- Former RBI chief Raghuram Rajan said today that it was "worrying" that there was not enough focus in the country on joblessness, he said in an interview to NDTV on his new book "The Third Pillar". Raghuram Rajan also suggested that the government should introspect on some of its decisions like the controversial notes ban.

It's well known that NDTV always oppose the present government & they try to report against them as much as possible, and in the process, they end up covering many valid issues.

Can I just say that Nidhi did a fantastic job in this interview? The way she followed up on every question where he was giving a "soft" answer. I liked how she linked the book and her very political questions. You could see he was clearly uncomfortable by her questions. This is the kind of journalism we need. Journalism which questions and holds our professionals and politicians more accountable.

So you at least agree that he did say if India can manage to get back black money.......his 2014 poll promise was to also bring black black money within 100 days. So by that logic, if he would have brought back the black money, as he promised (when he couldn't in even almost 5 years), people would have been able to get Rs. 15 lakhs! But he didn't. So isn't that a breach of an electoral promise? Use your common sense.

@@संदिपमांडे-य1य That does slow down the economy but it decreases the inflation as it leads to decrease in purchasing power. India had one of the highest CPI around 5. Not it is still around 4. Comparing to that of developed countries it is still high

Increase in gross domestic product is not an indicator of thriving economy. It just says that the overall output of finished goods is increasing

Have u read the book? Did you even hear the interview carefully or your biased mind is filled with Modi hatred. On most counts he took a practice view away from favouring any political ideology. On some counts his views echoed Govt. BTW during his tenure he let the bank NPA problem reach monumental proportions.

My food bill is low, Taxes reduced, I see huge tangible spending in infrastructure, and healthcare, none of my relatives, friends, or people I know lost their jobs, even with booming online business, my neighborhood markets see brisk business, new shops. No shop closed. My maid got a gas connection and toilet in her village. Realestate prices are down, two of my relatives bought houses. Govt is spending on Defense. Some landmark legislations like Bankruptcy code, benami property act passed. No big corruption, prevention of leakages in govt schemes. From soft state to airstrikes... Enough done ... More needed.
There are some short comings but overall no reason why this Govt shouldn't get another term. They are on right track.

Raghuram Rajan is indeed, as everyone says, one of the finest economists in world today. Very unfortunately, he left after his tenure came to an end. It is indeed a loss to this nation. It is sad that our government doesn't possess enough knowledge to make true assessments of eminent and highly qualified person's capabilities. We have crooks looting the treasury and escape. Experts like Raghuram Rajan should be always with Government of India and keep guiding the nation to a great future.

RR always a great analyst and master of economy. He is credited for prediction of US slowdown/recession at least 7-8 years earlier and what was actually faced by USA in around 2008. For the same, he was nominated for Nobel Prize in Economics in 2018. This guy is gem and need to be at the helm of affairs for better Indian economy perspective.
This guy has to be given another stint to push our economy forward.
