Great video, I found it really helpful (and 'yes' I agree, your audio levels need some tweaking). Please can you post something or offer any advice on writing in the 'mockumentary' format. In particular what differences there are to the standard formula you have outlined here.
Fantastic video, really helped me with my own ideas, loved the visual analysis with the plot line / colour breakdown! You should do more, I’m sure you’ll have a eager audience :)
Verrrrry helpful. Thank you. Can you do the same thing with "how I met your mother" sitcom? That's also a sitcom with these tips but I think it's a little different from 30rock script and procedures.
Not sure if it’s been suggested but could you break down something more recent like Atlanta? It’s a “comedy” but there’s so much nuance in such a short script but also in the filmed episodes. It’s what I’m personally trying to emulate but not copy. Your style of breakdown is insanely in-depth and wonderful.
@@FilmFixChannel I turned my volume all the way up, cant hear a thing, this makes me a sad panda, sad pandas won't eat until you make sad happy, not that they don't wanna eat.
What would you say distinguishes a funny character from a non-funny one? A character can be real, profound, well-designed, but still not funny. Others are designed to be crazy or wild but end up feeling plastic and don't come off as real.
Hi. I find this video while I searched for "how to write a sitcom". This video is informative. I would like to know if there is any standard book on writing for sitcoms. My fav sitcoms are tbbt, two&half men, that girl, the fresh Prince of Bel air. This is my taste. Please suggest me sitcoms which are similar to aforementioned sitcoms. I'm really looking for a book which is about sitcom. From India🇮🇳
You kinda lost me in rule number one. 30 rock doesnt have the best story, or characters, or theme, its all about Tina Feys relentless machine gun jokes thats good in 30 rock. Tina Fey is weekend update host, its the most joke filled segment in SNL meaning its all about jokes. 30 rock has the most jokes per minute of any sitcoms. All I'm saying is, 30 rock is all about the jokes and its the best example of a sitcom focused on just being funny not the story not the character arcs, etc.
How To Write Comedy with the awesome 30 Rock! Let me know if there are any other films or TV series that you want me to look at! Much love!
what is your email? I liked to request help on a story circles I made for my novel series.
i miss this guys videos. he was putting in so much effort but he didn’t have nearly as many subscribers as he deserved
I love Lucy pease
It was thee building block that all tv sitcoms sprouted from
Excellent video! PLEASE turn up the volume tho.
excellent analysis! cant believe how much effort you go through to write a decent comedy.

awesome video with one of the best shows ever made. This helped a lot.
Amazing work you've done there. Love US sitcoms. I'd love to find teammates to write something!

Any chance youd post your script breakdown (ie colorcoding and joke highlights) for this?
So the first episode on TH-cam. Less convnvinced with episode 2. Shall I persist?

HIMYM didn' t grown on me. Same with Seinfield currently on Netflix France. But I loved the first season of Mom!
And I thought there was something wrong with my volume
Dude! This was a legendary breakdown. Keep these coming!!
Wondering if you would be ok to share those highlighted scripts? (If that's legal that is.)

This was really good! I realised I hadn't liked it and couldn't find it for ages! perhaps you could do one on toast of london?
When I make it, I hope people come back to this and see that I learnt from this masterpiece
I have the highest volume on the speakers, and barely hear you. Work on that :)
Yes, absolutely! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
@@FilmFixChannel I'm seconding that! Absolutely amazing analysis, just need to turn the volume up! (also, woo subscriber #100!)
@@understatedwalrus Thanks for the feedback! Also, THANK YOU for subscribing and for being #100! Amazing milestone!
Same

Thank you for sharing
Very interesting and intelligent analysis. Helped me a lot writting my own script
why is your audio so low, I can't hear anything
This is incredible, thank you!
Can you do a video on how Arrested Development structures its writing? The comedy and jokes in the writing is so layered! Not many sitcoms come close.
Any chance you can turn up the volume, cause I've maxed out and still can't hear half the video
Yo this really helped me write my pilot ty man come back!!!
Great job, I learned a lot
Raise your volume man
This was very informative, thank you!
If you do another, would you consider B99 or New Girl?
I love both New Girl and 99! Both very different approaches to single camera comedy! Good suggestions!
Haha love it! Super interesting, please keem them coming!
Will do!
Something is wrong with the audio. I can barely hear it and my volume is all the way up.
really nice video! thank you!
Can you go over how they create these characters?
I think it'd be well worthwhile to re-upload with correct audio levels.
Great video. Thanks for the breakdown!
Loved it
Now post a video on how to be a GOOD sound engineer.
That's ironically funny! LOL!!!
why is it so fucking quiet??
I can't hear you!
Could you do something about the audio? It's terribly low and I can't get enough sound out of my computer to make your voice out properly.
Great job!
Can you please do one on The Cornetto Trilogy?
Good shout! I'll rewatch!
Can you cover Roseanne?
Great video
Is the way you write a sitcom the same as writing a comedy sketch or do they differ? Thoughts anyone?

Couldn't hear this at all. Gave up less than a minute in.
Short attention span
