Great video Amani, I’m planning on taking my brother and nephews out there tomorrow (8/6/22) for a 1 day trip since all campsites are booked, can you recommend a good spot weather it be Tahoe, river or others surrounding lakes we can spend a few hours fishing that will produce some edible size fish please. Coming from Bay Area.
Tahoe is an absolute Zoo right now so I'm not sure how good that's going to be. You probably need to find deep water. Bliss State Park has it but when I went I really had to climb down to it. I have a clip for it on my 'Lakes and Reservoirs' playlist but the hike down is tedious where I went. Eagle Lake is a short hike from the Eagle falls trailhead and that has nice rainbows and browns for an alpine lake. The Truckee off the 80 is good and I believe there is a bag limit for a lot of it but I strongly recommend checking the regulations before you go. You could also just take a trip to Ice House Lake and fish the deep water near the half of the lake near the dam. I have clips for this lake on my 'lakes and reservoirs' playlist. I also have clips for nearby Loon lake and Union valley reservoir. Summer is tough for shoreline trout fishing in reservoirs and lakes. Good luck.
@@wildernesswithamani1027 thx, maybe we’ll trek out to one of these places, just arrived at cave rock and no parking as well as closed bbqs so can’t even bbq here! 3 casts in Brother caught a nice rainbow with a cast master!

To be honest, I don't think I have the technological capability to make an accurate map and post it In most of my Tahoe clips on my 'lakes and reservoirs' fishing playlist I discuss my spot in terms of where it is. For example, when I fish Emerald bay on some occasions I am below the boat camp. when I fish near Sand Harbor or Chimney Beach I show the beach area and where I am headed in relation to that. Bottom line, when it's cold find 10 feet of water or more and give it a go. The details of how I rig up can be found on my fishing tips playlist. "rigging up for reservoir trout" is one clip that shows how I rig up for bait fishing for trout. Good luck.
Been watching the channel recently since my kid and I will be going to Tahoe on the 14th of this month. What set up do you recommend. This will be our first time fishing Tahoe. Subscribed.
If you go to my fishing tips playlist my clip "rigging up for reservoir trout" goes into detail for my general set up for bait fishing for trout from shore. I also have clips on that playlist for the specific hooks I use etc. I have multiple clips for lake Tahoe on my 'lakes and reservoirs' playlist. Good luck. Fishing is tough in the Summer but if you can find some deep water near where you are going it can work out. Good luck.
Water was nice. Once I jumped in and wasn't shocked by cold, my hopes for a larger trout at that point fizzled! There were a lot of those Lahontans biting light on me! I was yanking my bait away! Those will be good to catch next spring and beyond if they don't get eaten.
I’m with my 13 year old son in Tahoe next week. His 1st Cali fishing adventure awaits. Any specific shore spot you recommend other than from this area. He’s a stud and in for the trek so distance to lake is not an issue. We’re staying in So.Lake. If you are in the area, you’ll be more than our guest.
I typically fish Lake Tahoe during the months when the weather and water are much colder. The fishing is much better under those conditions. With that said, I would look for deep water. The Chimney Beach has deep water if you go left at the lake, away from the actual beach. I have a number of other spots on my 'lakes and reservoirs' playlist. If you go to my playlist dealing with backcountry lakes and creeks, Eagle lake is a short hike above Emerald Bay and there are nice browns and rainbows in there. I have a couple of clips for that lake. Emerald bay has fairly deep water to fish but I can only imagine it's going to be a zoo down there with the campgrounds open. If you have a tolerance for a 5 mile hike Dicks Lake and Fontanillis lake both have real nice brookies but its a trek to get there. I've day hiked that and it's doable if you get an early start. In all of my Lake Tahoe clips I talk about the depth I'm fishing so all I can say again, look for deep water. When the water is cold I'd say look for water 10 feet or more but now, I'd stay as deep as possible. I don't fish Tahoe much myself during the hot months.
Found a great deep spot on the Rubicon trail from the Bliss park lowest parking lot (Rubicon trailhead). 1/3 mile on the trail, some steep scrambling, and found a great flat fishing point in steep water. My son caught his 1st trout-14” rainbow/hybrid on power bait. Hiking to Eagle Lake tomorrow. Thanks again for your vid’s and insight! Take care, Robin Altena
