      I used to feel the same but in Europe they call our soup broth...

      What's broth? Broth is just soup with things inside. Cos we put meat and vegetables in our soup.
      Europeans soup is watery the same.

    THIS IS THE ACTUAL DEFINITIONS BETWEEN THE TWO. PAY ATTENTION TO LAST SENTENCE Soup is a primarily liquid food, generally served warm or hot (but may be cool or cold), that is made by combining ingredients of meat or vegetables with stock, milk, or water. Hot soups are additionally characterized by boiling solid ingredients in liquids in a pot until the flavors are extracted, forming a broth. Soups are similar to stews, and in some cases there may not be a clear distinction between the two; however, soups generally have more liquid (broth) than stews.[1]

    well there are light and thick but not to the extent that you can pick it up like you're picking something on the floor. Soups not supposed to pick up like the way some of nigerians pick it up with fufu on social media, Soups can only pick up with spoon , if you pick up soup with your hands or fingers is no more Soup anymore but rather gravy or stew

    A stew is a combination of larger-cut ingredients like vegetables, meat, or fish that are just barely covered with cooking liquid, and simmered over low heat for a lengthier period of time. While a stew cooks, the liquid reduces significantly, making it much thicker than your average soup.

    Stew is cooked slowly, meaning low heat.

  • @paakwegyir3165
    @paakwegyir3165 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    When cooking stew you always have the heat low... Or it would burn... Soup however needs high heat almost constantly cos of the liquid nature... Practically almost all the ingredients used for stew is the same as soup. The only difference is oil base for stew and for soup it a lot of water base...

      Soup can be thin(light), thick,creamy etc. this is something that needs more research on to understand better. They can’t just stew is thick and soup is light cos soups can also be thick aswell with the help of thickening agent

    • @nadia7861
      @nadia7861 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also noticed ure using only egusi as an example. Now lemme explain why egusi is a soup, the foundation and base of egusi is just water without any thickener with just the melon seed added to it and veg. A soup doesn’t have to be only water and coloring to be called a soup.
      In Nigeria we also hv watery soup like pepper soup and white soup( nsala) then oha, onugbu, etc with thickener. They all soups just some have thickener and some doesn’t. Ghanaians don’t define soup for us😒
