It’s almost impressive that KK accomplished a near perfect destruction of her company all by herself than any hostile takeover could have managed. A tragic masterpiece of incompetence.
"A tragic masterpiece of incompetence: A Star Wars Story" I'm ready to bet this will be a documentary in 20 years once all the Lucasfilm IPs are dead and forgotten
If I was in Kennedy's place I could've used the money to live on a tropical island, and that level of complete neglect would've caused the company less damage than she has.
She managed to get her name into filming history. Albeit as the WORST thing to happen the most popular sci-fi franchise. But she is immortalized now, it was probably the plan all along.
Oh how I wish she would fall so hard that she ends up as a barista…but unfortunately, she along with the strawman “white men” she supposedly opposed, can only fail up due to her innate privilege and connections.
@@ravenshrike Yeah, it's in the billions now. Disney lost 3 billion last year but most of that was from Disney+. This year more than one billion will be lost from cinema alone.
I used to work with a woman (the bosses' daughter) who was being groomed to take over his business once he retired. I've often compared the experience to playing school house with a 6yr old. "Raise your hand if you want to talk!!" "Stay in your seat! & sit up straight!" "I'm in charge!!"...that sort of thing. She put several staff members on probation for the smallest mistakes, she revoked privileges we all took for granted, she panicked over the slightest inconveniences, I was forbidden for several months to perform a certain task after I once didn't do it well enough to her standards even though I did it thousands of times before. Eventually, her father and her husband sat her down & told her "This isn't going to work. We feel it'd be best if you just stayed at home." I can only imagine this is what working with KK is like. Thanks for destroying Star Wars & Indiana Jones, Grams. Why don't you go get us some coffee?
Drinker (as always) makes great point. Lucasfilm had/has the money/clout to make AN ORIGINAL FRANCHISE, and didn't, because that franchise would have to survive on its own merits and not a built-in audience. This was never about making good products, it was about using existing popular franchises as a delivery system for their political messages.
Disney even made an "original" film based on the story of how it persuaded P.L. Travers to sell them the rights to "Mary Poppins"; *but to give the devils their due,* at least that film prominently featured some of the pertinent details about the truly creative types in the Disney organization, such as the Sherman Brothers.
Old rumor, like 4+ year old, but rumor is the dirt she has on Disney insiders has something to do with the *Stein guy. Not the *Stein guy that Leslye Headland worked for, but the *Stein guy with an island.
Women ALWAYS fall upwards. No matter how talentless and pointless Remember! Girls have boobies and wet holes. That's pretty much a passport to anything.
Star Wars. Indiana Jones. LotR. The Matrix. Terminator. The list goes on. Can’t really tell people it’s not a conspiracy to supplant all the old greats anymore - it’s what they’ve done…they did it.
I'm sure the intent to supplant is a part of it, but let's not forget other culprits like corporate greed, sheer incompetence, virtue signaling, and the foolish mentality that these big IPs are too big to fail.
@@chasehedges6775 Incorrect, Thanos was all about balance. Wouldnt have killed ALL franchises, just a random half. What i am saying is Kennedy is more destructive than Thanos.
It’s so strange that Lucasfilm has gone from a company I liked and was always excited about when they released a new product to a company I genuinely loathe and despise. It really feels like they are going out of their way to destroy any and all goodwill they have acquired over the years by taking everything we love and turning it into an unfunny parody of what it used to be.
It has to be on purpose. It’s to push the older audience that cannot be influenced or manipulated out and go for the younger audience which can be manipulated through movies…example: “Protect trans kids” sign in Gwen’s room in the new animated Spiderman movie
What I REALLY love is that Hollywood cant get their fumbling claws onto Back to the Future. Its great to see that some franchise owners still have integrity.
Even if they managed to get the rights when the owner dies (kinda like Amazon did after the death of Christopher Tolkien) they can always hop in the DeLorean and change it back.
If back to the future was taken over, theyd have it so that some brunette woman created a paradox for all 3 movies to happen and to help marty succeed💀
Lucasfilm *did* have a new property in the works a few years ago, an adaptation of the book "Children of Blood and Bone". In only a little more than a year, Kennedy neglected the IP, alienated the author, and let the film rights lapse to be immediately scooped up by Paramount. Regardless of how the project might have turned out, KK pissed away a possible new franchise before it could even start, and likely made other creators even more wary of working with Lucasfilm.
She didn't neglect it. Chapek happened to make the boneheaded decision to move KK back to Star Wars. And people hailed him as anti-woke hero for a year 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I honestly wish Star Wars wasn't revitalized by Mandalorian Season 1, maybe all these shit TV shows would have never been made.
@@verycool2050 you are definitely correct, but consider Breitbart's quote that "politics is downstream from culture." The rot that comes out of popular culture informs (propagandizes?) the public, leading to changes in governance. Everything is broken, yes, and the cracks begin here.
@@Hello-bi1pm Kathleen Kennedy can't be "moved" to Star Wars, she's the head of Lucasfilm, she's in charge of all of their projects. She's the EP of Indiana Jones, too.
Here's a weird idea: What is Kathleen Kennedy is intentionally failing? There have been jokes about her being resentful of the men she worked under. What if destroying the things that Lucas and Spielberg made is her a petty act of spite to them? Is it possible?
no it is because they are probably backstopped financislly by blackrock to keep the esg messages going. seriouly otherwise the comoany would have arranged an" accident," for her.
Entirely possible. An alternative theory: She's trying to handle SW the same way George did "Make the movie that 13yo me wanted to see" But she's creatively bankrupt, so 🤷♂️ Also, this would explain why Kylo kept misplacing his shirt in Last Jedi
That's a decent point, but idk if it makes any sense. Regardless of the current state of these IPs, the legacy content is still really good. I'd argue intentionally making bad content only makes George and Spielberg's stuff even better by comparison.
It’s pretty impressive what KK has managed to achieve. Three IP’s, two of which were pretty much box office gold, and she’s destroyed them all within a few years 😂
Like the boys were saying in the video, it boggles the mind to think they wouldn't have shown her the door years ago... either she does have serious dirt on just about everyone that matters or they're that petrified of firing a feminist executive in Hollywood that they will let her bankrupt them. I just don't get it.
At this point I have to assume they are ruining these movie franchises on purpose…to push the older audience out and manipulate the younger audience with “THE MESSAGE”
The thing is...the younger audience that love that "message" aren't going to become paying customers. Bc they're all unemployed, marijuana smoking commie snowflakes living in their mothers sub-basements. They don't have their own money to spend. And even if they did, they wouldn't shell out that money on movies anyway--theyre just content with being keyboard warriors on social media. So the joke's on idiotic Lucasfilm production. I hope they continue losing billions.😂
Yes it’s on purpose , she had the female cast of Force awakens in 2015 with T -Shirts saying the “the force is female” and that’s what she’s doing , femalizing everything for her agenda
If Walt Disney be spinning in his grave, it might be best to attach him to a generator and power the entire f-ing world. Geez, the brand damage that Disney has caused themselves... it is still a miracle that investors are STILL buying into this company after all these massive flops after flops!
I'd say it's being pretty generous saying this was the last thing they had to go to after Crystal Skull. After that showing, Indie 5 was just beating a dead horse. It really is impressive how KK has managed to ruin every IP under her watch at this point. She didn't just make terrible product but managed to ruin them all so badly that the public wants nothing to do with them anymore. Has that ever happened before coming from one single person? I don't think it has and I'm pretty sure this is a record at this point.
@@christuffer This. I can excuse the prequels. I don't like them but George tried something and missed the mark. But the sequels were destructive and that I can't condone whatsoever. I mean, watching Ep 8 and 9, you could feel the mix of active disdain and ignorance about the OT. Lore, characters, tone - all gone. Kill the past if you have to amiright
@@thisisfyne Sequels don't even look or feel like they are in the same galaxy than the rest of the movies. Phantom Menace at least was instantly recognizable by it's tone to exist in the same place as Return of the Jedi. Of course J.J. Abrahms movies always look like they happen in the J.J. universe, which is one of the reasons he should never direct any legacy franchises.
@@mikavirtanen7029 Hmmmmm yeah I dunno, it's an interesting point. Aesthetically I think you're right, Phantom Menace did feel like Star Wars, but in terms of tone I'm not so sure. The OT had characters somewhat acting like real people despite being strong archetypes, and the tone was balanced expertly (adventure, drama, comedy, romance - it does it all). In Phantom Menace everyone is really rigid, borderline void of personality, and the tone shifts sooo wildly (from long boring political scenes to childish gibberish nonsense, on levels very far from Ep 4-5-6). Not gonna lie, I think Ep 7 was a decent return to form (almost to a fault), but the rest really falls into dogsh*t territory. If anything, Ep 3 and Rogue One are the most Star Wars films since the OT despite being very different from each other, but they somehow scratch the right itch to me.
Star Wars was doing fine until they decided that Palpatine had not died and 500 star destroyers than also made their appearance. Now they want an expanded universe and apparently some people like the Mandalorian, even though that was one of the things Star Wars was fighting against; the anti hero.
I remember in an interview Lucas said that he sold off Lucasfilm for the benefit of his employees. The company was unsustainable if it remained independent and Disney was looking to buy, so he gave his company a future via the purchase. Joke is now that the brand value has shrunk so much he could probably buy the company back and continue to pay his staff for decades to come. I wouldn't be surprised if him buying back Lucasfilm would immediately cause the stock value to shoot up.
@@RJALEXANDER777 Disney in bankruptcy is laughable. I hate Disney rn too but to think they’d ever be stressing over money is just absurd. Think of the 100s of revenue streams Disney has. They make billions on the parks alone.
There was something more sinister and insidious about the ruination of Willow. Warrick Davis is so innocent and pure and they tainted a perfect childhood fantasy movie! They are just trogs...
After game of thrones I knew they would fuck it up. Willow is one of my favorite movies wore out the vhs growing up and the books that were written after by Claremont and Lucas or that red headed dude were fucking brutal....so they didn't even have good writing to fall back on and most of these writers can't write themselves out of a paper bag.
@aaronforsythe8556 man I loved that movie! I still remember biking to the long gone mall theater to watch it! The toys were really cool too! Had a ton of them, my dad was quite adept at scouring the discount bins at toys r us and finding lots and lots of toys
There are a lot of parents like me who introduce our kids to Star Wars and other franchises through the movies we grew up with. My 12-year-old son just the other day said he wanted to rewatch all "6" SW movies starting with The Phantom Menace. He's 12 and doesn't even acknowledge the sequels. He also prefers the original Ghostbusters. I asked him about Indiana Jones, and he said he said he'd love to watch the "3" Indy movies again. Kids today are more aware of quality when it comes to entertainment than we give them credit for. It also doesn't hurt for us parents to show them and teach them about the originals. I'm currently watching Jackson's LoTR trilogy with my other son. Now he wants to read Tolkien's books.
Star Wars, ignored by audiences. Willow, ignored by audiences. Indiana Jones, ignored by audiences. There is no longer a way for Disney to make money from Lucasfilm productions. If I were Disney I would be looking for buyers for Lucasfilm, especially since they need a bunch of money to purchase what remains of Hulu from Comcast. Marvel is now losing them money, they still need to pay off the debt they put themselves in from buying Fox Entertainment, their parks are in disrepair, they are losing executives, and Lucasfilm is a trashfire. At this point, it would probably take around half a decade for Disney to turn things around, and that is if everything goes smoothly. Shit has officially hit the fan for Disney, and they just seem determined to make things worse. Their shareholders must be furious.
They need to reboot Indy and make more Like the old films with a new likeable actor as Indy set in the late 1920s another “young” Indiana Jones film could do well if it’s not woke
I have seen a video that put forward the idea that the likes of Blackrock and Vanguard, controlling as they do so many proxy shareholder votes for the people buying their ETF's, are forcing this EDI/ESG stuff on companies. I don't know for a fact it's true but I have seen a clip of Larry Fink talking about how they are 'forcing' behaviours on companies and if they don't comply 'you are going to be impacted'. So long as the majority of those owning shares via retirement funds and so on don't know what is being done I don't think anything will change.
Who would buy Lucasfilm? The only way I'd buy it is if they set fire to the building with all the employees inside so I could start completely over. At that point, you might as well just start a new, better company than buy a dump like that.
As someone who plays the SWTOR MMO, I've never been happier in my life that Disney has said The Old Republic isn't canon. As long as they deny its existence, they can't screw it up.
For me, the tipping point was when they de-canonized the extended universe content. It went from an expansive universe with endless nooks and crannies to explore into a small dark stage with a spotlight on a few characters no one cares about.
Kennedy should have been fired after the handling of TLJ. They tried to give her credit for TFA box office success, yet everyone knows it was going to rake it in. But a trilogy without planning it? Pushing out the second film without any review of the script? Then having Lucasfilm staff insult fans? And then *no one* is held accountable? Solo Bombing should have been a serious sign that they needed to do a shakeup at Lucasflim, yet they kept KK and her ilk running the studio.
To add on to Drinkers comment on "How much sludge does there have to be to overshadow the good stuff?" I'm already at this point with SW. Too put things in perspective, My Older Brother and I grew up on both Original and Prequel Trilogies. We would rewatch those films over and over and over again until we memorized every single quotable line of dialogue, stay up late watching the Clone Wars tv Series every Friday or Saturday night. But now? Now thanks to Disney, they've tainted every aspect that I loved about this IP to the point where I can't even go back and watch the OT or PT because the Sequel Trilogy ruined the whole story! Anakin's Redemption was completely undone because they just had to make Creemy Sheeve's Granddaughter the real hero of the galaxy all because Rain had to go and make one of the most retarded writing decisions anyone could ever make. Luke is just an old hill billy jack ass that gave up on everyone because his nephew had some bad dreams (Another Great writing decision by Rain) and the rest is history. But you wanna know what the sad part of all this is? The most gut wrenching part that just hurts you in your soul?... I just recently played Republic Commando for the first time ever, and I had a blast. The story was fun and engaging, the gameplay was great for the time it came out, and all the members of Delta Squad were so Cool and Badass, so when the game leaves off on the cliffhanger where Rev is captured by the Separatists, I was devastated to find out this game never got a popper followup because I had real investment in the characters and wanted to see their story line continue. And that's the part I want to highlight, it *HAD* characters. Star Wars *HAD* characters that I loved. Star Wars *HAD* story's that I could spent hours of my time engaging with and never for one second get tired of. But now I can't.... Now this thing that I once loved since the earliest memories of my Childhood is dead, and in it's place is a hollow husk of what it once was only made to print money. That's just..... It's just sad for me to even have to say this
You don't have to let these trolls reduce your enjoyment of the OT and Prequel. Just deny these posers the right. Amazon can't destroy the Genius of LOTR for me no matter what they do because I deny them credibility.
Have solace in the notion that they not only ruined Star Wars, and Indiana Jones, and Willow, but all the Disney Renaissance animated films with their "real action" remakes, and that Fox ruined Terminator, and Paramount ruined Star Trek, and Amazon ruined Lord of The Rings, they ruined Ghostbusters, Bill and Ted, and the wachoskies ruined themselves before ruining The Matrix, so it's not only Star Wars you see?
There's a line early on in Jedi Survivor that I am amazed got past the editors. The MC is on Coruuscant and lamenting what the Empire has done to the temple, and a side character responds with "It's what the Empire does: take something you love and twist it into something you hate." If that's not a great metaphor for Disney I don't know what is.
If you ignore the Disney trilogy and treat it as non canon then the real SW movies are good, post ROTJ just read the EU novels like Zhan's trilogy for a continuation of the story.
I'm in a similar boat, my whole family loved the original movies. My brother and I would play the Star Wars card game and he even got the Star Wars encylopedia. Guess what our first 2 cats were named? Luke and Leia. The new trilogies are garbage, I have a really hard time watching the originals because they are still so good, that I cant believe how badly Disney fumbled their transition. I think the part that really kills me is the grey force side. Growing up there were only 2 sides. One lead to the other like a Ying Yang. Now some AH is retconning (badly)... Disney tried hard and we know what Yoda says about try hards.
When most people I knew were happy that George sold the farm to Disney... I had reservations. To my horror, they exceeded my worst expectations in ways I could not have imagined... there is no way this was anything other than intentional destruction, and defilement.
That was back when they did a great job with marvel. I was cautiously optimistic until they canceled the Clone Wars and 1313. Then I became skeptical and my opinion has only dropped since then. I have had moments of hope where I thought that they were finally listening and learning but each and every time that hope has been squashed with garbage. They started strong with Rogue One, Andor was amazing, the Mandalorian was good, the final 4 episodes of season 7 of the Clone Wars was peak Star Wars, and the Bad Batch has been okay. Everything else has been crap.
After the prequels, I figured Disney couldn't possibly screw things up worse than George. They did, but I'm amazed at the number of Disney haters who are so delusional that they think the prequels WEREN'T incompetent shit. Disney somehow managed to be even MORE incompetent, though.
@@bigmekboy175 TCW S7 last 4 episodes peak Star Wars??? You mean Mary Sue Ahsoka who sides with the most evil Space Karen ever and guilt-trips Obi-Wan to help that narcissistic sociopath to gain power over the planet of people she was terrorizing for years, and who got her own sister killed, which she BTW always wanted to do? And who tried to kill Ahsoka herself a few years ago? That horrible writing wasn´t roasted enough by the fans, and the result is Space Karen keeps ruining other stuff, including Mando, which was the only generally popular thing Dissny had.
@mousemetal1679 I would never consider Ahsoka a Mary Sue. Mary Sue's are the bestest ever at everything and never make mistakes. Ahsoka's career is filled with failures and Anakin was always more skilled and powerful than her. I'm also a fan of Bo and she is definitely not a Karen. I was not a fan of season 3 but that was the writer's screwing up and a very rushed production cycle.
@@bigmekboy175 No. Mary Sue is a character who bends the rules of the universe she´s in around her. She might be flawed, but these flaws are never treated as flaws. She might be overpowered, or she might get away with stuff no other character can get away with. Ahsoka definitely IS overpowered in S7 where she is a padawan who never finished her training, she was out of the Jedi temple for some time, but she still defeated Maul somehow (the plot bends around her). Also the clones painting their helmets with her facial tattoo is insane worship and it falls into the "Mary Sues are loved just because they exist" cliche. Bo-Karen is the most sociopathic, narcissistic pseudocharacter ever written, evil on the level of Palpatine, but never faces any consequences and keeps falling upwards instead. Which makes her also a Mary Sue on top of that. She is manipulative, sadistic, envious, enjoys terrorizing people, abuses villagers for power-trip, terrorizes the civilians of Mandalore as the 2nd in command of Death Watch, the organization which exists only to establish a militaristic totalitarian regime...and somehow the same civilians are OK with her as the ruler. She got her sister killed, and then she used her as a leverage to guilt-trip Obi-Wan. Her entitlement to the throne is out of charts. She is a Karen because she is entitled, narcissistic, aggresive, spineless, manipulative and has no self-reflection. She also plays a victim and blames everyone around her for her mistakes and evil deeds. Deep down she is a weak coward. She is absolutely irredeemable. The worst pseudocharacter I have ever seen in anything.
Kennedy's contract renewal moving up to August (if true) means Disney is finally closing the barn door after the horses have run away and 95% of the barn has burnt down. There is no way they moved up the renewal to reward her for this performance. But they are also not firing her, just allowing her to exit "to be with family". Poor Frank...
No she’ll definitely leave when she wants to as she’s too powerful with being Hollywood royalty, she could switch over to Marvel tomorrow and finally kill off the MCU in the most disrespectful way possible and still be awarded with a golden parachute.
@@RogueFox2185feige is doing plenty enough damage to marvel without her help, but I think she will be offered the chance to leave on her own terms sooner rather than later, otherwise Disney will never be able to claw back from the "modern audience" mentality. This was why I was against the Halloween thing for awhile. You don't need Myers to come back in new installments. The Terrifier guy is a good idea and something new. Time to put Chucky to rest like ten years ago.
I agree! They had their time and it's time to put them to rest, otherwise it's just beating a dead horse. As much as I love Blumhouse, their Halloween trilogy dropped the ball and the Chucky franchise is just a woke shit show now. Time for new horror franchises to have a turn. I admit I am excited to see what futures M3gan, the Black Phone and Five Nights at Freddy's are gonna go.
Their retconning Halloween was a mistake, lazy and a slap in the face to Donald Pleasense as he was part of that franchise as Dr Loomis and scrapping the sequels erases his work. What Halloween's issue was not getting capable directors and competent writers to carry the franchise, which is what it became because audiences wanted more Michael and not an anthology series. The studio execs didnt bother getting the competent directors and writers because for some reason they look down on the horror genre so they never invest enough in it even though so many indie horror films have stood the test of time and are iconic. The retcon trilogy was nothing but a cash grab and another pay check for an aging Jamie Lee Curtis
The most impressive thing about kk's destruction of lucasfilm, is that she has spent years absolutely destroying all of their intellectual properties, without losing her job. It's actually amazing.
I actually think that a new buyer for Lucasfilm could turn things around if the first thing they did was just to declare everything Disney did besides Andor and maybe Rogue One was a fever dream of an unreliable narrator, and that the Star Wars galaxy is actually nothing like that. Of course, the one person who could best pull this off is George Lucas himself, but he's not the only one. Just imagine if that happened. How many people would buy a seat to see what the new thing is like? And what if they wrote an actually deep story, commissioning real writers and consulting folklorists and staying on human universals? Just the profit from the first movie might be enough to cover the purchase price of Lucasfilm.
The emasculation and destruction of MALE heroes is absolutely deliberate. It's obvious. That anyone would take resentment of the tiny humiliations of working for a hugely successful boss and turn THAT into their sole motive is not something a mentally well person would do.
Omg, the comparison of a football player going for a goal, tripping on themselves and shitting their pants - I was laughing so hard I was crying. Same with demoting the “film” to a collection of images and sounds. Amazing and so, so accurate
So glad to see my boy Mr. H hanging out with the Drinker, Mauler and crew!!! I knew lucasfilm was done the moment Disney took over and then walking out of TFA confused and angry. Then TLJ was like watching your best childhood friend being executed in front of you, only to be revived and executed again, over and over The Edge of Tomorrow style. Since then I just sit back with you guys and watch KK and Hollywood burn everything to the ground. Shields high boys from the USA
This reminds me of a story from my hometown of a man selling his house but the new owners defaulted on their loan and trashed the house in revenge then the man bought his old house back and fixed it up for a combined total of half the money he sold it for
Man growing up witnessing the worst era of movie industry sucks. I really hope other franchises thrive on like Monsterverse to create some competition for other studios to grow without abandoning their loyal fans
Ah f*ck stop with the franchises, verse’s and all that garbage, it worked once with marvel, I’d like to see a movie without having to watch ten other movies.

Given how video game movies might be on the verge of making it big in Hollywood, I'm curious to see if Disney tries pumping out movies based off of Lucasarts games. Keep your eyes peeled for something like Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, Manic Mansion, or (and this would be the funny one to me) Secret of Monkey Island. My understanding is that Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl started out as a Monkey Island script.
I squarely blame the "super fans" that will gobble up and defend anything that comes with a Star Wars label on it. They go through immense lengths to justify it, it's like talking to a religious zealot, and keep giving their money away with reckless abandon.
The audience always gets exactly what they're willing to put up with. I know one of these people in real life. It's strange, it's like he doesn't even enjoy it - he just purchases and watches it anyway.
Blaming the audience for the success/failure of a product is insanity. They didn't make it. I've seen many companies blame their customers for reduced profits; it's always a sign of their downfall. It's the creator's fault if they can't please the market, and it's their job to figure out where they went wrong.
I know some people like that too, sunk-cost fallacy is a real b*tch. They'll even complain about the quality but still go see the movies "just to see how it ends".
@@YOSHIERIDER I get your point, but what he's saying here is that if people stopping simping for mediocre "content", we would probably stop being bombarded with it. Money is their incentive and as consumers it's our only way to let them know what we think.

Isn't Monkey Island a property of Lucasarts too? That could be the perfect ip in the right hands : you take Orlando Bloom or his cheaper, younger equivalent, you make him a bit of a bumbling idiot and a coward but with a good heart and crazy ideas, you make a scary but a bit ineffective LeChuck, that couldn't beat Elaine but uses magic and trickery. Elaine is a governor of an island and doesn't really love Guybrush, at least in the beginning. It's perfect! You can make the man the sympathetic and cute idiot, the lady strong and the villain white and macho. Too bad they don't have a talented writer anymore...
I'm with Drinker on doubting if the Rey film will get all the way to the end. One reason being the choice in director- someone who's mainly a documentary director for Pakistani women's issues. Her own wiki page calls her a journalist before it calls her a filmmaker. Kevin Feige loved hiring those kinds of directors in Phase 4, but the difference there was that he already had a whole set up to churn out the MCU movies. And even with that they still sucked. Lucasfilm otoh is trying to start up its SW films again, and a director with almost no feature film experience, let alone with scifi or CGI, is not the best choice for it.
As a kid I’d watch the Indy trilogy probably once a week. Same with SW trilogy. I’d rather watch a docuseries on the making of “Two Girls, One Cup” than admit to buying a ticket to this Dial of Disney dross.
Everyone who never gave up on the EU: You had your hit and miss but your were aways leagues better than the the abomination of a simulacra that call itself star wars now.
We could’ve had a Yuzong Vong or Old Republic trilogy under a Lucasfilms that actually cared about quality, though good thing they aren’t touching the EU timeline.
Kathleen is the Hollywood equivalent of Sauron with her corrupting any franchise that was beloved with her influence, though unlike Kathleen at least Sauron could still use what he twisted for his own use while KK just has it’s soul horrifically sucked out like what Shang Tsung does to his victims.
Please, let's not insult the Dark Lord. Sauron wanted to optimize the heck out of middle Earth. Kennedy wants to make each franchise female dominated to leave her mark.
If Kathleen sucks out every franchise she touches then she would be more of Dementor from Harry Potter since they suck the soul and happiness of their victims like she does.
Piss off. Sauron was one of the most competent villains put to fiction who only lost via divine intervention. Disney would actually make profit under Sauron's watch.

Kathleen Kennedy admitted what her goal was by way of Kylo Ren when he said "Let the past die. Kill it if you have to." Her goal was to destroy all that George Lucas created, and she has succeeded. Now, she will be promoted, and will move on to another man's legacy to utterly destroy. I am certain that her chief motivations are hatred and envy. Prosperity for herself is at best a distant third.
@@AbelMusa They destroyed Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Indiana Jones, and Willow Ulfgood. They didn't simply kill them, they made Luke a coward, Han a failure as a father and smuggler, and they even meant to erase Indiana from the timeline. All that was built by men, especially heroic male characters, has been ruined. They regurgitate the plots and the settings, yes, but with Strong Independent, Mary Sues who don't need no man, and who are utterly unlikable. They have killed the (male) past to make way for the Glorious (feminist man-hating) future, and they have killed the franchises in the process.
@@zogwort1522 The past (I.E. the original trilogy and prequels) were intact. What you call "scavenging" was vandalism and to wreck a work of art to "remold it into your own image" is a hateful act. @@RealBadGaming52 Kathleen Kennedy isn't "the world" as much as she may think she is. I don't look at the world and see only the bad. But I'm hard pressed to see any good in anything that Kathleen Kennedy has done since gaining control of Lucasfilm. MeToo is not the cause, but a symptom of a problem that has been growing for decades, but that is a non sequitur. It doesn't excuse KK's actions.
The folly is attempting to continue milking franchises that ran their course decades ago, starring actors who are now quite old and frail. Imagine 50 years from now some studio attempting to make another Barbie movie starring an 80 year old Margot Robbie.
Kathleen Kennedy is just amazingly incompetent. I’m not even talking about the movies being bad or the hamfisted ideology, films can be like that and still retain good numbers. At this point how many directors has she gone through for SW and cancelled projects for? 5? 7? How bad is your decision making that you keep bringing them on at all if you aren’t getting what you want. Why on earth is the Indiana Jones film so expensive? It could end up with a actually pretty good box office return (unlikely) and still barely break even when you factor in marketing costs.
Supposedly they actually filmed several movies worth of alternate scenes so they could Frankenstein it in response to focus groups. I would say that's where the money went.
I just posted exactly this under another comment. Glad to see I'm not the only one who remembers the game fondly. We'll meet again in a few years when they announce that during an Open Bar...
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The only people keeping Star Wars alive are the ones making fan films. There's more plot and character development in a 10 to 12 minute fan film than the entire Disney trilogy.
Kinda reminds you of post ROTJ when Timothy Zahn released his thrawn book after Lucas had left Star wars to rot, then more books came around and rekindled the interest.
@MyAramil In a way, yes. However, Star Wars fan films have (apparently) been around since 1978. Shame we didn't get a Thrawn trilogy of movies, rather than the abysmal Rey trilogy. 😒😒
It starts at the top of Disney Bob Iger do something! Everyone blames KK rightfully so however he allows her and the creative decision makers stay in the company. Lucasfilm needs a restructuring especially the bad decision makers In the franchise will continue to fail otherwise. I don’t know any job that people constantly offer poor performance and keep them employeed. To me Bob iger is to blame.
I think KK is a good example of The Peter Principle: Dysfunctionality ensues when a promotion is based on skills that are no longer useful for the higher job.
There's more creativity in the Drinker raising his elbow and having a glass, and in MauLer's icon bleeping when he speaks, than there is in the entirety of current Lucasfilms
My theory is that Kathleen Kennedy being at the helm of Lucasfilm at a certain period of time was part of the sales agreement Disney made with Lucas when they bought Lucasfilm from him.
I'd think they could get around that sort of thing by letting her keep the post but assigning all the responsibilities to someone else. I think the real thing is that nobody there thinks enough about making quality movie over appeasing the woke.
All of Hollyweird does this...they announce a movie based on some character or event and, only then, write the story. Like Mando or Rey. That's backasswards. If you don't have a good story, there's ZERO reason to continue.
It’s almost impressive that KK accomplished a near perfect destruction of her company all by herself than any hostile takeover could have managed. A tragic masterpiece of incompetence.

I'm ready to bet this will be a documentary in 20 years once all the Lucasfilm IPs are dead and forgotten

What I REALLY love is that Hollywood cant get their fumbling claws onto Back to the Future. Its great to see that some franchise owners still have integrity.

And people hailed him as anti-woke hero for a year 🤣🤣🤣🤣

You guys keep ignoring the obvious answer as to why Kennedy hasn't been fired. She is doing exactly what they told her to do.

Who's Frank???
@roguefox1023 Kathleen Kennedy must have personally witnessed and recording some Hollywood bigwig doing something horrible for her to be so untouchable.
I don't know if she'll ever leave quite honestly. At this point, the only thing that makes sense is that she has blackmail material.

She should be banned to the shadow realm for what she's done. Like how are you allowed to fail that bad, and keep your job?
The most impressive thing about kk's destruction of lucasfilm, is that she has spent years absolutely destroying all of their intellectual properties, without losing her job. It's actually amazing.
This is a record, surely? I'm almost impressed how quickly it's happened.

You can’t help but wonder if it’s being done on purpose.
Its been on purpose but they didnt expect things to fail. They thought they could give us troughs of feces and that we would eat it like savage swine.
Almost certainly at least in part.
The emasculation and destruction of MALE heroes is absolutely deliberate. It's obvious.
That anyone would take resentment of the tiny humiliations of working for a hugely successful boss and turn THAT into their sole motive is not something a mentally well person would do.

It’s definitely being done on purpose.

Gore verbinski is rumored to direct the Monkey Island live action adaptation
I squarely blame the "super fans" that will gobble up and defend anything that comes with a Star Wars label on it. They go through immense lengths to justify it, it's like talking to a religious zealot, and keep giving their money away with reckless abandon.

It took KK just under 10 years to utterly destroy what took George Lucas literal decades to build up.
Destruction is always easier (and faster) than creation.
Lucasfilm plays a key role in the destruction of Disney. And they are doing a great job. Keep the flops coming!
This is how Lucasfilm ends, not with a bang, but with a flop.
their garbage will NEVER overshadow the good stuff.
they'll just go broke for making it. those of us who know the good stuff will remain true to it.
For George Lucas, this must be like watching your ex wife move on to a seriously abusive relationship...
More like giving the hand of your daughter to a guy in which she then ends up in an abusive relationship.
It takes effort to run Lucasfilm this badly, they had the keys to a ferrari and treated it like a skoda
Worse - They made it into a 1975 Trabant or 2002 Pontiac Aztek.
Star Wars jumped the shark when Baby Yoda showed up.
As a kid I’d watch the Indy trilogy probably once a week. Same with SW trilogy.

I never disliked the EU, speak for yourself.
Perhaps we treated the prequels too harshly. If we hadn’t this may never have happened
At this point, KK's next brilliant step would be to burn down the Disney headquarters for the insurance money.
"FLAWLESS SELF-OWN!!"

But they aren't letting the past die AT ALL. They are eating it and regurgitating it, over and over again.
Dear Drinker, I feel you are unfairly besmirching junkies in comparing them to KK.

Not really.
Incompetent or malicious?
Highly competent. You just cobtinue to assume her job is to make money - at which she's awful - instead of to destroy cultural legacy.
Supposedly they actually filmed several movies worth of alternate scenes so they could Frankenstein it in response to focus groups. I would say that's where the money went.
KK is doing this deliberately. I wish it were incompetence!

My theory is that Kathleen Kennedy being at the helm of Lucasfilm at a certain period of time was part of the sales agreement Disney made with Lucas when they bought Lucasfilm from him.
That actually sounds plausible.
I'd think they could get around that sort of thing by letting her keep the post but assigning all the responsibilities to someone else. I think the real thing is that nobody there thinks enough about making quality movie over appeasing the woke.
