This insight and understanding is something they can rarely provide. 06:43 _"I don't want to get too nerdy with you"_
    Always precedes the most interesting part of the video. Personally I find all that fascinating. The generative design process is really impressive and the final iteration reminds me of the sort of flower you'd see on a lily pad. I also love how Pirelli managed a work-around for rolling resistance, combined with Ian and the team's work relocating the main beams it just goes to show how important understanding the rule book is.
    Really enjoy these in-depth videos, and look forward to the upcoming review.
    P.S
    I do hope the new Mono makes it to Forza.

    • @lukereyes1025
      @lukereyes1025 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LorenzoClara97 just because he's into automotive engineering doesn't mean he HAS to stop playing forza. Forza is an amazing game, it's fun, aerodynamic DO effect cars, there is chassis flex if you know how to make t happen, and honestly depending on the game its either free roam and do whatever the hell you want, or race oriented where you HAVE to keep cars stock or in the same class. And it's a great gateway into racing games. Don't criticise based off of games, I love automotive engineering, I play forza, I don't like asseto or gran turismo, I can handle project cars, but the game doesn't effect my love and want to learn about automotive engineering, it's personal preference. And I respect that you don't like forza but you can't just go and tell someone to stop playing games, it's like telling a plane enthusiast to stop playing Ace Combat and play Microsoft Flight Simulator or Xplane. It's not cool at all. If they like Ace Combat and love planes, let them be. If they like forza and like cars, let them be. Be more accepting. That's what this world needs right now. Kindness, respect, accepting people.

It came few days later and I was amazed to see a bespoke beautifully milled piece of aluminium complete with weight saving cutouts in the shape of the BAC logo.
    Remember this is a part few owners will ever see.

    Watching as he explains the manufacturing processes he can use opposed to mass manufacturers, using the newer printing techniques, give you a whole new insight to the BAC Mono. You realise by the time Henry gives you the price that for something so well designed, with so much thought going in to how to produce and save weight, this is something special. That price doesn't seem so high when compared to some of those supercars, for something that is going to give you a proper single seater experience.

    I feel like BAC would make a really good single seater, sporty GT car. One with a roof, less hardcore, but gives you just as much theater when driving. The mono is good, but it's obvious that it belongs on the track, more so than on the road. Maybe even a lite version of the mono.

    • @LeOrangePotato
      @LeOrangePotato 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @kashimacoated like I said; a lite version of the mono. More road friendly. Only need room for 1 overnight bag, AC, and minimal sound dampening. People will buy it nonetheless, because if they keep it a single seater, there's literally nothing like it on the road. Of course you'll lose performance, but a GT car isn't all about performance. It's about enjoying the drive, and these guys seem to nail that aspect on the mono.

    What a fantastic film, well done. Fascinating car, fascinating discussion, I was completely absorbed. The depth of discussion was perfect, and Brigg's explanation of the engineering challenges and opportunities was so interesting. Refreshing to hear the way he talked about partner companies, big and small, giving credit to people in specialist companies as part of the overall team. When do you drive it Henry?

    BAC was founded by brothers Neill and Ian Briggs in 2009.
    The first Mono car was produced in 2011 and made its inaugural public appearance at the VIP launch of the Retro Classics show in Stuttgart, Germany.

    I didn't think it was possible to make it more beautiful than the original version, but I think they have. I don't think there's a more exciting car design (from an ascetic standpoint) out there right now. As a former school boy kart racer, and current owner of a Lotus Elise, this is the type of vehicle that appeals to me in terms of the engineering, dynamics and performance, but as a piece of art, the Mono takes my breath away.
    When I saw the original one in the flesh when Sector111 brought one to Mountain View, California, it didn't disappoint. Now I have to work out how to see (and sit in again) the new model.

    Cracking content for the true car enthusiast Henry! Way more interesting than the silly roof-less cars recently shown by the usual Supercar brands.

    Beautiful in it's purity and function! Such an amazing vehicle, though I'd still like it with the old 2.5 NA engine.

      @fraserwright9482 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      But its the same problem. They are using a Ford lump with a bunch of bolts sound. Beautiful car but aimed at the wrong path. F3 has to use a block from their own car. These guys have any engine configuration and they go for the worst sound. They could use the Ford Ecotec V6 or the Coyote V8 if they are blue oval boys.

    • @ALMX5DP
      @ALMX5DP 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@fraserwright9482 huh? Isnt this vehicle primarily about performance and aerodynamics (as the gentleman pointed out numerous times)? Of course there are better sounding engines, but this car you're going to be wearing a full helmet anyways and so an inline, longitudinal, compact engine is congruent with the overall ethos. And given they have the relationship with Mountune, it's a nobrainer what engine they went with.

      Fraser Wright You lost all credibility when you mentioned putting a Coyote V8 in a Mono, this isn’t “monsters garage” the car is small and meant to to be balanced in regards to power to weight ratio, if you put the V8 in it not only would you need to create a whole new chassis so it would fit but you’d also add a lot of weight and kill the balance of the entire vehicle.
