Home Free is made up of four extremely talented singers and the best beatboxer in the world! All four singing member sing lead or back up depending on the song, there are no egos in this group. Even the beatboxer Adam Rupp sings in a few of their songs. These guys can harmonize like no one else IMO, they have well over a million fans would be my guess. I have seen many reactions from people who are moved to tears from some of Home Free’s music. They can sing most any genre and are the most down to earth people.They also make people laugh with some of their antics. You can’t go wrong with any of their covers or their own songs.
Home Free choses the best person for the song. They are one phenomenal group that can perform all genres.
Most of their stuff is uplifting.
So when they do something sad or serious it hits hard!
For HomeFree harmonies, try their cover of CSN’s melancholy “Helplessly Hoping” or the hymn “How Great Thou Art”.
These guys are more casual and laid back than Pentatonix, and have a different mix of voices. It depends on what you prefer.
The take turns with the lead. ( Except for the beatboxer although he can sing) This is Austin leading this one. Their harmonies are just unbelievable. Adam, the beatboxer, can't be beat. (Though they can all make instrument sounds and beatbox to some degree)Tim, the bass, with his 5+ octave range. This is one of my wake up songs. It's a feel good song. They do not have one lead singer. They switch depending on the song between Austin , (high tenor) who sings lead on this one), Rob (Tenor), full beard and glasses, Adam Chance (Baritone/Bass), aka Chance, often sings bass has dark hair and short beard , and Tim (Bass), has a five octave range, he has short greying hair. Finally there is Adam Rupp (beatboxer), he is responsible for all the percussion sounds heard. All the sounds heard are vocally produced.

There is no lead singer in Home Free
They take turns singing the song ( except Adam the beatboxer) and then choose who’s voice or voices suit the song and then there is an exception when it a a song for a Baritone or Bass then they go to Tim Or Chance.

Home Free, Pentatonix, Voice Play... top 3 in the a capella world. Who's best is merely a personal preference. I prefer HF; other's preferences may be different.

a killer cover of the Doobie Brothers 1972 CLASSIC....we fans don't compare, as they both have unique gifts they bring to the table. Home Free shares the leads...they decide between themselves who gets a lead on a song. They are simply amazing.

I grew up on classic rock & am a big fan of the Doobie Brothers & had their albums. "Listen To The Music" was a big hit for them back in 1972. Love that Home Free is keeping this great music alive & introducing it to the younger generation. The guys did a really nice job of this song. Austin was great for the lead & loved the background harmonies of Rob, Chance & Tim's bass. Adam killed it on the vocal percussion again. He always comes up with some new & interesting sounds.

I'm a Home Fried Pentaholic. Why choose? I love them both. I think I'd rather party with the Home Free gents, but both groups produce stellar music. Austin Brown, the lead is this number will, unfortunately, soon be leaving the group. All 5 of these guys are outstanding musicians with great voices. They let the music decide who leads on any particular song. No egos here. The music always comes first.
The Doobie Brother was my first summer concert I went to, so when HF took this up it was a yummy treat. HF is now doing this single as the first encore song in their current tour and they throw in a 5 part beatbox off near the end and it is absolutely awesome. 😂😂😂😊😊😊

Wouldn't you know it, my left headphone (ear!!) went out when I was 1 yr old! 🤪😂 I make jokes, but honestly I'd LOVE to be able to hear HF just once the way the rest of you do! Home Free is by far the best group I've ever listened to! I'm totally mesmerized by everything they sing!
Caution: Home Free is highly addictive. 3 of them are song writers so there are lots of originals as well as covers. They sing (and write) in almost every genre. The beatboxer (Adam Rupp) is incomparable. BTW, they all can beatbox - watch "9-5 + beatboxing breakdown". There are also loads of live videos (see "Sea Shanty Medley Live").
Don’t compare, just enjoy! There is no lead singer in this group. They all take the lead depending on the song. This is a Doobie Brothers song from the 70’s although it was done with instruments. Home Free’s beatboxer is super talented. All the guys are super talented and 3 are also songwriters so they also sing their own songs. You might really like Skull and Bones that Chance (with ball cap) wrote for the game maker Ubisoft. It’s a great pirate song with great bass!!!
I prefer Home Free only because they are the only A Capella group that makes me forget that they are, in fact, A Capella. They are not theatrical at all. Their harmonies are spot on , and every single one of these guys are genuine. I had the pleasure of meeting them and I left the conversation feeling like I have been friends with them for years they are all very down to earth and funny!

This is my exercise to music. They all sing. Rob the man with the beautiful beard sings lead in Boys to Men's song "End of the Road" but Austin, The one singing here does some great singing in that video too. They can all sing, even the beatboxer Adam Rupp has a Honey sweet tenor voice. To hear him so a short solo watch and listen to "How Great Thou Art" The song is all singing no beatboxing and is beautiful.

I'll try and make your choice even more difficult - by suggesting that you check out Voiceplay! (You already did one from their bass, Geoff Castellucci, a couple of years ago! They cover every genre from Disney to Rock/Metal, from classics like 'In The Air Tonight' to game-themed covers!
Can't /won't compare Homefree with Pentatonix as they are both equally good. They actually support each other. Why choose?
Home free is my favorite by far. Pentatonix is really good. But home free is the best. They are the only country a Capella group out there, but they can sing anything. Each one can sing and each one brings their own talent to the group.
You don't really compare the two, they do different styles of music, and they are all friends. Home Free does a cover of Ring of Fire featuring Avi Kaplan from PTX. I prefer Home Free's music, their instrumentation and beat-boxing can't be beat! I saw them live a week ago and they are better in person.
