    Love your tutorials. There's so much to learn, I feel a little bit crazy doing it all for the sake of entertainment, but now I can't stop. I started playing the flight sims because I wanted to know why planes did this or that, so having someone with real world experience who knows all the ins and outs, and why, is great. And you explain things in such a clear and succinct way that is easy to follow.

    Another great tutorial to add to my flightdeck2sim collection.
    I can't help but be amazed at how close Zibo's freeware mod has come to the PMDG payware. It's got to the point where I really have to look hard at your videos to identify which one you are using. I think the give away on this occasion was the lack of curved lines in the ND. As you mentioned it is apparently a programming nightmare for Zibo but the guy seems to be able to pull rabbits out of a hat.
    Your input as a RL pilot together with Twkster is so welcome for us simmers.

    • @flightdeck2sim

      Thanks again Richard.
      I really enjoy flying the MOD, the handling is so close to the real thing and the fact it's available free of charge is incredible. Most of the systems work correctly!
      The way the MOD has progressed the last few months is phenomenal, all thanks to ZIBO, Twkster and the other people behind the scenes. I'm in communication with both ZIBO and Tim and when I can I provide direct comparisons to the real aircraft, I wouldn't even know where to start if someone asked me how to program something.
      I will still use the NGX in tutorials but expect far more ZIBO MOD 737 in the future!

    Another really nicely done and informative video!
    Hats off to you for emphasizing the need for monitoring ground based navaids through out departures, arrivals and approaches, even when doing LNAV overlays. As you point out, though technically not required now that GPS is a class one navaid, it is very good practice and keeps the pilot "plugged in". In some parts of the world where WGS-84 is rather spotty, this is still technically required for all routes based on ground navaids.
    Though all your videos are very professionally made, I can see even more "polish" in this latest video.
    Love your work!
    Cheers

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks again Tim.
      Yes we require all NAVAIDS to be tuned and identified for SID's and NPA's even if not being directly used.
      Thankfully only bomb around Europe and GPS coverage is very rarely an issue! Still require RAIM checks before RNAV Approaches to check for outages.
      Yes delivery has to be a little different in a tutorial on YT compared two guys in a Level D! Through trial and error I've found a nice pace which caters for "most" users!! Video editing has improved as well!
      Take care!

    Excellence! So, there could be three navigation systems in use at the same time. The LNAV via FMS, VOR, and ADF. Do the majority of airline SOPs recommend the use of an additional two nav back ups for the FMC for every flight? I’m thinking I should add these backups into my checklist. Take care Captain and Thank You!! 👍

    • @flightdeck2sim

    I do suggest you getting the "RG MOD", to largely enhance the Zibo cockpit textures (It's free, or you can donate if you want the new engines etc.). Just a question; is the "dead band" when the aircraft feels like it doesn't want to fly for about 1-2 seconds?
    Thank you :)

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the info, just sticking with the ZIBO MOD, one less thing to update!
      Yes that is the Dead Band, it occurs at approximately 10 degrees and requires an increase in back pressure to maintain a constant rotation rate. You can definitely "feel it" in XP 11 which seems to simulate airflow very realistically and it feels much more natural.

    Hey FD2S thanks for the absolutely awesome tutorial as usual. I have a request: could you also do a tutorial on radial interception after takeoff? Because at my home airport there are no sids but the aircraft are given instructions to intercept a particular radial from a VOR after takeoff. If you could also show us the inverse i.e inbound radial interception during approach that’ll be great. It also gives a chance to talk about the Navigraph “search” page since that’s where you can see all the radials and airways in a world map view.

      Piotr Kuler Hi, it’s VOCB (Coimbatore Intl Airport) in India. There used to be a few SIDS but they’re temporarily not used because of route restructuring. So they use radials from the airport VOR for takeoff.

    Flightdeck2sim Can you explain the takeoff config check please? The last couple of times flying the PMDG the horn has sounded, even though I've followed the flows document from cold and dark. I hear you say "packs auto" at the line, I'm usually set to off. I do suffer a bug with my installation, in that the right bleed drops pressure and engine start becomes impossible, I need to keep this in auto to maintain pressure. I wonder if this might be the problem?

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi gkkes
      CONFIG Warning horn sounds if flaps, speedbrake, parking brake and stab trim is not in the correct position for take off.
      Packs OFF for engine start and AUTO for take off in normal operations.

      Zibo's a safe bet! The 737 Ultimate is still in the beta stages, but it's pretty promising. It looks like Zibo is porting over a lot of his FMC and flight model work to their project, which is especially appealing. They're adding cool features in the future like the HUD and in-cockpit tablet for charts and checklists.

    Hi there thankyou for all your videos and help, i have a request or even question, i would like to understand what the procedure is when taking off from an airport WITHOUT SIDS, is the plane flown manually to intercept the nearest waypoint? or is Autopilot used to do the same thing, would love to see a video on this but cannot locate one

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Michael, if there is no SID you are typically cleared on an omni directional departure. You essentially maintain runway hdg until you reach a certain altitude and then simply route to the first WPT.

    Your videos are amazing! Thank you!! Why some constraints are magenta on CDU? Where did I get this performance app?Sometimes I think the Zibo trim and Vref settings are odd, as it takes about 85% of the runway to takeoff even above 65T TOW. Ive never experienced this on a real 737 takingoff from the same airports in real life.

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi ARI
      Active constraints are magenta, performance app is unavailable for general use (it's from my work electronic flight bag).
      Might seem obvious but short fields typically use most of the runway to get airborne. Performance calculations ensure in the event of an engine failure you clear the end of the runway by at least 35ft by the end of your take off distance.

    Excellent video! I'm just getting back into flight sim after finishing my PPL and preparing to start my ATPL exams in the next few months, and your videos have proved both intersting and entertaining, keep up the good work!
    Quick question - what is the "dead band" you refer to just after rotation? I've never heard of it before.

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tom, good luck with your training!
      The Dead Band is caused by airflow being disturbed over the horizontal stabiliser as you rotate and ground effect, it occurs at approximately 10 degrees and requires an increase in back pressure to maintain a constant rotation rate.

    I know pmdg is not modelled to stay on magenta line etc when doing procedural approaches i wonder if this zibo mod can also can it do RF-LEGS? cause I know pmdg also cant do because the navigation system is very old

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it’s better, ZIBO’s mod handles holds exceptionally well. From what I understand drawing the curved line is challenging from a programming point of view, although not drawn on the ND the aircraft is turning correctly. It’s improving all the time!

    • @ItsRageYT
      @ItsRageYT 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fslabs does it perfectly, ofcourse they dont do the boeing but still if they can do it, I think PMDG should be able to do it. Pmdg also dont draw the holds properly like the way you enter them for example tear drop entry and parallel or direct, does the real one draw it? I suppose it does.

    Thank you for your amazing tutorials!! I always enjoy them :)
    I really want to know, what do you think "feels" more realistic when it comes to landing, especially flaring; the Pmdg in FSX or the Zibo in XPlane?

    Hi @flightdeck2sim, I have a question for you, how doy the airplane’s systems calculates the given percentage of N1 thrust? I play a Flightsim, but it hasn’t a live cockpit so tell me please the formula:)

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi JU4N,
      The fixed N1 derate is generated from the FMC based off the selected derate, assumed temperature and OAT, I think you can find that table online! I have no idea about the formula I'm afraid.

    hey flight deck can you explain the deadband speed? is it v2 + 20? I dont believe all 737 ngs do that where it bugs the speed up automatically like that.

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there!
      The Deadband has nothing to do with speed, it's caused by airflow being disturbed over the horizontal stabiliser as you rotate and ground effect, it occurs at approximately 10 degrees and requires an increase in back pressure to maintain a constant rotation rate.

    Dead band?

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dead Band is caused by airflow being disturbed over the horizontal stabiliser as you rotate. This means you have to increase back pressure at approximately 10 degrees to rotate continuously
