Dark uprising is the best box they have ever made for Necromunda. If games workshop had reduced the price by $50 it would have hands down been the best starter box they ever produced. In my opinion we would have been looking at a much more successful game now
ya and when they have done it in the past, it has never worked. they just need to rework their methods, or the game will never succeed. instead they just do the same thing, and it flops over and over again
ya man i agree. corpse grinders too! my main faction back in the day was redemptionists, but they got rolled into cowdor, which is my brothers faction, so too much overlap... but thank the sweet gods of necromunda my Spyrer hunters are back baby!!!
ya i'm looking forward to it. making a dif box with terrain, and then not charging $300 for the main box is a good idea IMO entry price is key, then you can get people to spend. $300 for a big box is just too much to sample a game, the market has made that very clear!
@@WarHammerMan I agree that's outrageous in today's economy, especially if that box isn't jam packed to the gills with plastic. I don't understand why they can't find a decent balance between content and price. But great video as usual!
by the time dark uprising was popular, it was already out of print. i know this, because i had purchased multiple copies. the price just like with Ash wastes killed the game. but the actual value in the box, i agree was amazing! again i purchased multiples at a substantial discount. but i'm also obsessed with games workshop modular terrain!
@@WarHammerMan The only thing I regret more than not buying a fourth one is not getting another resin one. I bought my FW 4x4 resin ZM for $755... and that was like 6 years ago.
Hey you were right about the dark tide box mine just came in but it's even worse then you said. Instead of that thick chipboard stuff extra thin cardboard it was though it was more then double the $ space marine box or lair of the beast, Also the sprue poked big holes in the title poster thing they throw in these kind of boxes but oof And they packed it with so many little book lifts and stuff it was heavier than you'd think picking it up probably 2-3 pounds weirdly, paid $90 for it Even though the quality is more s**t then normal I needed some cultists and zombies so I'm happy but yes it should have been 20 bucks cheaper
I don't think this will fail the same way the last one did. I think GW is just doing with Necromunda the same thing they are doing with Killteam and War Cry. Remove the terrain and sell it separately from the core box. We have already been told they are releasing ruined terrain along with this, and it was spotted in the trailer, so if they did sell it all together like previously it would totally be around $350. Selling it separately allows them to charge a little more for both starter and terrain, which I hate, but its smart. I also think that Ash Wastes carrying the old Orlock gang sprue greatly hurt its impact as well as most either had them already or didn't want them. They should have just packed in the Squats with that one since they came out right after and the whole box could have been all new stuff. Sure this one has old Scum sprues but they are being repurposed at least into a new gang. Still nothing will beat Dark Uprising and all of its terrain! In the end I wont even be using that crappy paper mat. Maybe I can turn the old bulkhead sprues into some ruined scatter terrain since it is useless with other terrain. My guess is that this will retail for $180 which is what Hive War is close to and includes similar.
the kill team and warcry boxes to start were priced around $100. this is going to be a $200 box, and no terrain, it will fail. necromunda will stay dead. dark uprising was a great box, but nobody is paying $300 to try out a game. its lose lose. they need to pack a box with great value, to draw in new players/gamers, not remove all the cool stuff, and charge more. necromunda will flop again. i know from experience over the last decade. its never going to take off, when they use the same recipe that failed to deliver every time
I'm afraid, like Kill Team Gallowdark, it will be a short-term Series of Releases that will probably in time be sporadically packaged into other Releases to justify the high Price 🤔
i'm not sure, the article was very vague, and only one mention of the "dungeon Crawl" otherwise i'd have assumed it was pvp. i really hope its 2 teams of players, on the same side, fighting against AI similar to blackstone fortress. still trying to compete for kills and equipment, but co-operating. this would also be great for solo play, so lets hope they expand a bit, and actually explain the new product as it gets closer to release. blackstone fortress was amazing, and i'd love to see this be a sort of necromunda version of the warhammer quest series style games!
I want to see what the Spyer Hunters of House Greim allies of House Goliath look like. As well what their tech hunters or whatever Goliath calls them. If House Goliath has tech hunters. But this has percked my curiosity
ya sort of, but darktide is very niche, kill team rules, and flopping hard, because its massively overpriced. this is using far different rules, via necromunda ruleset. i'm not saying its great, but its def different
Can this box be a standalone type game? I had wanted to start necromunda before about the time of ash waste release. But after reading up some and realizing I need much more to enjoy it fully...
Necromunda release will be an early release in prep for those huge, optional terrain box releases containing the walls and additional accessories. Spyrer Suits look stupid! - A design set up for maximum awkwardness when navigating debris, commonly found in the underhive.
I wonder if we will be seeing a terrain box set with that shown @10:48 ? It looks similar, but different enough, to the previous terrain, as you identified.
I think with Necromunda being a very niche game, it’s to get new people in and play on other terrain. GW are damned if they do or if they don’t when it comes to starters sets Even for older players this is basically get miniatures, rules and new dice.
If this is 200$ it will suck. I don’t mind if it’s like 150 ish. I was dissatisfied with the terrain on here but it does look like the board itself uses the same setup as the zone mortal is terrain which most people into necromunda are good.
I'm lucky I have first edition necromunda rule books. They are changing necromunda to much. Will stay to the first ed and second ed with escher as my main. Female gangs rock.
I hope it is not $200+ as that will turn me away from this even though I like the Van Saar and Horrus Spyre models are cool. I am looking to get into Necromunda and the Van Saar models are what grabbed my attention. Wow the other Spyre Hunters are awesome.
ya it feels more like 2x $60 kits of models, a couple characters, and a book. not a big starter set thats going to pull people in. GW doesnt understand how to make a good box, for the smaller games, and the importance of getting in new blood

Also the big terrain pack with Zone Mortalis terrain was sweet. The floor tiles are a bit zzzz but teh rest is very fine
I'll wait until later and pick up a set of the malstrain stealers...eventhough i have a bajillion unfinished genestealers.
The little blue baby guy is a Caryatid Prime.
thanks i couldnt remember his name lol. cheers
The winged thing with the Spyrers is a Caryatid.
No terrain but will still aks for a ridiculous price 🤦
ya and when they have done it in the past, it has never worked. they just need to rework their methods, or the game will never succeed. instead they just do the same thing, and it flops over and over again
Have never played necromunda, not many people play it around my area that I know of. But really interested in this box! May pick it up.
I just hope House Goliath and House Greim actually get something that be. They did the Redemptionist dirty last time
ya man i agree. corpse grinders too! my main faction back in the day was redemptionists, but they got rolled into cowdor, which is my brothers faction, so too much overlap... but thank the sweet gods of necromunda my Spyrer hunters are back baby!!!
They are definitely gonna release new terrain for this season 3D terrain

@0:55 As a dungeon crawl, this should have gone to Warhammer Quest: Necromunda Secundus. That would have been awesome!
Dark Uprising definitely worked when it became clear that it was way cheaper to buy the terrain in the box than it was to piece buy it.

necromunda without terrain is like ice cream without a cone...
even worse. its like a fist full of ice cream...

Cool miniatures on the gang side. A little disappointed with the Genestealers.
Are they going to have AI solo rules for this box set?
i'm not sure, the article was very vague, and only one mention of the "dungeon Crawl" otherwise i'd have assumed it was pvp. i really hope its 2 teams of players, on the same side, fighting against AI similar to blackstone fortress. still trying to compete for kills and equipment, but co-operating. this would also be great for solo play, so lets hope they expand a bit, and actually explain the new product as it gets closer to release. blackstone fortress was amazing, and i'd love to see this be a sort of necromunda version of the warhammer quest series style games!
Seems interesting but def waiting to see what the overall price of the boxed set is going to be announced.
those orrus are very cool
ya they look awesome. i love the spyrer hunders!
That necromunda box looks cool but your saying it's not much cop😊👍
ya man i agree. i just keep it real. thats why i'm so loved and hated lol. people dont like the truth haha
I want to see what the Spyer Hunters of House Greim allies of House Goliath look like. As well what their tech hunters or whatever Goliath calls them. If House Goliath has tech hunters. But this has percked my curiosity
... dont we already have "Darktide" as a game, in which this gameply (admittedly a video game, not TT) That probably does this style of game, better?
ya sort of, but darktide is very niche, kill team rules, and flopping hard, because its massively overpriced. this is using far different rules, via necromunda ruleset. i'm not saying its great, but its def different
They grey parts of the map are walls. Very much a dungeon look?
The damaged Necromunda terrain released looks great in my opinion. Terrain is the key
will get the gangs later if at all 200.00 is so a huge leap of price for what you get!
Can this box be a standalone type game? I had wanted to start necromunda before about the time of ash waste release. But after reading up some and realizing I need much more to enjoy it fully...
Overpriced boxsets and rules sprwad acroas several books along with the overpriced terrain pieces will always be a huge barrier.
Necromunda release will be an early release in prep for those huge, optional terrain box releases containing the walls and additional accessories.
Spyrer Suits look stupid! - A design set up for maximum awkwardness when navigating debris, commonly found in the underhive.
Love the Tyranids/Genestealer Cult models!
@9:10 The Spyrer Suits are a little better.

Yeah, models are cool, but with no terrain, it really makes me not feel this box. Really like the mech suits.
