Thanks for the video! Monster Week!!! Halloween is right around the corner, so the more monster the better. Huge write ups in that tome. I recall that wall of text period where more info rather than less was the order of the day. A sort of precursor to the 3.XE trope of templating various monstrous traits and overlaying them on other beings (anything can become a vampire, in this case) but giving us the end results directly.
I always love your monster videos. i also really love the Ravenloft vampires especially the gnome one but the dwarf is also cool. i have since finding out about the 2e monster compendiums in the last few years been wanting to use them and i think i may use them in the palace of the vampire queen as a fun old school idea to use the first stand alone adventure.
You had me at the monster manual and then it just got better. I know not everyone is a fan of the ring binders but I love mine to this day. I got archive sleeves and I just pop them in and out when needed. Thanks for really going into the details on the vampire. I am now inspired to use it in a future session!
A very interesting monster. I could enjoy using one of these in a blighted forest with blighted Ents (Treants). Naturally, a Banshee (Groaning Spirit), Will-o-wisp, and a very special “Elf Lycanthrope” would also be around to fill out the crowd. Of course, the natural setting for such an encounter would be Ravenloft, but I would also suggest using the Kingdom of Caer Sidi accessible via the Demonweb Pits of Lolth. Also, possibly, a Rob Kuntz module such as Garden of the Plantmaster or Cairn of the Skeleton King may be appropriate.
@@page121tabletoproleplaying4 Oh yes! That would be great. But having said that, maybe you could outline how to keep encounters challenging and yet realistic in the game? That might be a good start. But yes a video would be excellent. Another example - what are some key differences between a low-level game and a high level one, aside from the obvious difference in power. etc.?
For some high level, 12th plus, I might suggest using the Expert rules for D&D. There's some good advice in there. Also the Companion set would be very helpful.
Are you okay? Your voice/breathing sounds different. 🥺I watch your videos while I am waking up and cooking breakfast... It feels like I have a friend in my house that is nerding out on D&D LOL! We can't be having anything bad happening, because you are immortal LOL!
Interesting entry! Reminds me of Astarion from Baldur's Gate 3 lol. Technically he was just a vampire spawn though who was enslaved by a vampire lord. Does 2e, or advanced for that matter, have vampire spawn as well as full vampires?
Didn't know until today that the MC was in a binder, but it makes sense for a compendium like that. We ended up doing the same with our 2e GURPS rulebook when it fell apart. Never seen the Vampire Elf before. Great monster! Thanks!

I enjoy all of Page121 Tabletop Roleplaying Games videos 🎉🎉😅
Great video. This is another monster I've never seen before.
Where is my dwarf vampire?
@sebbonxxsebbon6824 look down, he's biting your shin

I really liked the idea of the 2nd edition 3 ring binder for monster manual. I wish they kept that format
I would love too see an entire video on Ravenloft vampires!
That was great, but now i need to know about the dwarf and gnome vampire!
Coming soon.
For a moment there I thought you said "Elvis Vampires" and damn if I don't want an April fools entry on that.
One to add to a special Halloween adventure.
Hi Page! Can you give some general tips on DMing a high level AD&D campaign? Some dos and don'ts?
Sure.
@@page121tabletoproleplaying4 Ok, so what do you suggest?
@@TheLoyalOfficer I thought you meant I should make a video about this topic. What did you want to talk about?

Nasty critter but then everything from Ravenloft is pretty nasty.

Breathing has been tricky lately but otherwise fine. Thanks for asking

Yep. Even 1st edition talked about vampire spawn.
👍🏻😎🦝👽
