If the best part of your Sunday is when your wife and kids are asleep then you need to rethink your marriage. Why marry someone when you don't enjoy being around them? I'll never understand boomers in that regard.
@@Auto_PeasantI love my wife and kids and I can relate. It’s not about avoiding them, it’s that so much of your time is devoted to the family you love and care for it’s nice to have some guilt free personal time without having to sacrifice family time.
I bought one of the old models 3 years ago expecting just to do the odd track day. I did 11,000 miles in it. Just bought another (later) one. Sublime machine, there's nothing like it! Currently looking at overtime jobs to pay for a Mono 'r' LOL! (Unlike you lucky people in the USA we have to wait for the Winter to finish before we can get back on track. Not long now...)
"Unlike you lucky people in the USA" Uhh... you know it snows in like half of the US right? My corvette has been in storage for the past 6 months, lol.
Congrats Ian, you have come across SO well in this vid. I especially like how you thanked Jay when he complimented "the English". You also showed him great respect, and your enthusiasm towards "the automotive world" is self evident.
I typically strongly dislike videos with manufacturer reps, but he came across really well. He felt more like an enthusiast/ fan rather than a sales guy.
I've heavily admired the BAC Mono ever since I saw it gracing the pages of EVO way back well over 12 years ago when they were first producing them... An absolutely beautiful work of engineering and art - they should be mightily proud of what they've created and still create ! LOVE the Union Jack-themed R... Cheers, from a huge fan in western Canada !
Too expensive this Back-Mono that is why i 'm happy with my Go-Kart fitted with a Hayabusa motor + gearbox + brakes and exhaust it's a missile.. 💯🦽🏍💥💫💨
That smile usually means, "Sold!" And did I pick up a little foreshadowing when he twice said, "And if your wife doesn't want you on a motorcycle...." I'm sure Mrs, Leno would like to see Jay limit his bike riding these days, especially after he was nearly garroted on one of his side hacks. I wonder what paint scheme he's getting.
I did over 25K miles in a (nearly) 250bhp Caterham on both track and road, and when I sold it, it was with its original brake pads which looked barely worn. That weighed 520Kg (without the fat knacker behind the wheel). It did go through tyres quite quickly but as Ian Briggs noted here, you have to choose different tyres to those sold for normal road cars because normal tyres are simply too hard - lightweight cars just can't get them warm enough. I ran my Caterham on Avon tyres which are specially designed for lightweight specials. I love big American cars but I am proud of the British specialist car industry and the (relative) freedoms of our laws here that permit cars like the BAC Mono and Caterham to still exist.
Well I may never own or drive one but I do have one in my Gran Turismo garage - one of the first cars I bought in the game. WHAT a machine. So glad stuff like this exists for the lucky few that can own one. Cheers!
I feel like it's such an extreme and fast car that any road review doesn't even scratch the surface so there's not much jay can say about it. Great car. Well done
We’ve all dreamt of a F1 car for the road, so pleased these brothers had the skill set, background and passion to bring it to fruition. It’s the perfect blend of engineering, design and quality. Most people get that balance wrong. One of few products that can be appreciated by any person whether they are car enthusiasts or not.
That body design is my absolute favorite. The white colored upper body one really shows the form and the dramatic graphics. Great quality and fantastic attention to details. Thanks to you both for showing these remarkable cars.
Having owned a Sunbeam Tiger II I always thought about 2000 pounds was light with a fantasy of a Lotus 7 with a v8... There it is updated to current tech.
If this had a glass (of course whatever material) dome shield (jet fighter type) that slid forward/back to open/close it would make it at least a tad usable and would likely be a highlight feature, and likely make it MORE aerodynamic. It would fit perfectly to the roll bar enclosure. Wouldn't even have to be airtight and could be removable.
Second this! The lack of even a windscreen makes this a deal breaker. As someone who is shopping for an Ariel Atom, I can say I didn't get really interested until they added the windscreen. I can't be the only one who doesn't want to look like a knob head driving around town wearing a helmet. To the people who say that you don't HAVE to wear a helmet in a BAC, I would ask, have you ever been hit in the face by a large hard insect or a small rock while at speed?
There's a lady down the street from me who drives one of these all the time. She's had it for years and I bet it has 10s of thousands of miles by now. For a car like this, that's a lot.
I genuinely wanted to put on the national anthem when I watched this. Seriously though, how amazing is this car & how amazing are the brothers + team who developed it. Good on you all!
