Great footage, and sound to ! I used to hear the sound of these wonderful machines echoing across the countryside on clear summer nights in the 70's and 80's as I laid in bed.
16:40 and all the other moments you let the engine roaring away in the distance reminds me of getting the old Thumper DMUs from Dorking to Gomshall when I was a kid in 70s and they go off up the hill towards Guildford as we crossed the track to meet my grandfather (it was a staggered platform and no footbridge, then). And you'd hear the wonderful sound go off into the distance. Mum and dad would sometimes let me linger ❤
I always switch the camera on early and leave it till I can't hear the engine working hard....it's all about the sound . Glad I stirred up some memories for you . Thanks for commenting
Brilliant video, really lets the machines speak for themselves
Thanks ! That's what it's all about . The sound of my youth .
Brings back memories of Trainspotting in the 80's. Class 40's and Deltics were my favs.

Thanks for the video. Is it so that these locos typically exhaust that much fuel directly into air?
@@johannessilver8653 with these old diesels , yes it can be .
Will we see 40135 in service again??
Yea mate, crankshaft repairs on going
@@hughesy45108 i saw a pic of it recently. Was sheeted up outside.
Greta's favourite loco, she loves them.
Yawn. My kids need a future, maybe yours don’t?
I understand 40s are to be stabled at HM
Are the engines running on the rear locos? I don't see any exhaust.
No they are not
