It's amazing that the Doobie Brothers used 2 drum sets, guitars and other instruments to create this iconic song and 50 yrs later HF took it to the next level using only Adam and their own vocal talents. I love all the new sounds Adam added especially that slide guitar note at the beginning and during the breakdown. He looked like he really had fun with this video.
They all have amazing voices. The one who sang this is Austin Brown sky high tenor. The guy with the beard and glasses is Rob Lundquist lead tenor. The guy with the gray streak in his hair is Tim Foust bass. The guy with the short beard is Adam Chance (Chance) is the baritone. Which all have leads on and off. And the last one is Adam Rupp the beatboxer. This is a Doobie Brothers song, but they did a fantastic job with this version. Enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
This is a Doobie Brothers classic from the 70’s. Home Free did it justice. Adam (beatboxer) was crazy good. Austin (lead) was great and loved the low notes by Tim. It’s a good one and just gets you moving. Good reaction Mr. B!🤩😃
It’s Rob’s great voice leading the choruses and Austin on the verses. A lot of people think it’s Austin doing the whole song. Rob and Austin’s voices flow back and forth seamlessly.
Love seeing the smile on your face while listening to this, it does the same thing to me. This is my favorite Homefree cover. It is a Doobie Brothers original released in 1972
This is simply excellent again!! I have been a fan of the Doobie Brothers for a long time. This song is just timeless. It still swings. Really something for Home Free. So great sung, so great harmonies, bone-feeling bass, But for me it's Adam who makes it truly phenomenal. He nailed it. The vocal percussion is just inhumane. So unbelievably good. For me the very best beatboxer/vocal percussionist/mouth artist there is.
Agreed on all points! ... except that Adam's vocal percussion isn't inhumane...that would mean he was out to kill or get rid of humans by whatever means possible. I have a feeling that was only a typo. I DO agree that Adam's vocal percussion seems like it could not have come from a human being (inhuman)! 😀
@@GrandmasGotGraceLW Oops yes that's what I meant. But I'm Dutch and sometimes I have to do it with the translation app. And I think that we in the Netherlands use expressions anyway, which are either translated incorrectly or mean a lot differently in the other languages. But thanks for your correction.
I grew up on classic rock & am a big fan of the Doobie Brothers & had their albums. "Listen To The Music" was a big hit for them back in 1972. Love that Home Free is keeping this great music alive & introducing it to the younger generation. The guys did a really nice job of this song. Austin was great for the lead & loved the background harmonies of Rob, Chance & Tim's bass. Adam killed it on the vocal percussion again. He always comes up with some new & interesting sounds.
Someone else wrote that Home Free doesn't do covers - they do up-grades. That they can do a rendition of an iconic Doobie Bros. song - using only vocals - says it all about their talent. Adam Rupp outdoes himself again on the beatboxing, Austin's singing & the harmonies are all perfect. Thanks for playing my favourite acapella band! Love from a Canadian subscriber.
Three of them: Austin Brown (lead on this); Tim Foust (bass) and Adam Chance are song writers, so there are lots of originals as well as covers. Each of the men in HF have their own channels (I think you'd love Austin's originals "Real Talk" and "Off the Grid".).
This song just naturally puts a smile on the ole face! And Adam's beat boxing -- wow! BTW Home Free does not have a lead singer per se. They all can sing lead, but the song determines who sings lead ie the voice who fits the song best. And Adam is a league of his own!
The Doobie Brothers really knew how to build a feel-good high energy song. Home Free kept the feel of the original - great drums, tight hard punching vocal chords and so many of the instrumental sounds. Just amazing.
Good day sir, enjoying your channel-very positive reactions. This song, Listen to the Music, was originated by the Doobie Brothers and i still jam to it today but so happy to find the Home Free version along with the rest of their music-phenomenal “collective!” The Doobies were my first concert in the early 70’s and Nazareth was with them in west Texas. Have a Blessed day!
This was a Doobie Bros cover. This and their cover of Love Train by the O'Jays are guaranteed to put a smile on your face amidst the crappiest of days.
Tim knows this song well, the Nederland High School "Ned and Company " show choir (Which Tim was a part of ) they always closed their shows with this song. Arranged a little differently since it was a larger choir and not a Capela.
I love Home Free. I’m assuming from what you talked about that you haven’t heard any Chance leads. May I suggest: “I Can’t Outrun You “- pure 5 part harmony, hauntingly beautiful, and Chance directed the video. “Cover Me Up “- and let it play out as there is a surprise. “Some Girls Do”, “Helplessly Hoping “. And for a hilarious Tim lead(also written by Tim) “Champagne Taste (on a beer budget).
For something completely different from Home Free. It’s not completely A Cappella A lyric video Chance wrote and took lead on called Skull And Bones. Ubisoft approached them with a great opportunity to write a shanty for Skull And Bones video game they are releasing soon. They also sang a shorter version at Ubisoft Live Premiere. It’s beyond epic
All four singers in Home Free can take the lead. Austin sings When a Man Loves a Woman as lead, Chance sings I Can't Outrun You, Tim sings lead in Brothers in Arms, Rob sings lead in End of the Road. These are just examples of songs that each has sung lead in. They're very versatile and it shows in the quality of their music. Adam gets a chance to shine in the shows where he has a solo performance while the others take a short break.
If you like to hear each one taking the lead watch, chance take lead on Can't outrun you, Tim leads on hillbilly bone and Adam the beatboxer sings a little in how great thou art
You should really check out their cover of "When A Man Loves A Woman" original by Percy Sledge and "Ain''t Goin Down Until The Sun Comes Up" original by Garth Brooks
No. There is no lead. They choose whoever sounds best in the song. Sometimes there are 2 leads, switching mid-song as they did in Unchained Melody, from Tim to Austin. Listen to the Music was by the Doobie Brother and came out in 1972. It was a big hit and it still sounds fantastic today.
Oh yes! That one is amazing. They did a video for the song, just the 5 of them, first, and it sounded really good. Lee Greenwood contacted them later for the better version.
Why pretentious? That's an odd description of a group that focuses on singing, harmonies and articulation of words where you can actually understand what they are singing. So many non-acapella singers today can't sing without the help of autotune.
Not to mention the tight if not tighter harmonies breaking down each song to figure out what instrument was played and try to recreate that with YOUR MOUTH, and they also do originals... I'd take this over most of the stuff out there today everyday no twice a day each week

Let the music play! Home Free is just the best--and Adam Rupp's vocal percussion is beyond belief❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️

Just like you, one can't listen without a smile on their face.

You never stop smiling when you’re listening to HF. & you just proved it 😊😉👍

Adam Rupp is a 2 time World Champion Beatboxer!! He's the best in the Biz!!

Fabulous cover of the iconic Doobie Brothers song. Loved the original 50 years ago. Love this one now. Adam absolutely kills the percussion, as usual.
It is a cover of a Doobie Brothers song.

It has been awhile since I saw you simply smile through the whole reaction! Yeah, this is a fun one, the guys did a great job.
They nailed this Doobie Brothers classic 👍❤️👏🎶
#HOMEFREE...this is great!
It's a cover. Love these boys. They are so talented.❤️❤️❤️
Love this song!! ❤❤❤
Very nice reaction. Greatly appreciated. Thank you. 😀

I could see in your face throughout the song that you were truly enjoying this. Great reaction.
"Man of Constant Sorrow" got me hooked on them.
"When a Man Loves a Woman" I think is Austin's best.
For fun are "Quarantine" and "Champagne Taste".
Awesome ❤️🔥 love this song ❤️🔥

Its a cover and its a capella all of it. You should do their unchained melody.😍
Love their energy ❤ ty for reacting😊
This is so very awesome. The Doobie Brothers would be so very proud! Love your reaction!
These guys are so great! They do every sound. Their voices are just amazing. More Home Free Please
Love This One ❤
They are Amazing ❤
Your smile said it all! It's such a fantastic song, and the boys did it justice. That said, I hope you look up the Doobie Brothers' original.
Listen to Adam bringing those high notes up in the atmosphere too.
It's a 50 year old classic from the Doobie Brothers...never heard it before??? Seriously???

Hardest working bunch of guys anywhere!! ROB, Austin, Chance, Tim and Adam!!
This was a Doobie Bros. hit from 50 years ago.
Already gave this video thumbs up so here's some hearts.❤❤
Excellent
I think they'd do an awesome cover of Black Water as well, Great reaction as well
You really should hear them sing Opera, Nessum Dorma
🎶💜🎶

It's a cover original is by the Doobie Brothers.
This was awesome. I highly recommend you do a reaction to the original by the Doobie Brothers. Great song.
Check out Try Everything, also With Lee Greenwood and the Air Force Band, God Bless America. Too many awesome songs to list
You should really check out their cover of "When A Man Loves A Woman" original by Percy Sledge and "Ain''t Goin Down Until The Sun Comes Up" original by Garth Brooks
Check out the Sea Shanty melody
Love these guys. The original is good but Home Frees cover is better
It’s a cover❤
So surprised that you are unfamiliar with this big hit from The Doobie Brothers
They did pretty well, but the original version of this song by the Doobie Brothers is in a different league, in my opinion.
This was mid-70's Doobie Brothers.
You're having "too much fun" listening to them. 🤔 On second thought, "Go Crazy!"
This is a cover the original is by the doobie brothers
I am surprised that you do not know this song from The Dobbie Brothers.
❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥

NEXT try Home Free - God Bless the U.S.A. (featuring Lee Greenwood and The United States Air Force Band)

Definitely a cover but the original,by the Doobie Brothers,is much better.
Even the vocals were better by the Doobie Brothers. The minor chords took away from the original's natural happiness.
I’m a big Doobie Bros fan, but I think you just put into words why I like this version so much. Weird. 😂✌🏽
I find acapella groups to be a slight step above mimes. Not denying the talent, I just find it pretentious.
