"She'll swing you a jazz tune or Rock & Roll you on Broadway. Her voice has sold you candy bars and cars. On the stage, the stadium and in the studio she's reached hundreds of thousands of people's hearts. Maybe you just didn't know it. That voice that has sung with symphonies and will now read you a story on your way home."

"Pearl's a Singer" is a song made famous by the British singer Elkie Brooks, as taken from her 1977 album Two Days Away which was produced by the song's co-writers Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. The original version of "Pearl's a Singer" had been introduced by the duo Dino and Sembello - also the song's co-writers - on their 1974 self-titled album which Leiber and Stoller had produced. "Pearl's a Singer" is featured in the score of the Leiber & Stoller musical revue Smokey Joe's Cafe: a musical revue showcasing 39 pop standards, including rock and roll and rhythm and blues songs written by songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. The Original Broadway cast recording, Smokey Joe's Cafe: The Songs Of Leiber And Stoller, won a Grammy award in 1996. After a Los Angeles tryout, the revue opened on Broadway in 1995, running for 2,036 performances, making it the longest-running musical revue in Broadway history! It also had a London run in 1996.
