I know as I have been fortunate enough to visit the Anson museum twice and Geoff visited my engine collection while on holiday in Malta for me it was a great honour:-))
A bit different to the Mirrlees engines I've worked on over the years. The KV16 and K8 were favourite power station engines for large scale mines in Australia. Spent many years overhauling and maintaining them. Also worked on the MB275 which were situated in the OK Tedi gold /copper mine in Papua New Guinea
Needs an 80-bar compressor for the initial run-up until it's running fast enough for the internal compressor to supply the air for the air blast injection. I don't think the built-in air compressor was connected when this video was recorded.
I was a second man moving 2 engines from the factory to Ellesmere Port in 1988, fascinating place.
Nice engine the Mirrlees works well!!! Geoff is a nice guy always ready to help!!!!
Absolutely ots a great day out for any engine enthusiast , all staff are super friendly and full of information

Crazy that the water is still squeezed out of the air until it mixes with the rest of the atmosphere. That compression must be so high.
7:00 Pickwillow Museum, cheers
