I'm a microbiologist and I thought the doctor did a super good job conveying information at a level that is digestible to the average person! Good job!
Totally agree. Great podcast, but would be even better if the hosts are not interrupting each other with follow up questions to the doctor. Some of the doctor replies were left hanging .. haha. Still an informative podcast, light hearted and appealing to the younger demographic .
invite property agent please! property lim brothers maybe? talk about income, where property price is heading, etc. and separately, maybe also invite hawkers too. it's quite interesting to hear different walks of life
What happens if I do follow antibiotics instructions but one dose happily forget until next morning? Do I just continue as normal till dose end? Or do I skip the last one?
Assuming it’s to be taken once a day, you should continue to take till you finish the entire course (all pills). Don’t double dose (eg if you are supposed to take one pill yesterday but have forgotten, take one pill the next day - don’t make it up by taking two instead). Hope this helps!
Medical doctors (MDs) are so over-rated in society. Why not do a podcast episode on the ORIGINAL (OG) acclaimed doctor, i.e., a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) instead? Or something like, MD vs PhD?
Sorry I don't find doctors great, how many people can save in their life compared to the farmers? To me doctors are just drug pushers, without the technical equipment, without the drugs, what can a doctor do? TCM can use acuputure and natural foods to cure albeit take a longer time, but what can a western doctor do without drugs and equipment? General practitioner doctors will be the number one person to be replaced by AI, ok when I say doctors, I don't mean surgeons or medical researchers. Anyway most people go see general practiioners today are for the MC. If you really want to cure yourself, just consult google will help. Sometimes I feel that doctors are worst than nurses, because the doctor don't even know how to give a propoer injection or to treat wounds or even CPR.
Hi Frank, Sorry for your previous experiences with healthcare. I think you are quite misinformed about medicine. Firstly, it isn't about a comparison between doctors and other meaningful jobs like farming, farmers are great too and do important work. A large part of the medicine is the use of the scientific research to inform practices to improve our health and living. If you wish to use TCM (which doesn't always have the best scientific evidence), go ahead. There is nothing wrong with that. And how can I trust your word that acupuncture and natural foods are superior in curative effect across all conditions? Has there been a large-scale study e.g. RCT that would suggest that? No. The truth is, many would rather trust proper backed research studies on medicines and technology than anecdotal or personal evidence. Anyways, it isn't about Western medicine vs TCM -- if you prefer one over the other and it improves your state of living, go for the one you prefer instead of denouncing the other. Secondly, GPs are patients' first point of access to healthcare in every country's healthcare system. They are just as valuable as if not more than other specialty doctors because of the number of patients they see and the clinical acumen they require to treat all kinds of diseases. Yes - they encounter all kinds of patients and diseases, and have to make decisions on managing the condition themselves or involving other specialties. The cardiologist or urologist isn't going to magically show up in front of the patient without a GP assessing them first. More importantly, while google might help with some conditions that are incredibly common like a flu or a skin condition like eczema as there are clear pictures, AI is not sufficiently advanced to gather all the information such as systemic symptoms, time course, previous background to narrow it down to a single diagnosis. Can Google order the necessary blood tests, imaging and other bedside tests like urine tests before reaching a diagnosis? I don't think Google can even decide which tests to order.... and yes, in case you were wondering -- you cannot order all of them because of cost and practicality. Lastly, on your point on doctors being worse than nurses because they cannot do simple procedures. That is completely untrue and honestly, it is quite insulting and slanderous. All medical students have to learn and get signed off on more procedural skills than nurses - and that includes injections, wound care and CPR. These are all very basic skills. However, nurses might be more proficient in skills like blood taking over time than doctors, let me explain why. To remind you, a doctor's main role is diagnosing patients and guiding the management, a nurse's role is to assist with the management of patients by carrying out tasks like blood taking, administering medicines that the doctor prescribed. Unfortunately, while a doctor is well-trained in taking bloods, they do not always have the time during the day to practise taking bloods every hour. If there is a sick patient to be seen and another patient needs routine bloods to be taken, the doctor has to prioritise assessing the sick patient and leave more procedural simple tasks to nurses. That is how it works in healthcare. Nurses and doctors work hand in hand to provide care to patients, and both play important and very different roles. And yes, "most" nurses cannot prescribe medicines and treatments without a doctor's input. I suggest you educate yourself more on what goes behind in doctoring and healthcare in general instead of putting down the profession. While there are doctors who might be drug pushers and do unethical things, MOST doctors stay true to their ethos of providing quality care to patients in need.
@@KUSHYkwish my dear. You are too patient. But I'm not sure if it would be understood by the owner's capacity, for not seeing in importance of doctor in the first place.... 😅 too chim lah.
