  • This one was fun! I consider this a practice video, as I'm still getting reacclimated to recording and filming. I reserve the right to re-record this one day!
I've always loved the basic groove of "Hello Goodbye." I know lots of people dismiss it as a simple pop song, but there's something magical about the driving piano, Ringo's bouncy fills, George's cutting riffs, and that silly coda. No verse is the same - Paul's piano and bass are slightly different each time around. It's a wonderful song.
I remember covering this years ago. I think this one is a little better.
    Instruments:
    Epiphone Casino
    Rickenbacker 4003 Bass
Yamaha P121 keyboard (no bass, slight treble boost)
Ludwig Classic Maple 20/12/14 Black Oyster Pearl
Beatles logos in the background from Barrhaven Drum Guy (Ebay)
PreSonus Studio 1824C Interface (drums: 5 microphones used)
Cad Audio Stage7 7-Piece Drum Microphones (micing toms, snare & bass drum)
PreSonus Studio One (drums: recording and mixing)
Shure SM57 (under hi-hat, all other instruments)
All instruments (except drums) recorded on Audacity via a USB soundcard on an HP Pavilion
    Guitar Amp: Vox Mini3 G2
**Awesome lead guitar sound via Aclam DR. ROBERT Vox UL730 Pedal**
    Video Equipment:
    Camera: Canon M50
Edited with Adobe Premiere Pro on HP Envy 32'' All in One
Yes, I also rented a viola and tried learning those parts too. Would've needed 3-4 hours/day of practice over several weeks to get it listenable. Wasn't gonna happen.

LOL - I just spotted (at 0:24) that copy of the appallingly inaccurate "Complete Beatles Scores". I'm picturing it landing there after being hurled across the room! Like that gorgeous piano hook at about 0:20 that's not in the book (they just have G7 C G7 with none of the quirky genius chord rocking stuff that's almost as strong a hook as the vocal melody itself), or the wrong inversions they have leading up to it. Right from the first bar, yours is totally different, correct, and sounds much more musical. I originally started with this channel in order to make my own corrected version of that book but while I wait for new ones to drop I just drive around listening to the audio from these videos for pleasure. It's just astounding how beautiful the arrangements sound without vocals and how beautifully they're played and recorded. Every little guitar or keyboard comp has all sorts of buried hooks of its own that are exposed without the vocals to distract. But just to be fair, there's one thing about the Hal Leonard Complete Scores book that's pretty solid - the mostly correct notation of the syncopations in the vocals. So I guess I'll keep my copy around until you, Frudua and Popkin finish doing the full canon.

Incredible attention to detail, only complaint...that dead snare sound. You should have taken the towel off for the real natural sound, that's the one thing that bothers me about Ringo's snare sound on most their later recordings, zero crack on the snare...it sounds like a miked up pillow being wacked, lol. Other than that, bravo...and have you heard of The Analogues, if not you're missing out on something truly amazing and magical !

This amp in a box pedal was designed to be the closest replica of the amp’s soul and character. A meticulous process of tracing the original tag board circuits and measuring each component’s value has resulted in a sonic approach never reached before."
