How to compare the music of KK's Priest to the music we used to listen to growing up in the 70's and 80's? Monstrously, Massively, what the kids need to hear today! Sabbath is pretty much gone. Mettalica is on the way out. Of all the metal bands left from the era, Owens and Kk make the genre relevant again! My 62 year old neck hurts from banging my head to their songs.............

This song proves that KK Downing was definitely an essential and most important part of JP. Without.him Priest is just not the same. Don't get me wrong, I love Glenn Tipton playing as much as I love KK's, but unfortunately he can't no longer perform and tour with the band because of Parkinson's. Anyways I'd love to see KK and Richie Faulkner played on the same stage with the rest of the band.

What I read was that he wanted to retire and took a golf management course. He got his diploma in that and opened his own golf course. However, still sad that they others won't let him back in even though K.K is one of the founding members..

That fell through leaving him out on his own. He's sold his rights to Priests music for a lump sum too. Exactly how accurate this is I'm not sure but I can understand the band not wanting him back after the way he treated them.
Basically what ames and fus said. K.K. wanted out of JP so he could invest in a golf course / 5-star hotel in Shropshire. That all went belly up, forcing him to sell his JP publishing as well as several guitars and amps from his personal collection. He wants back into JP now, and I can't blame him, because that's where the money is. They'll always be a way bigger draw than KK's Priest. Let's face it -- the only reason he called it KK's Priest was because he thought the connection to JP and having ex JP singer Tim "Ripper" Owens in the band would make his new band more profitable. They were also supposed to have ex JP drummer Les Binks too, but that didn't happen for whatever reason. Basically, he needs to get the money rolling in again, and without his JP publishing and his horde of valuable vintage guitars, he's running out of options.
KK Downing is a heavy metal soldier and veteran. A metal icon. The man has earned his place in the history of heavy metal despite a bitter divorce. I'm just so happy that he gets to play more lead with his own band now he's free to do whatever he wants.

I first got into Priest when they released Take On The World on vinyl. It wasn't that song that hooked me it was the B side Starbreaker. I've never looked back. 🤘

While the Tipton/ Downing guitar partnership was ostensibly an equal partnership, I felt that KK's talents were often underutilized in Priest for whatever reason, and this song is the latest proof. I mean, this song manages to be 100 percent true metal while still being creative (see that intro, and the arrangement of this song in general), something a lot of bands these days don't really pull off.
Now I think I finally understand why people liked Ripper Owens. His vocals really do fit the riffs and jams that KK is putting out here. How cool to see him back up on stage cranking the flying V!
It is awesome, I agree, but Ripper had issues with festival touring with ICED EARTH. Myself I am not a fan, but the talent her is amazing 👏 I agree in its produced and engineered state here on TH-cam it does sound good. Much respect Hippie
I prefer this over the regular JP.. As much as i respect Halford, his voice is nothing like it used to be. The Ripper is like 20 years younger than him and it shows.
I guess this is what was going to happen with Priest if Halford didn't come back in 2003. This is the musical direction KK wanted since Ripper joined back in the day, and he was super disappointed on that once the idea was not going to happen.
I really hope there's a third album in the works. KK express your craft the way you always wanted to! This album is really good and would love to hear the 3rd installment.

I was devastated when he left priest, i have been a priest fan since 12..im 56 and priest will always be my band, i wish KK never left, but thus project is amazing. I was not expecting the time signature changes, and tempo change. Very cool! The intro and dual guitar sections are in 🎼10/4 time, with the balance in of the song 4/4 time. The tempo change in the bridge/solo section was a blast (At first I thought you guys went into 6/4 time or 13/8 time there! 😅). Great work on the composition of this piece. It has some complexity to it and just keeps on rocking hard. Well done!

This is one of the greatest metal songs I have heard in very recent years. I cannot help but think about Napoleon: “La mort n'est rien, mais vivre vaincu et sans gloire, c'est mourir chaque jour.” The crave for one more shot glory lead him to his final fall.
It's great to have one of the all the time greats of metal back in the game. The song has elements of both the Painkiller and DOTF albums, but with a new fresh approach. The punchy mix is excellent too. Welcome back K.K. and may you stay at it for years to come!

Only problem that I have always had with Ripper is his stage presence with all the shadow boxing and the air guitar. He's got a fantastic voice.

You should listen to Wintersbane - Heart of a Killer album. Still probably my all time favorite Ripper Owens work.

Tim has a great voice but it is NOT one of a kind because Rob had the same voice when Ripper was in diapers. They both absolutely rock so no issues there.....:)

As everyone else, liking Judas Priest and Firepower is a really good record, but KK is now taking off like a shuttle. Absolutely great.
This is one of the greatest metal songs I have heard in very recent years. I cannot help but think about Napoleon: “La mort n'est rien, mais vivre vaincu et sans gloire, c'est mourir chaque jour.” The crave for one more shot glory lead him to his final fall.
It's great to have one of the all the time greats of metal back in the game. The song has elements of both the Painkiller and DOTF albums, but with a new fresh approach. The punchy mix is excellent too. Welcome back K.K. and may you stay at it for years to come!

This gives you a pretty solid sense of what KK's writing contributions were in JP. Has a very "Sin after Sin" vibe with modern equipment and sounds.
