There in no such thing as animal whisperer. There are educated equestrians who know how to read the horse language, and there are equestrian who don't know. Everyone that is involved with horses should know the basic of it. The horse was just nervous for whatever reason and the guard calmed him down, really nothing special, everyday business for horse people.

Agreed. Wonder if this is a relatively new horse to this horrible duty. Noise sensitive, calling to his buddies. Agree this trooper did a great job calming him and avoiding an incident. But I HATE watching them get surrounded by hoards, treated like a petting zoo and background for stupid people taking stupid photos. Think they should be off limits for touching without specific permission. And these disappointed tourists being called off would be the first ones to holler if something happened. UGH! Love the horses and guards, hate the dumb people.

The soldiers have more patience than me, this horse was clearly upset at not having a herd member beside it in the other arch. Yet no matter how much he tells tourists to keep their distance, they ignore him and try talking to the horse, like they think they are the next horse whisperer who will save the day.🙄 Omg give me strength they really need to block full access to all tourists. The constant petting and grabbing the reins are beyond annoying for me and I'm just watching, it's got to be worse for the soldiers and horses. 😮‍💨

So you're a horse expert yourself, are you @SMariaKS? To feel compelled to dis on those of us who have been partnering with and learning from horses for 40+ years. Cheap shot. There is no doubt the guard is gently and respectfully working to keep his mount calm, and that horses prefer company which can make less experienced animals get restless and agitated but the guard has to do his job. He can't do any more to assess the cause of his horse's unease because being on duty restricts him from doing anything more than stroking the horse's neck and remaining calm himself. Horse 'experts' and those of us who have done duty on horseback recognize this and can also see the signs of the tongue over the bit.

Some people have no idea how horses can be unpredictable. They put themselves and their little ones so close to a horse in distress for a damn photograph. It’s dumbfounding. Selfishness that the only thing important is their want of a picture. This particular horse was showing all warning signs of not being comfortable.

She was gone for a couple of weeks Her sister was so upset. She cried and cried, wouldn't eat, kept getting out of the fence It was awful. Everyone was so happy when she returned 😂 Another note? The average person or the non-horse person have no clue of how hard it is for the horse to stand their for hours on end, both physically and mentally. The guardsmen really do have their hands full during that whole time. Horses get bored easily when in their stalls for hours on end and they can move around in there. Standing in one spot tends to cause swelling in most horses so a lot of work and care goes into these noble animals to maintain their health. I feel for both the horse and the guardsmen for having to maintain this post. It is so not easy. God bless them all.
