Watching this, learning about your supply chain issues, makes me appreciate how incredibly spoiled Americans are..
Will you at least salvage it for parts?
It's a shell, no parts can be salvaged from it. The mechanical parts, sure.
@@MrHVlogsMore enough to fill a shed with then 👍🏼 keeping the glass? Hope the new one works out 🙏🏻
