Great to see the cars presented without being ruined by cards naming the car in the windscreens, engine covers lifted and owners sitting on deck chairs. The B&W film shots look amazing with their grain and tonality.
@@kevinfickling6384 I am still learning about film, LOVED the end result of those shots. How much of that was the SOOC film/camera vs post processing? I am adding car shoots more and more, I use my Fuji X-H2 for it. Love your tones!!
@@MichaelFrederickPhoto thank you so much! That’s a tricky question to answer. All film that is scanned is technically being processed and the color rendition is up to the person scanning. (Me in this case) they weren’t edited in a program like Lightroom or photoshop but each scanner and operator can tweak things to their liking. Even when film is printed in a darkroom it’s being processed to the printers liking. Just not digitally. Don’t get caught up with people saying they don’t edit their film scans. It’s all edited by someone
MANNNNN.... One of your best videos yet. The photos give you that timeless feel. I really like your choices on what you brought and also your thought process on not switching things up but using what you have attached and making the best of it. Great work. Would love to go to this event sometime. Nailed it.
@@mattbump7462 thank you so much! I really appreciate it. Limiting yourself at events like this really helps I think. Next time I might even just use one camera and lens.
Kevin! Your photos are incredible! Thank you for sharing your talent! I love the unique flairs you captured with the cars. You're inspiring me to get back out there and shoot more film. I took my Konica IIIM to Vegas last week and I can't wait to get the scans back from the lab.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I really appreciate it. Shooting film isn’t always the easiest option but when it works out it’s worth all the hassle and effort. I hope your roll comes back great!
Thank you! I haven’t tried film on the 1.2 either. I suspect it will actually be much better than digital. The F1 noct performs best on black and white film
I have to say I prefer your film shots more, although the edit on your digitals looks awesome. Still the film shots have more character and as you said the black and white shots you can't tell when it was shot, because it looks timeless. Just beautiful. Thanks for sharing and great video Kevin! And greetings from Germany - your pronunciation on Luftgekühlt wasn't that bad ;)
Makes me want to find a better copy of my collapsible 50mm. Front element on mine is pretty scratched up from previous owners. So contrast drops when shot at lower F stops. Photos look great! Anamorphic looks great too! Wish my SL2s had anamorphic support.
Cinistill double X is rebranded expensive Kodak double X. You can still get Kodak DoubleXX rolls in 35 mm cassettes. A lot less expensive than the Cinistill
Yes I know that’s what it is. I happened to have this roll at home and decided to use it. I know there is less expensive ways out there to do it even bulk loading. I was just using what I had here!
Thanks! Honestly I like them both. The Summilux lenses will flair way more and have a ton of character especially wide open. They really couldn't be more different than the Summicron's. The cron's will have way more contrast, more sharpness and less flairing especially when you stop them down. Both are great, just depends the look you are going for.
Stellar photos! Really loved how they came out. I found your channel from that video you made with Gajan. I saw you at Luft but wasn't entirely sure and now I know that it was you haha. Wishing I went early like you did because the turn out was insane and that is always my concern at shows like this. I tried to counter that issue by staying till the very end as it cleared out quite a bit. We'll find out once I get to scanning my film lol. Thanks for the video.
Thank you so much! Glad you found my channel. Come up and say hi next time! I’m at all the Leica LA gallery openings usually. Hope your film turns out great!
On the M3, what is that shutter extender ? Nice eight element. Great TH-cam tutorial. @LeicaR2D2... Have you thought maybe using a 'polarized filters' in different lighting and reflected scenarios?
LOVE the grains, LOVE the film images way more. The imperfections are what we are after. My buddy was the DJ at the event. I should have went but there's always next year. Subbed and I'll follow you on IG

Glad you enjoyed it! Totally agree. It’s not your normal “car show”

Great photos and video Kevin. Love the b&w ones the most, amazing what you can get out of that radioactive Summicron
Thank you so much! That lens is one of my favorites for a reason!

Some awesome shots! Love those flare shots! BW were great!
Those were my favorite too! That cinestill film really worked great in this situation.
Love this idea of blending your interests. Great upload.

Great captures Kevin! Definitely can feel the timelessness in those images! 🙌🏾

That was the goal. Really glad they have that feel for you!
Great video Kevin!

I love the anamorphic interview style !!!!!! fire
Thank you! I’ll be filming a lot more in the future with them.
Great work all the way through, Kevin. You are definitely my new favourite photography enthusiast on the tube!

Its really hard to find a clean copy without issues but they are out there. Just takes a while to find the right one.
Sweet video! Air cooled? No sitting in LA freeway stopped traffic. Great images! You handled the contrasty scenes very well with film!
Thanks! It was a bit challenging for sure. Some things I would do differently next time but overall I’m pretty happy!

Very cool. What was the thinking with the vintage summicron versus say a Summilux?
