Nice one! Adding some neoprene tubing to the top hook of your rig will keep it in place much better. You could also, make a very simple running ledger live bait rig with just a large hook and a plain lead. Tie about 2ft of line directly to the lead and a swivel at the other end. Then, do the same with the hook, so you have 2 separate parts. Simply slide the swivel of the lead section onto your main line and then tie the swivel from the hook section directly to the main line. A live bait can then be attached and you will have a direct contact with the fish, which should also help with the bite detection.
Love the videos! So you’re Londoner fishing in Kent and Sussex, I’m not the only one then! You are doing exactly what I plan to do, I’m still learning about sea fishing, but definitely have growing obsession. Perhaps we can do a session or two together one of these days, it’s better with company and safer apparently. Take care
Hey mate, apologies for late reply! Yeah Kent and Sussex but I’m literally going to go around the entire UK coast with my channel so people have marks all over that they can find wherever they are. Appreciate it bro and yeah we will get a session in, sounds good!
I think the best advice I could give to you is try to get to the beach earlier and fish the tide as it's coming in rather than going out. In my experience I usually find the that the bites tend to drop off as the tide starts to go back out. Not always but often i find this.
Please do yourself a favour, get a bacon sized plastic box, with a lid. This will keep most of your tools in when fishing. You'll certainly keep elastics and baiting needles for longer than one session.I got mine from a pound shop.
You should real it in if its knocking for more than a few seconds it could be a big fish on the small hook I caught a big bass Friday on my tiny 1/0 hooks on a 1 up 1 down rig I use for flatfish and I brought a flounder and whiting plus the big bass my pennel pulley caught 1 whiting with big hooks so I'd say use a small rig set up with 1 black lug and the 2 hook flappers are over rated use a wessex 1 up 1 down the 1 down gets the bass as there on the bottom scouring the sand and the 1 up is floating of the bottom for fish that are of the bottom he's right about leaving the whiting on aa live bait but it only works if there's a bass about I done it Friday and caught the bass on worm so it's hit and miss
Yeah to be honest I always used two hook flappers cause they were easy to understand for beginners but gonna start looking into using these other rigs now.. and yeah your right, I could potentially have the big fish in from the first knock.. cheers mate appreciate it
@@thefishingbarrel6419 yeah they say 2 hook flapper I've found them rubbish you want a 1 up 1 down rig mate I use 1 sometimes doesn't catch a thing and on my over rod 1 up 1 down wessex pulls 8 in so it's a no brainer most 2 hook flappers are rubbish compared to other rigs like the wessex but mess around half an hour a rig see what works and you don't need big baits unless you are only targeting big fish go small 1 full lug is enough for all our coastal fish 1/0 to 2/0 are big enough
@@thefishingbarrel6419 it's a good rig mate it has the weight on a slide so the bottom hook can be picked up by the fish without it feeling the lead weight it gives it a bit of movement with the hook in its mouth before it stops due to the weight increasing hook ups and bite detection it's no different than using a 2 hook flapper it just works better
👍👍
Thank you mate! 🎣

Tbh I’ve got a little box already, dunno why I never put it back in when I’m done with it, just a bad habit
