      _”Harvey… No.”_
Kevin Conroy’s line delivery was so fitting! 😢
Unless my memory is playing tricks on me, at that point in the series we hadn’t yet seen this incredible iteration of Batman lose his shit.
Which made Batman’s heart wrenching breakdown over a mortally wounded Commissioner Gordon in _I Am The Night_ even more poignant!
Disclaimer: I could be mixing up the order here. If so, I apologize. Back to my original point…
Which is to say that I think that was the only reaction Bruce Wayne would allow himself to have while donning his Cape and Cowl.

people often focus on how "Bruce Wayne" is Batman's mask and not the other way around, which is cool and true, but TAS made much of the bat-lore we take for granted and people always seem to forget how Bruce Wayne was often there to pick up the pieces after Batman's vigilantism.

I always loved the BTAS version of Two-Face, because it always managed to show that good side of Harvey Dent still alive in there. There was always that hope that he could be saved, and seeing him speak fondly to Bruce at the end of the episode is just heartbreaking.

      @christopherauzenne5023 ปีที่แล้ว +3

that is sorta the point of two-face, a lot of the great batman villains are meant to reflect some aspect of bruce/batman's character. Also, I feel another part of what made this show so great was that they did did let bruce wayne be a character, too many batman media just treat him as an afterthought or just front for batman and the end result is that he comes of as an emotionless, almost sociopathic robot. He needs bruce wayne to show his humanity through episodes like this and many others

One of the most "Harsher in Hindsight" moments in this story, that also, doubles as something heartwarming. When Bruce and Dick walk together at the end just after the touching moment between Harvey and Bruce. Later, as this "Bat-May" run continues this month. Everyone will witness the falling out, and complete differences that destroy the two's friendship in years to come. It always made me cry acknowledging that this was one of many few loving moments between Batman and Robin as friends.

I love Two-Face as a character in general, so seeing more episodes diving into his foibles is always a good time for me indeed. Batman having to fight a battle on two fronts - wanting to save Bruce's friend as well as recover a victim and stop a villain for the Dark Knight - brings richer layers into the episode, making what could have been an entertaining story into a great, insightful one.

Like Walter I've always been disappointed that Harvey never got a true 'happy ending' in BTAS (like the surgery to repair his face actually happening, or at least him being freed from the Big Bad Harv personality once and for all); but for what we did get, I thought this episode was a great send-off for the character & his deep history with Bruce/Batman. That final scene of Harvey (with only his 'good side' in the light) thanking Bruce for never giving up on him is just so powerful & beautifully done.

Funny thing is, this WAS the beginning of the end for Two-Face. Although Harvey returned to crime after this episode, he did try to get rid of Two-Face once and for all - and came very close to succeeding - in the very last episode of this series, "Judgment Day." I won't spoil the ending of that one, but I do hope we get a review of it at the end of this month.
That said, I did enjoy this episode, partly because it's always fun when multiple villains show up. John Vernon as Rupert Thorne and Paul Williams as the Penguin were two of the very best voice actors on this show. I feel that Vernon, who was also in NATIONAL LAMPOON'S ANIMAL HOUSE and KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE, never got his proper due as a character actor. And Williams, despite being primarily known as a songwriter, embodied what I still consider my favorite version of the Penguin. This series retained everything about Danny DeVito's performance that worked and discarded all that didn't, and the results were magical.

Far as I know this is the only continuity of Batman that really gives a lot depth to old Harvey. Each of his outings are solid and he has such a way of planning out his crimes he's one of the most successful the Batman villains as well beyond just the number 2 gimmick

thats why this is still my favorite version of bruce/batman, both sides show that despite everything Bruce/Batman is a good man doing what he can to help others. i mean even the Big bad Harv side of Two-Face seems to appreciate how Bruce is always there and never gives up on them

If you think about it, Bruce and Harvey have pretty similar situations; Both have two different identities, a light and a dark side, and both are in a constant balancing act to ensure one identity doesn't overtake the other! It's no wonder that they're good friends!
It also makes sense why Harvey made a good candidate to take up the Batsuit mantle in the comics that one time!

Hands down, this is my favorite reform episode of Batman TAS. It addresses Bruce's friendship with both Harvey and Dick. I also love the mystery element of this episode. As a child, I thought Rupert Thorne was behind the kidnapping, and then scolding myself for not figuring out who it really was.

You know I legit wonder how the series would've gone had they not stopped making Two part episodes. Some of the best in the series were Two Parters and I feel like we might've missed out on some good stories had they made them longer and given them enough breathing room.

This was a great review! I found out the Two Face saga goes on in the Batman Adventures Comic book series. I know this is the last year of Bat-May but do you think you'd want to start reviewing the tie-in comic books after this?

I can only imagine how much it must hurt Bruce to see Harvey reduced to this. He wants to help him, he wants to make him better, but he CAN'T. And so long as Two-Face is more interesting to writers and audiences as a supervillain, he never will.

When I watched this episode for the 1st time, I was praying that Harvey will be back. But seeing he did this himself, I said in Batman's voice "Noooooo" I like this episode a lot and I convinced it the finale to Harvey "Two-Face " Dent arch.
