- Apple delays AI features until 2025 even after the rumored launch of the iPhone 16. Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot have had a lot of big mistakes with their roll out. WWDC has some great new features but what's coming in the fall of 2024 and what's being delayed?

A slow roll out makes sense. Letting users decide what capabilities they want and how they’ll be used makes sense too.
They better include the improved Siri with iOS 18

Only if you have an iPhone 15 Pro or later. Everyone else gets to keep crap Siri that has never lived up to expectations or even been of much use for that matter. They told us how good Siri was and it wasn’t, not even coming close to alternatives. So the concern is that the next Siri will also not be anywhere close to the competition. It’s not going to be great because Apple says so, again. The redeeming factor will likely be the partnership with ChatGPT which will end up doing all the work and make Siri look good.
Apple, et all, stated exactly what this episode is all about. Some features are available at release, the rest would be enabled in subsequent versions. That is what Apple has done for the past two decades.

Apple always slow rolled their new iOS features through the year ; that’s why they have Betas throughout the year before the RC gets released.

Ok, finally some common sense. That’s one thing I believe everyone would agree on.
The only upgrade/feature I want is the complete removal of the notch/pill/hole-punch… Innovate and put everything under the screen for a clean look!
When they can do that well, with height quality, hi Rez sensors without loosing quality as we’ve seen happen with several Android phones, they will. Until then, I’d rather the higher quality.
I hope the photo clean up feature is there at launch.

I'm super curious as to what the "Why" is for iPhone 16. The phone will be released and still will be mostly equal to the previous iteration.
@13:14 - "massive limitation of Siri, that you can't type to it." Wrong, I've been typing to Siri for years... on my Mac. What I wish you would ask is whether there will be an API for developers (on both macOS and iOS/iPadOS) to allow applications to send a request to Siri's typing interface, and get a response back from Siri. THAT would be a game changer.
Heard about Super AI coming out in less than a decade. Next is Super D Duper AI. It is all Dr. Suess " stars upon Thars "
I’m really really glad that Apple is finally building their own cloud infrastructure with their own silicon. I hope they go big and eventually move everything to it. And it’s interesting that Apple says, “powered by a new operating system: a hardened subset of the foundations of iOS and macOS tailored to support large language model (LLM) inference workloads while presenting an extremely narrow attack surface.”
Best moment to upgrade is iPhone 17 for sure, second year of hardware redesign and AI implementation. Also, Microsoft has given them extra time and issues to take into account.
As users we also need to see how it affects the battery life, performance, memory impact, etc. Maybe instead of bare minimum of 8GB we might need 10GB

Please mix the microphones louder. The music bombs in at the beginning, but then the gain is so low on the mic, I got to turn it all the way up!
The gain levels between the music and the podcast should be equal is what I mean.
I always felt Siri 2.0 would be delayed. Now when they say 2025, that better be no later than March or it will start getting weird. People will be confused about waiting until iPhone 17. That super cycle will be split!

Thing tells me they were rushing to get the announcement out for investors. There was a reason they didn’t show much on Siri in action!

That's really true. I've trained LLMs since the beginning and they never follow the instructions 100% no matter how hard I tried.
Cause you have to feed it with true data by the “from simple to complex” system, not just a random bunch of everything. And the best part of that - no hallucination!
I use my Vision Pro regularly. I think one of the best applications of AI would be improving the voice to text capabilities. I would also like to see better editing for example. The ability will say Replace the word competitive with collaborative. Or the ability to say replace the; at the end of the third sentence of the second paragraph with a colon.

Ngl id be disappointed if we dont see that deep level integration across first party apps like calendars, mail, messenger, maps, reminders and ESPECIALLY shortcuts. The prospect of the ai being able to understand my request for a shortcut and being able to script that for me is genuinely exciting for the idea of making optimization more accessible for people like myself who dont enjoy the tedium of jumping between apps and trying to learn the scripting tools or manually inputing information to create continuity across apps. I can wait on gpt integration since i already have the app and all the generative image stuff and “gen-mojis” doesnt interest me and priority notifications are not that exciting. If a real personal assistant is not there day one then ill just wait.

If they don’t launch substantial AI features with the 16, as an investor, I’d be concerned. Maybe not every feature, but nothing was really so intricate that they couldn’t get it done by September.
Investors have far too much influence these days. They’re usually way behind social and consumption trends. This is usually not to the advantage of consumers.
Great move, getting the Ai bubble money with chat gpt for free without actually having skin in the game when it eventually pops. Apple knows too much about copyright to get itself in this mess.
I’m not anti AI. I use ChatGPT. The app. On my iPhone. Without Apple Intelligence. But I also hate emojis and am perfectly capable of writing emails and planning my day without help.
I llke the new Notes features, integration between the calendar and reminders. But it’s still hard to add the details in an email to my calendar. I might actually start using Siri. Someday.
What’s confusing is what’s an AI feature and what’s not. How are some of the AI features going to be handled across devices if some of those devices are supported and others aren’t? Will the mailbox on my M2 Mac look different on my unsupported iPhone? What features will work on my new Apple Watch?
To try to sale a new iPhone will be hard for apple, google pixel phone will sale better - they have a smart ai os and the phone is cheap.
Thats true. But historically, google does a bad job with consumer oriented devices. Since it isn’t their business model to cater to consumers (non-enterprise). When they do, it’s normally for diversification, public relations (they become android rather than a hidden data collection company)… i loved my first gen pixel phone but its microphone disconnected after 2 years due to bad soldering. To be honest, holding the device itself, it was clearly supposed to be a test subject/experiment. Second generation had display issues. And it seemed that almost every generation since has had hardware and software issues, simply due to the lack of care given by google. Not to mention the company culture of google and the fact that we can’t call it privacy concern with them. Since there’s nothing to be concerned about. They have it all. All of our data. Scanning through all the photos in our photos app. Collecting data which can be more valuable than gold or oil. Edit: seeing their latest ai announcement event really highlights their amateur/reckless standards for marketing and presentation. Comparing their super important AI event for investors (letting them know they have caught up) to the recent apple wwdc is quite interesting. I can watch the entire wwdc event because of how smooth and engaging it is. I was tired but I promise I fell asleep a few times while skipping through google’s one. And came out with zero information. All i came out with was ai, ai, ai, 100 new trademark names of services which will suck and be deleted in 2 years but abandoned in 2 months. After watching an hour or longer video (and I’m interested in tech and ai). Google still hasn’t unified RCS on devices with its own platform and to the best of my knowledge, its the only platform which provides encrypted RCS messaging (if others do, I don’t think they connect with google’s encrypted rcs and so are a different standard entirely). I remember google hangouts, duo, google chat and so many others all created and destroyed like pet projects. I think because thats exactly what they were. Android is to google what Xbox and surface is to microsoft. To the public, its 100% who they are. To Microsoft, its the non-profit public relations and diversification part of the business.
Not upgrading my iPhone 13 Pro until next year anyway. Do AI the right way Apple love it.
Apple’s AI will roll out over years. Just as everyone else.
I think after Elons Tweets they are scared.
An opportunity to tell those who spend a fortune on iPhone 16’s that it won’t work on their phones and they’ll now need to buy an iPhone 17. The staged rollout isn’t the issue it’s the forcing the new hardware. Meanwhile everyone who has even a current iPhone 15 will continue to have crap Siri that is completely useless.

well it was a good thing until you hear about people returning there m4 iPad pro because of IPadOS i agree them the softwear features was little and not worth my time at all but im going to get the iPad pro with the m1 or the 2018 iPad pro because i dont care plus AI was not on my wish list even those who didn’t ask for AI

Apple is becoming the quintessential clickbate I️ have had Apple since it was a 5 1/4 floppy keyboard and black and white tv. They have been super underwhelming past five years. I️ just dropped $2300 on a 13 in m4 iPad and especially upgraded the ram to 16gb and 1tb drive because you get the unbinned chip. Only to see as reviews have show a 12% improvement over a iPad Pro $1000 cheaper. I️ figured ipados 18 would unlock the power of the full m4 chip. Nada. The biggest feature was a better calculator. I upgraded to 15 Pro for Ai and there was a sale I couldn’t say no to. Seeing them take until 2025 to add all features is a big let down and makes me think Apple will be left behind. All these companies have had so much real world data and experiences to learn what not to do. Apple can spend years on something, any company, but until it reaches real world use, it’s all hearsay, back room tests.
