- Shufai is playing with the wood wool, beating his chest and putting it on his head. If you know his grandma Biddy, you know she loves her wood wool as well and she comes over to see what her grandson is up to. They're having a play and even when Shufai beats his little chest at her , she takes it all at her stride. She even pulls Shufai towards her again when he stopped playing. They both stop when Oumbi, the silverback walks past.

I always feel a bit exasperated when I see gorillas fixing and rearranging the straw bed endlessly. I feel like saying to Sufai, “it’s perfect, really, just lie down on it already!” But he and Biddi were so cute.
Shufai's is hilarious when he beats his chest at Biddy and stops to see what Biddy would do😘😄 of course Oumbi has to walk by and make sure everyone is behaving. Nothing to see here Oumbi I'm just teaching my grandson how to make a bed😇😇😇

I don't recall seeing many videos where Biddy initiates stationary/sitting time with Lope. I mostly remember running, poking, harassing, teasing, followed by some grandmotherly chastising so this feels like a lovey change. (although, for all I know, this is me more normal + frequent interaction behavior than the one in the videos I've just happened to watch...)

I'm not a tree hugger. But when I see all the huge heaps of wood wool in hundreds of zoo videos, I look through the comments in search of outcries by people who are vehement anti-deforestation enthusiasts. I have yet to find such a comment.
Meanwhile, I am very curious. I do wonder what species of trees England is cutting down and stripping off the bark and branches from to create this consistently white wood wool.
