Mary BS emBARRAsing's hydrogen fool cells 😂
😂😂😂
Don't quit your day job. ;)
Always remember GM killed the electric car. Imagine where they could have been.
They wouldn't have been much better on EVs no matter what, they didn't have the core competence in software and lithium batteries needed. But if they had kept going, Tesla might never have started.
Gm tried to kill front wheel drive in the 1930's.
@@tribalypredisposedGM killed electric cars multiple times in the past. It won't benefit them this time IMO.
@@user-gv4cx7vz8t GM is not big enough as a company to kill anything anymore. Yes, they are super dragging their feet on EVs, but management bonuses strongly incentivize them to. When your pay is based on profits, will you be excited to push strongly into EV production Knowing GM will lose money making them for the next decade or more while you scale up production? Okay, so GM will die if they don't, but upper management has golden parachutes and will be fine.
A 100% true, they burned their "brige"
The people who leased those cars loved them. - According to me
The stupidiest thing GM has ever done. - - The best wh. from Sweden.
GM exited Korean market because they couldn't even compete with Hyundai. What makes you think they will even come close to Tesla?! Lol
I see a lot of Hyundai/ kia ev driving around in the us .They are silently eating everyone's lunch.
Alternative to vw and gm small ev.
Gm in general is extremely misguided for the last 30y .
Musk isn't just making EVs. He is a one man industrial revolution.
Hyundai is best of rest.
@@markthomas7279 ....and no one saw them coming.
@@CHMichaelYeah. They will be paying for crushing the EV1 fir the rest of the company’s lifetime, whatever long that is.
"Year of execution". Love it! 🤣
Suicide?
hydrogen cars? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
because CNG worked so well...

Always my favorite way to end the week and to get ready for the next Tesla adventure that awaits come Monday! Thanks Lars!
Oxygen is the future! My revivifier is making a presentation to GM execs this week. They’re breathless with excitement!
No. Helium is the ticket
Naturanion is the best there is.
Everyone knows Unobtainium is the future.
No! Laughing gas is the future.
hahahaha
Some car makers are acting blind to the economy and think whatever price they put on a vehicle that the medium class can just pay for it. Most people are tired of paying as much as a house payment for a vehicle. I drive my vehicle until I cannot drive it anymore before I get a new vehicle.
So after digging around GMs website the fuel cells are not being built for light duty vehicles - rather specifically heavy equipment/energy storage. Even so Hydrogen is STILL going to be the most inefficient/expensive/risky solution.
It will be fabulous to see Tesla Semi truck rolling off the production line in quantity. The time with PepsiCo will have been invaluable. Tesla will be marketing the semi to areas where they will have built the charging infrastructure. The roll out of the semis and semi charging happen together. Watch the cost conscious trucking industry step up and take notice when this happens
Nope not for stationary energy storage it’s not it’ll work well free point of use energy
GMHonda investing $85M in hydrogen? Chicken feed.🐔
I suspect all the money is actually coming from the FF industry through the back door
Barely a PR project!
Tesla is spending like 20 billion in the next two years on factories and r and d. 85 million, this is a way to secret away millions into their executives bank accounts.
They blew the wad buying their own stock... Not much left for R&D after you line your own pockets.
Hang threw the wintertime. Spring is going to be. Awesomeness. For Tesla around the world YES🚘🚘 ‼️Tesla 🅾️2024🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
By th way WELCOME TO THE PPAAAAAARRRRRRTTYY
Tesla's price cutting is not only pressuring legacy automakers, but also raising the bar for EV startups. Unless a new company has established its foothold (like Rivian), the going will be much tougher ahead. China competition is also max'd out, so the days of new EV startups may be over.
Rivian looks neat, But Wright's law is killing them. Unless they quadruple production, they will never sell profitably.
Factories need to be big and running at 80%+. Tesla getting Berlin up from 4k/week to 6k/week alone is a cost cutting improvement. Then add Fremont , Austin, and Shanghai. Only BYD competes.
BEVs are now a mature market. It is a matter of growing production while cutting costs to stimulate demand.
@@External2737 BYD doesn't compete, the Chinese don't like their cars build quality, that's why they buy Teslas. As the price goes down (COGS) more Teslas will be sold.
@@tedmoss BYD grew and is profitable. Rivian, Lucent, and Ford are losing truck loads of money
I wouldn't buy a BYD, but there is always a market for cheap; an amazingly high volume market.
Tesla needs the model 2.
@@External2737BYD grows by imitating Tesla. Tesla's ability to innovate rapidly is superior. No one is competing with Tesla on taking the initiative, so far.
@@user-gv4cx7vz8t Agreed. My point is only two companies went enough in on EVs to thrive. Because they are thriving, so will EVs.
I was in Norway last year. In the residential street I lived every second house had a chargers, mounted on the side of the house, in the garage, on the fence out front. Apartment car parks had some chargers installed . So many EVs of lots of brands. Lots of Teslas of course. Once home charging has been installed it’s there for the longer term no matter if the residents change. This is how the work will go. To much focus is on public charging where most charging happens at home
The charging network must be adapted to the increase in electric cars. Else, even with home charging, there will be problems on longer trips.
@@beehappy7797 What is a longer trip in Europe? Seems to me that is less of a problem than in the U.S.
Norway has also invested its huge oil revenue in diversified industries to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels for basic income.
Weird that Norway made all it's money pumping oil, eh?
Norway is developing grid connections to the European system to sell hydro- and wind power as well. They have superior capacity in both. So lucky!
THANKS LARS !
HFS Lars, the Dong Project video is a classic 😂
VW is in almost as much trouble as gm. The Golf is yesterday’s car. It’s the horse and buggy just when everyone is lining up to buy a Model T (ok, the Model Y), a 100 years later.
Good point. My neighbor got a Golf - Is that the same design as 1977?
A definite sign of desperation
Tesla Model 2 will be the next VW Beetle. It will garner all of Tesla's focus.
GM under Mary Barra is like a sailboat on voyage without a destination. Wherever the wind blows it is easier to head in that direction. But of course the wind eventually changes heading and so does the boat (General Motors). Unlike a rudderless boat which is unmanageable, this boat is unmanaged and going nowhere. VW Group and Japan Inc. seem to be on the same non-course except for maybe Porsche? Stellantis is a conglomeration of failed brands much like the old British Leyland, may God help them.
How can you even see with your head up Elon's butt?
Good video. I like the Model 3. GM is really in for a bad surprise with hydrogen. Elon amazes me with the many areas Tesla is succeeding in.
There already is an ev Golf = MG4 in Europe very well sold
???
Great info, great video! Thanks Lars, you just keep getting better.
Lars , it truly is ironic that all the media and legacy automakers report the “ New Big Lie” that sales of electric vehicles have slowed and “ people don’t want EVs anymore “ but it’s never reported that the Model Y is the best selling vehicle in the world(don’t worry I won’t say anything, it will continue to be all of our little secret 😄😄) and will continue to be when ever the “ Juniper “ new Model Y is released..
" but it’s never reported that the Model Y is the best selling vehicle in the world": A german car magazine listed: model Y = 1,2mio, Toyota RAV4 = 1,07; Corolla = 1,01mio - seems legit...
Love don’t worry people don’t listen to media hungry dogs anymore.
@@bernios3446 That's hiding the stats.
@@tedmoss Sorry? what do you mean?
It's not "Lars", it's "LAAAAHHHHH'S". ;)
Hahaha you nailed it Lars! Love your work!!!
Lars ! ! , I love your coverage on hydrogen ! LOL. I think it is safe to say no matter how much 'hot air' goes into selling it, it will always 'sink like a lead balloon' ! Keep up the good work ! :-)
Great video!!!! Good News !!!!
Lots of change coming. Going to be hard to tell truth from fantasy.
H is for Hindenburg
Lars, “execution!” Give Mary Barra a break - she’s still learning English.❤
"thinking the thame thing"
By English do you mean telling the truth?😂😂😂😂
Very informative, as always!
GM needs to get back to the Bolt. Ford needs to ramp up the Lightning.
Lots of good observations.
GM will partner with Tesla as a a last resort. Ford has partned with BYD
Gee . . . maybe Dan should apply for a research grant for His Dong Project at Elons T.I.T.S. University in Texas
The Dan O'doud's Ding Dong project. LMAO
Hydrogen fuel stations will also be extremely dangerous compared to battery electricity it explosively combines with oxygen to produce water if any spark is present, such as static electricity.
Thanks for putting the knife in with respect to hydrogen, especially about the dangers of transportation and storage. Cheers. 😎 Great grindy end!
GM &FORD do have a demand problem with THEIR EV’s
12:23 - check out Herbert’s interview with Sandy Munro. Sandy says Munro is working on white hydrogen engine. he says you can get by drilling in the desert, and that the planet keeps manufacturing it.
HAHA! THE DONG PROJECT!!!
Mary is not that simple, her purpose may not be hydrogen, but taxpayers' money.
Great show! Thanks
FANTASTIC VIDEO 💪❤
At least we now know which ICE manufacturers are going under first.
Always a great video

It would be interesting to see car sales shown on a rolling 12-, 24-, 36- & 60-month basis. This would smooth out the bumps and give a better idea of the general direction of travel.

kids in 2035... Dad, what is Toyota?
Well son, lucky for you I took a Poloraid of my old Toyota.
A car that is cheap to own, cheap to run, and runs forever.
Get some facts before comment.
Toyota has record breaking sales numbers and a profit margin as Tesla (around 8 %)
@@stennordenmalm9900LOL you need to google :-) Toyota Bankrupt in china, and many others too. china closed 5000 dealerships in 2024 alone! Jeep andf Ford also out of china. Toyota fired 110.000 jobbs last 6 month. Sale down by 30% in many contries. 90% in some contries.

The video Joe included is by Herrenknect and illustrates the traditional stop and go technique. Prufrock 3 uses very different technology so it doesn't stop. I don't know if The Boring Company has a cool video or not.
You make start of my day on high note ty execution I just can't stop smiling sadly only because oem are good at execution by marketing marketers. Just saying.
Your the best ontesla keep it up 100%
Beyond the energy efficiency is the sheer number of refueling stations needed to compete with gasoline. In the US you need over 20,000 hydrogen stations NOW, not in 10 years, to even come close to the convenience of gasoline.. There are about 180,000 gas stations for comparison. Who's going to put that kind of money into it?
We bought a used 2013 Nissan Leaf ex Japan in 2019, that had been registered to Toyota Mobility in Japan. This Leaf only had 3,772 km on the clock but the battery had degraded to 9 bars when we got it. From the number of charging cycles it was obvious that they kept it charged at 100% and left it standing in the basement.
I think this was one of the reasons why Toyota is so anti-EV. They do not seem to have a clue on how modern battery cells or EVs work, so they wreck the car's battery and then have the audacity to say current EVs are dumb. Until their engineering chiefs and management start seeing EVs as part of the solution, they will keep falling behind.
Dan's Dong - has a certain ring to it...
This outro song is epic!
It looks like Tesla will be building a factory in Melbourne from what I hear.
Well presented young man. The Highlander PS kindness is always free.😊❤
Another problem with Hydrogen - as it has to be frozen to be compressed, the ambient air temp means that over a few hours, the liquid returns to gas and the car has to continually "vent". As you are parked overnight, your car is venting Hydrogen and reducing your range. It is a ridiculous energy storage medium.
Has Tesla already moved out of Delaware? please confirm if you know.
Mary Barra's execution? Whose execution? Short GM!
at 15:09 Mary looks like she's trying to channel Judy Garland in "A Star is born"... '; p
Good vid
It’s been a while since I’ve been watching your videos, but I couldn’t find your channel from the US for sometime now even though I subscribed. Idk what happened but it’s great to see your videos again.
9:16 someone said it was actually a profit per car not per employee
Unbelievably stupid move by GM/Mary Embarassing regarding hydrogen fueled cars. This will not end well and GM looks like a doomed company under her leadership with these kinds of crazy decisions.
Glad to see you pushing starship on your Best in Tesla channel so that more people throughout Europe will know about it. See you at the next launch !
A mini van like the Li Mega would be nice at 50k. Its fast has 609 mile range and fully reclinable seats. I always thought vans and suvs would be the first electric vehicles as they both have plenty of room for batteries
What is it corporate officers are being told that makes them want to invest in hydrogen ???
Just a little comment/criticism, Lars … yes, H2 is an energy storage medium, but so is oil/petroleum, so are batteries, so is pumped hydro, and so for that matter are Uranium and Thorium and even wind, waves and geothermal. The important things are how easy it is to put energy into them and how much you can get out and how easily - and of the ones on that list, we (humans) can only put energy into batteries, pumped hydro and H2.
Tesla is building in Buffalo New York close to Niagara Falls.
Now that BYD got rid of the exploding pouch batteries they were using they may actually have a chance at making a car for the American market within the next 5 years.
Dan O'Dog owes me reparations
I believe they made a mistake in that valuation article. It’s not per employee it’s per car sold.
Hydrogen is great for rockets, just not most other things.
It’s no good for rockets either, Falcon-9 uses kerosene, Starship uses methane.
@@fredbloggs5902 SpaceX is now the biggest and baddest but there ARE still others using hydrolox propulsion. Still forever stupid in cars though.
Hydrgen has very little energy
@@stigbengtsson7026 Molecular hydrogen has way too much energy and is not stable enough (too explosive). If it escapes, the Earth's gravity cannot even retain it. It goes directly to space.
@@mb90821 Some scientists say the lack of data on hydrogen leaks and the potential harm they could cause is an issue for the emerging industry.
If hydrogen seeps into the atmosphere, it can reduce the concentration of molecules that destroy the greenhouse gases there, counteracting its environmental benefits.
With a lack of technology to monitor hydrogen leaks, this could be a major blind spot.
Keep up the good work, Mary! 🤣
Mary is leading. Leading all the way to the bottom, "and it matters".
And Elon is working for fr3.
Das Bild von Mary in 15:20 sagt alles.
Larson I have to correct one "typo" (although it could be interpreted ambiguously) but at 19:26 you said that an all season is not as good as a winter tire and not as good as a summer tire... but they are definitely better than summer tires in snow (I used to drive a 70 Pontiac with summer tires... Ahhh youth) and in summer the difference is negligible with an edge in wet weather... (in truth summer tires are just cheap)... '; D
On the matter of the other car companies are buying their own Giga Press & hope to match Tesla. Well, they can buy the presses but they will not have access to the special alloy that Tesla invented, This alloy is what makes Tesla presses cycle faster with less scrap & this alloy's composition also allows Tesla dies to last longer before refurbishing
In a few years the cost of producing an EV by the volume producers will have dropped significantly. With this lower cost comes lower selling prices. EVs are inherently less complex than a ICE car . The cost to buy and operate a EV will be so compelling that buying a ICE/Hybrid car won’t be a choice.
LIKE This Video.
When-When is GM going to wake up and realize that Mary is Not the right leader for GM, she’s doing nothing right. If they don’t change Leadership soon, it’s going to be “To Late” for GM!!
The problem is not that ev aren't selling, the problem is the charging infrastructure is not ready for CCS vehicle, whereas Tesla has its own network of chargers and done upgrades and keeping up with demands for the most part.
the US-guys ALWAYS find the right solution -
AFTER tried all the false ones before.
e.g. GM 🎉😂😂
It should be obvious that making all your own parts means better profits for you. Why on Earth would you want to pay someone else for parts when you can pay yourself for them?
Plus being responsible for outsider quality 😮
Tell that to Boeing....
OBVIOUSLY karpathy will design AI chips from first principles, and or ev controller chips
VW and GM and Tesla too, i think, are investing in Quantum Scape 's solid state battery. Any insights or clarification you can share with us Lars?
Nextera is building a megapack station in Tracy CA. Next to the Tesla installation. Batteries out of Japan. Why did we lose that contract?
Because Tesla cannot compete on cost as they don't make LFP batteries
"Amount" is for liquids
Greatest production all week Mr Lars it’s gettin good………….. I wanna introduce th Sparky plan ….. HERE YE HERE YE let it be written let it be told I hereby nominate JB STRA I give up😁 for th office of PRESIDENT OF TH UNITED STATES…….. can I getta second
So far in February, Tesla model Y has a 28% share of electric cars sold in Norway. January 18%. With Mars normally being the best month in Q1 for Tesla, it will be interesting to see the numbers.
Another good way to produce hydrogen is via thermolysis. If you have a power plant which has a lot of thermal waste, you could use that energy in various way, like district heating, hydrogen production, or to decarbonize the processes in some hard to abate industry, like cement and ceramic factories, or paper mills.
Normally, the thermal power plants are fueled by fossils, but there's one technology to do that that's carbon neutral, and that's nuclear: especially with the helium-cooled reactor, you could also recycle almost all the radioactive waste
I was interested from the outset to see how this changeover would pan out for different manufacturers, especially once it became clear that it was no flash in the pan and it was happening despite all the mudslinging by vested interests. It is only going to get more exiting in the next few years. The Japanese look like they are dragging their feet and/or backing the wrong horse. Toyota are big enough to pull it out of the bag, we tend to forget how much can happen in five or six years. Also, they are working away at solid state batteries and if they bring those to market first, it will be a mini disruption in itself. VW are big also, and have chosen to develop dedicated EVs along side ICE cars. Expensive, but as you point out, less compromise and so potentially greater sales for discerning buyers. On a side note, it seems a shame to bin the ID3. It is a worthy car and any 'faults' that it is perceived to have, are easily fixed. Surely better to fix a good car than scrap it and start again? Stellantis have chosen to go the multi-fuel platform way and are producing some very nice cars that don't seem too compromised. For a company that can meet market demand fluctuations without having to shut plants down and/or ramp up others, it seems strange that they are one of the biggest culprits for overpricing their EVs. And then there're the Chinese and South Koreans - as if the legacy car makers hadn't got enough problems!!!! Good luck to them all. Some will inevitably fall unfortunately. It will be sad, but that is how things go.
Genius yet the stock is in the Toilet! Good strategy!!!😂😂😂
Thanks for doing the homework and standing up against the absurd hydrogen propaganda, Lars. Electric is so elegant in comparison to hydrogen vehicles; it makes you wonder why these fools are still promoting such complex inefficiency? Peace
the battery market will soon be flooded, so battery prices will dramatically drop. Thus the price of the EV will drop BELOW THE PRICE OF THE ICE CAR TO PRODUCE
