- Well this is a gorgeous song, isn't it?
The musical architecture of "Something" is complex and breathtaking. It was a pleasure and quite unbelievable to uncover, learn and perform all of these parts. There's so much going on - pizzicato violas, a layered string background, an intermittent rhythm guitar (which I've concluded had a capo on the 3rd fret), Ringo's incredible tom fills, Paul's bass countermelodies, that frantic, incredible middle 8 (one of the truly great Beatle moments) - and of course, the solo. I hope I did it justice.
This might be the most beautiful Beatles song ever. Loved recording this.

- Drums recorded via PreSonus Studio 1824C Interface (drums: 5 microphones used)
- Drums mic'd with Cad Audio Stage7 7-Piece Drum Microphones (micing toms, snare & bass drum)
- Drums recorded and mixed with PreSonus Studio One
- Shure SM57 (under hi-hat, all other instruments)
- All instruments except drums recorded on Audacity via a USB soundcard on an HP Pavilion
- Guitar Amp: Vox Mini3 G2
- Lead guitar sound via Aclam DR. ROBERT Vox UL730 Pedal and a few plug-ins on Studio One.
Video Equipment:
- Camera: Canon M50
- Edited with Adobe Premiere Pro on HP Envy 32'' All in One
If I dedicate this to anyone, it's for George Harrison. His fingerprints are all over the lead and rhythm guitar parts. Phenomenal.
There are several very competent Beatles re-creators out there, and you're one of them. However your playing has a certain depth and texture that none of the others quite do. Awesome stuff.

What I love about Ringo’s drum lines is how simple / held back they can be. There’s no need for constant hihats right from the moment drums come in. He has no desire to show off, only to ride the rhythm and best suit the song idea - and then when he does then do the occasional more complicated part, it sounds even better because he uses those moments so sparingly.

@@YidSlayer perhaps to those who don’t fully understand the art of Ringo’s playing. But many of the worlds greatest drummers also credit Ringo as a main influence - for the record… I’d argue that makes him a great influence to future drummers.
Love how Ringo uses the high hat on the last verse just to change things up. Part of the genius of his drums part. Simple on the surface yet so complex and deep.

I have listened to, well yes, hundreds of “Something” covers. You truly get the sound right. Tone? Texture? What do you call doing a cover that is so true to the original that it sounds better. Great bass attack and sustain, pitch perfect guitar solo ( and you got that little fuzz tone going on) and to my surprise you got the drums to sound like a recording from more than 50 years ago. Well done, very well done.
I just listened to this again and i confess, I am even more impressed than when I first heard it over a year ago.
Infact, I have listened to many more covers of my favorite Beatles songs, and nobody gets the drums like you have.

I think the reason why this stands out more than the others is because not only can you hear it, you can feel it. He puts an incredible level of emotion into it. It got me emotional when I first viewed it because I went straight away to think of my lady. The significance of this version makes you truly love the song even more.

I agree! I had no idea about the capo until I started studying the isolated tracks in late 2020. I had trouble getting the right sound without the capo, and then I remembered his Anthology demo was played in A. Slapped a capo on 3 and viola, sounded perfect!

Yes! And finally the latest officially published transcription also shows the rhythm guitar part using a capo on the 3rd fret and playing is if the song were in A, like the demo! So it’s awesome to see that you did that here as well!! Finally somebody gets it lol it’s the only way to make it sound right!

This cover is one of the most unbelievably accurate sounding covers of this song ever! Just one little thing for me personally the lead/solo guitar (les Paul) tone isn’t complete with out adt (artificial double tracking) lol a slap back delay may work too but idk
Oh, you did it justice. And so much for the rumors that John nor Paul would help George with his songs. I suspect they did push him aside a lot to record their songs, but listen to what Paul came up with as a bass part for this glorious song. Sounds like John may not have done a lot, but then who knows? He may have helped in ways we will never know.
