Lovely images Henry, especially the final one. In terms of tips I would say, adapt your approach to the conditions, and use it as an opportunity to maybe experiment and try something different and learn from the experience

I think I might have been experimenting with long exposures on the sky and loch waters to make some ethereal B&W shots - I'm off up to the highlands next week and will be at the mercy of the weather so I may be eating my own words !!!!

There’s no such thing as bad weather only bad clothes. This is the UK with all its unpredictable weather and that’s what makes photography amazing. As long as you and your gear is waterproof, get out there. The pub feels amazing in the evening when your dried out. Cheers, great stuff Henry and Ian.

My partner and I had 3 weeks in Wales and Northern England last autumn and it rained most of the time. My favourite days were some of the wettest...moody times in the Ogwen Valley, and some amazing light just as we reached the top of Malham Cove. Provided I've got the right clothes, I tend to enjoy wet days out the most...makes you feel more alive and part of nature! Less people around too 😄 Love both your images of the little island!

Hi Henry! How's things mate? You mentioned being out and about, and that's my philosophy! There's a song by Paulo Nuttini and in that song there's a line that says "I'm out and about, so I'm in with a shout! And nothing's gonna bring me down!" I always try to remember that whenever I'm able to get 'out and about' especially with my camera! By the way, I don't know if I mentioned it, but I've got a new one! 😁😁I've managed to get hold of a 'nearly new' Nikon z5! Loving it so far! The first full frame camera I've ever owned! 😊😊

Hi Henry, another grand day out thanks for sharing ... ah the old days ... Red Beast, D7200, Tokina lens, DX 18-300 lens ... and the infamous puddle. As for tips, take a 10p showercap if your camera isn't exactly weatherproof. Sure it'll not save your gear if the heavens truly open, but it'll sure help ... and another tip ( not for the purists ) use a UV filter ( but not a cheap one ) on the front of the lens, so that if the weather tries to get in it has to try harder, not to mention if you wipe the filter and accidentally scratch it, filters are much cheaper than lenses.

I think the biggest thing I like to try and do is to take pictures of the little things. During a rain storm, look for drops on a branch. Look for that one cloud that is so unique, look for that one thing that draws your attention. Just cause it is nasty out does not mean there are not things others may find interesting. Enjoy shooting those shots.

Henry, my experience has been mixed. I've forced myself to go out in horrible weather and returned with one or more crackin' good keepers. I've also ventured out in perfect weather with high anticipation and came home with disappointing results. Lesson learned? Just go out, period, whatever the conditions, as long as it's safe. It's refreshing for the body, mind, and soul to be out enjoying nature or even exploring one's hometown.
Something else you mentioned got me thinking - revisiting photos from the past. I was just doing that the other day. I found myself remembering and reminiscing, even experiencing the details and emotions of those moments and the people who were with me.
I'm reminded of a quote from Katie Thurmes: "We take photographs as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone." All of us need to do that once in a while. 📷
