Sarah Lee is a spitfire talent. Just one note- it’s hard to smile & sing along to a song that is describing a rape. I wonder if her love for performing & for the music has overlooked this point. Certain songs are sing alongs for sure, but not this one. This is a blistering account of sexual and spiritual abuse.
I always loved Arlo Guthrie, and Sarah Lee is cute as can be, good singer, etc. But the Guthries are involved in a terrible cult. So you have a Hindu-based cultish woman sining a song written by her Communist/athiest father about some perverted mythical "preacher." Yu can find such stories that are true, no doubt, but you can find a lot more of trues and faithful Christians, preachers or not, who have helped, loved, cared for and died for an awful lot of people because of their belief in a holy and loving God.
@Charliemta Reading it over I did make a mistake, Sarah's grandfather wrote the sone and he was a communist, Arlo is not a communist but is mixed up in an awful cult, which makes me sick and sad. Do I hate them? of course not, I hate the cult and it's devilish origins. Note I said "I always loved Arlo" and I still do. even though Woody was a communist I still like him too, personally and his work, not his philosophy. But he died in 1967 and I can assure you he believes in God now.

Sara Lee, You've answered my prayer
tonight! God bless
the Guthrie songs&
let them be sung&
heard throughout
our land. Amen
What a sweet women the Guthrie family got.... 🙂
"There will be no church toknight."-favorite opening walking into Pool-Dart Bars.
great song, from a long time woody Guthrie fan, england
Love it all, the story the music, the sentiments!
Superb.
Absolutely fab
Woody saw through hypocrisy. Everyone’s human even though some claim to be holier than thou.
❤
This is very sensible to steal Woody's lyrics. He liked to say, "Him? Oh, he just stole from me, but I steal from everybody!"
If you cue up the closed captions, you get lines like "there'll be no church tuna".
Wow. I had no idea Woody would go near something this taboo. Wow. Ahead of his time.
Sarah j like your music! But you speak very very much

Probably a bit of a tough thing to sing now with all the clergy scandals.
Actually exactly why they should be sung right now!
Rape? Really? I know Woody wrote about all aspects of life but this is shocking.
You're in a dark place Sue, they're consenting adults.
@@bagchaserzent9238 I don't think so, Nelle is a teenager.

Sarah Lee Guthrie sounds like Jewish name?
Googleing it, her father's mother was Jewish!
