Well I prefer the Mask of the Phantasm take on the Joker origin because they said that this was last year but he’s been operating for years which doesn’t sense and wouldn’t they figure out who the Joker’s true identity is, when Joker is about to make Mighty Mum it reminds me of this episode in the Batman 2004 episode where Joker uses the Pizza delivery disguise and also Ratpack reminds ya of those gun wielding postmen and also that his last name is Loomis which you think they should have brought in Oswald Loomis aka the Prankster for Superman TAS and say that he is related to each other.
Lisa Lorraine was primarily based on Roseanne and Lisa Lampenelli having a similar name was purely coincidence since she wasn't even a known comedian until a decade later
I really didn't like this one, although I admit I haven't watched it in years. The reason it doesn't work for me is because in this animated universe, Joker was a mobster like in the Burton film. There's nothing to suggest that he had any interest in stand-up comedy. Also, the episode made him look too buffoonish.
Poor Mad Hatter. The Joker's attack left him so f*cked up that, when he woke up from his coma, his body had aged 40 years and lost five feet in height 🤣🤣🤣
after a quick google search * that or it was supposed to be the other mad hatter later who in the comics claimed he was jervis tetch the mad hatter and was the basis for the adam west 1966 batman series' version as it was before he was revealed to be a fake but as i can't find anything in my search that confirms that that's just a theory
I never thought of it before, but the whole microchip-on-the-neck thing flows nicely into his ultimate scheme in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. I don't know if that was intentional, but I like this idea that this scheme and technology would become a long-term project for him to achieve a sort of immortality.
This is a very Adam West Joker Plot. Literally you could see Cesar Romero doing this on the old show to some old comedians from the 1930s who were guest stars.
i love this episode, joker’s not out to mass murder or prove some stupid point, he’s just petty and wants a trophy from a competition he didn’t enter early enough
I mean even if they wanted to portray him as murederer, they coudn't do that because it's still a kid friendly show. We can see in arkham asylum and city what Paul Dini can really do with Joker.
@@Vadim_Slastihin I mean, in Harlequinade, he did try to nuke Gotham with everyone inside it just for the heck of it, even preventing the Mayor from calling for an evacuation The show has definitely shown off the Joker's murderous tendencies, but as you said, it's a kid-friendly show, so to get around the censors the writers either made it so that the Joker's attacks were non-lethal (The Laughing Fish) or ambiguous enough to say "nah, they're fine"... ... Mask of the Phantasm on the other hand... they pulled no punches with that one-
Stupid point? Stupid point? Do you really think the philosophical argument at the core of the dark knight was just him trying to prove a “stupid point”? Holy shit you’re a midwit
Mark Hamill's Joker is iconic, his laugh is so ingrained in my brain, I can hear it even when I read a Batman-comic, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Laughed when they brought back Condiment King in the Lego Batman movie. 😂 Lego Pilot: Are any of those villains real? Lego Joker: Oh yes, they're real. Worth the Google search.
Fun fact: John Glover who voiced the ridder for batman the animated series. He said that line, "Dying is Easy, Comedy is Hard" in an episode of the 1980's Twilight Zone revival series entitled "A Small Talent For War".
Yes even in Batman Arkham Asylum: A Serious House On Serious Earth I can hear Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, Tom Kane, and Troy Baker as Batman, Joker, Commissioner Gordon/Armedaus Arkham, and Harvey Dent/Two-Face
I could've sworn that Mighty Mom was a fever dream. The episode "Make 'Em Laugh" is always an entertaining watch that did make me chuckle once or twice. The reveal of the Joker was so slick it made my eyes widen in surprise
My favorite moment is when Batman pulls down Joker's pants while saving him from falling, leaving him being arrested while exposing polka dot boxers to an amused crowd. I love that not only does the Clown Prince feel humiliated by being laughed at for once but that the signiature scene is later referenced in Batman Beyond.
I love this episode, from Batman's "it's going to be one of those nights..." line after hearing there was a crook armed with a ketchup gun to the entire crowd of people finally laughing at Joker and him hating every second of it
6:20 *Fun fact:* Speaking of "The Killing Joke", the Elseworld comic "In Darkest Night" show us an alternate outcome of the Joker's origin, as, in this reality, Bruce became a Green Lantern during the events of "Year One" and used his powers to stop Red Hood and his two henchmen before the worst could happen, thus avoiding the creation of the Joker. The Red Hood then tells Bruce he had a really bad day, to which the Green Lantern Bruce replies that is no excuse for his crimes, because everyone has terrible days and yet most people know to deal with it, causing Hood to apoligize for his actions. It's a pretty interesting story
Joker while being arrested: "You don't understand! I just wanted to fulfill my life's dream of being a succesfull comedian! Before I went crazy I wanted to be one, you know?" Robin: "Yeah. Who wrote you the origin story this time, Jack? Alan Moore? *Everyone, except the Joker, laughs as the credits appear*
I also really just love THESE types of joker plots, the ones where it doesn't just boil down to killing people/commiting a horrid act but instead are ludicrous, dangerous and only there to either fuel joker's ego or be a bit for a joke
This episode was so goofy lol. The Pack Rat looked like if Chuck E. Cheese went on a rampage. Also with the Riddler reference, didn't the mascot on the bag of chips look like the Penguin?
Mark Hamill was born to play a comedian villain. Given he's also played the trickster twice in live action and in an animated cartoon series as well. Also interesting where the Penguin's face easter egg shown up.
Everyone got a massive downgrade after the classic ended. Except Scarecrow looked much scarier. But man everything else looked so cheap. And the cleverness and character depth lost a lot too.
The part where the Joker lands on the ground and is surrounded by cops drawing their guns on him reminds me of Eddie Murphy in Trading Places, especially when he says, "Is there a problem, officers?" 😂
7:05, this makes me wonder if Batman was handling two criminals in one week or (more likely) the commercial ended with someone else saying something like "Now 90% off at participating retail stores" with the owner trying to salvage his losses 😂
Fun continuity error: When Batman & Robin are watching the news report on the Condiment King, the headline of the newspaper Robin is holding reads "Rally To Be Held For Gordon." This newspaper headline was also used in, and refers to events of, the earlier episode "Shadow of the Bat."
I don’t think it’s a continuity error. I think it’s supposed to show that a lot of these other episodes/cases take place during the same time as others.
My favorite moment in this episode was when Batman told Condiment King to give the people their stuff back. He knew how pathetic he was, so pathetic, he punched him only once.
Another wonderful review! One of my favorite episodes for sure! I Will forever be thankful to the episode that gave us Condiment King! I always laugh when he says “You actually hit me!” Truly gives me the giggles! This is indeed a great episode to put on when I need a good laugh!
Jarvis Tech: *Ends up in a vegetative state* Robin: "Holy Nightmare, Batman! Tech is now a vegetable! Poor bastard!" Batman: "Don't worry, Robin. Maybe he's having a good dream now. Maybe he thinks that he's now with the parents he so desperately needed and married without a problem to a beautiful and seductive blonde woman whom he couldn't help but love despite her problems, unaware that it's all a lie created to further plunge him into misery. Are you having a good time, Jarvis? ARE YOU HAVING A GOOD TIME?!" Robin: "Someone here needs a vacation..."
I like that this kind of ties together with Return of the Joker, showing his use of those mind chips. He probably started tweaking that tech shortly after this episode.
I do find it funny how the Condiment King, who was created to be a joke villain in this show, and yet later appeared in the actual comic as a completely different character. Apparently in the comics, Condiment King's real name is Michael Mayo. What makes this more hilarious is that Pack Rat and Mighty Mom were also created as joke villains but didn't appear in the comics, at least as far as I'm aware.
@@OmnicidalClown1992 True as well alot of Batman b list characters never get the film treatment it's always freaking Joker I don't know why don't get me wrong but come on.

If I ever want to watch a really goofy and funny episode of my favorite Show of all time. I turn on this episode. Plus it gave us the best "No" Batman GIF
6:59 There was also another Easter egg in this episode. Earlier in this episode, Robin was holding a newspaper with the article about the rally for Commissioner Gordon from Shadow Of The Bat!
This lowkey forshadows Joker's technical knowledge and when he used a type of microchip to control and take over Robin in Batman Beyond: Revenge of the Joker
Batman: "Now listen Mustard Man - or whatever you can yourself - you're obviously new at this, so I'm willing to go easy on you; provided you give back the loot and don't even think about doing this again, deal?"
And probably our last plus size character design in the series. I'll unload on the change up when it happens. but this episode really highlights the early B:TAS character design. Giving you tall and short, wide and thin and everything in between. I understand the new design was to save money and streamline it, but it felt like a video game when every NPC has 4 bodies: male #1, male #2, female #1 and female #2.
Joker after knowing that his victim Condiment King ended up becoming the star of the episode and received the fame that the clown was looking for during the episode: "I went through all that f*cking planning, all of that f*cking research, I even wore my best damn suit and it still didn't get the results I hoped for! WHO WROTE THIS STORY?!"
I do admit i always thought the mighty mom part and always came up with a joke How a kids Mom who thinks she a superhero would overreact to small things like overpricing a entry to a movie or someone cutting in line and having the kids mom hide somewhere to become mighty mom leaving her son shocked and ashamed that his mom acting like a superhero not his dismay

This was a fun episode since it was less about “Joker trying to take over the city or get rich,” and more of a straight out revenge plot just so he can be crowned “funniest man in Gotham.” If Joker wasn’t as popular of a villain as he was, I could see this being his one off villain episodes. A comedian who was laughed off a stage (and not in a good way) and thus he dresses up as a clown while getting Mad Hatter to help him get his revenge while making those who made him look like a fool off as bad guys so that they know how he felt. Definitely a memorable episode. Mainly because condiment king was the only of the three to seemingly stick around (or at least the one of the three everyone remembers).
What better way to commemorate the Joker's final appearance on BTAS than an episode that illuminates his core personality? Batman: You've hit a new low, Joker. Only you would ruin three lives for a silly piece of tin. Joker: You're dumber than you look, Bats. It's not the trophy that matters, it's the title! I am the greatest clown this dismal burg has ever seen! Where would the good folk of Gotham be without my pranks and antics? Batman: Let's find out!
I just realized something; Joker using Jarvis' mind control chip technology here kinda predicts his later use of microchip technology on Tim Drake in Return of the Joker.
I remember as a kid I used to think that this was meant to be his origin, that the second time it was a disguise but the first time it was him before becoming Joker
The joker is clothing a very famous quote about comedy It was used in the Twilight Zone episode in the eighties which was very chilling. I like this episode I would've like to see in though the mad hatter and the joke are team up. That would have been interesting but you know how much the joker loves the attention
Some notes about the guest voices... Keen eared listeners might recognize Stuart Pankin (Buddy Standler/Condiment King) as the voice of Earl Sinclair, the patriarch from the ABC series Dinosaurs. Grant Shaud (Harry Loomis/The Pack Rat) portrayed Miles Silverberg on Murphy Brown. Andrea Martin (Lisa Lorraine/Mighty Mom) is an award-winning actress and comedienne with an extensive DCAU resume as well, most notably playing Mad Harriet in Superman the Animated Series. Richard Jeni (the host of the competition) is an actor and comedian, probably most recognized for his role of Charlie in The Mask alongside Jim Carrey.
Funny that his last name is Loomis because of this minor Superman villain called the Prankster whose real name is Oswald Loomis which I have suggested that Richard Pryor should have played in Superman 3 FanScription along with Gene Wilder as Toyman if they wanted to go the comedy route
I'd say one of the important things a comedian needs to learn is how to give a joke with grace, and how to take a joke with grace. Because, and correct me if I'm wrong about this, from what I've seen The Joker could never take a joke directly aimed at him!
This episode wone me over with "ketchup gun" and "It's gonna be one of THOSE nights." And once again, Batman offers a costumed criminal a way out, but out of pity.
I think the first time i was introduced to the condiment king through a lego game. I can't remember which one, but to find him here is still baffling to this day
I'm wondering if Mighty Mom's "Momma spank!" bit was a reference to how some of the earliest Batman adventures had 'comical' scenes of characters being spanked. They've become a rich source of memes and "LOL Golden Age Batman was nuts" bits online.
Condiment King after being defeated: "Well, at least we had a good time..." Batgirl: "A good time?! YOU LEFT MY SUIT FILLED WITH KETCHUP!!" Condiment King: "Sorry, Batgirl. I didn't expect that to bother you. After all, you do like having substances expelled all over your body, right, Batman?" 😉 Batman: "Robin, tell the sheriff to call an ambulance" *Cracks his knuckles* Condiment King: "So it's a yes..."
They use to show Batman on Fox 5 around 4:00 or 4:30 every afternoon back in the 90's, man I couldn't wait to get home from school to watch that show... fuck homework, ma, Im watching batman! 😂
The Condiment King was the last name mentioned in the obscure Batman villains who the Joker lists in The Lego Batman Movie, before assuring us that they're all real and "might be worth a Google."
7:03. In another possible Easter Egg, the chip mascot on the bag kind of looks like the Penguin. Its probaby meant to be MrPEanut-but it does match Penguin’s color scheme.

3:41 Unfortunately for Robin the caneras were still rolling, which he only learned when he returned to Titans Tower.
Bet Starfire would honestly be a bit jealous that Mighty Mom got to spank Robin. I know I am :p
I see joker with his pants down and i cant help but think of the story joker told harley in the asylum when he tried to make his father laugh
Joker: "I'm the greatest clown this dismal burg has ever seen!"
I just also noticed that the bag of chips has the Penguin's 🐧 face on it.
You're not alone. Rosanne was literally the first person that popped in my mind when I saw that Lisa character.
Oh yeah
7:06 The Penguin's chips brand 🤣
Yeah I started to notice that
Some notes about the guest voices...
The pack rat sequence, the music I never heard something so weird sounding especially that weird mooing noise that plays in some parts of it.
I love the Roseanne reference and of course the GREATEST BATMAN FOE who should definitely be in the Reaves verse movie CONDIMENT KING!!!
7:06/ Another hidden Easter egg... look at the logo on the potato chips. Looks an awful lot like The Penguin! I mean, fish and chips, anyone?😂
MAN!
This was an amazing episode!
So much fun!
What I've seen so far in your videos (I skipped most of the red sky season), the Joker's redesign is sadly one of the better.
I'd say one of the important things a comedian needs to learn is how to give a joke with grace, and how to take a joke with grace. Because, and correct me if I'm wrong about this, from what I've seen The Joker could never take a joke directly aimed at him!
That's what was pointed out in the Batman Beyond movie.
"Yeah...."
Well said.
This episode wone me over with "ketchup gun" and "It's gonna be one of THOSE nights." And once again, Batman offers a costumed criminal a way out, but out of pity.
I also really love that Condiment King appears in Lego DC Supervillains.
This is my favorite Joker episode of the show
I think the first time i was introduced to the condiment king through a lego game. I can't remember which one, but to find him here is still baffling to this day
At least this is less dark than the Joker movie XD
I'm wondering if Mighty Mom's "Momma spank!" bit was a reference to how some of the earliest Batman adventures had 'comical' scenes of characters being spanked. They've become a rich source of memes and "LOL Golden Age Batman was nuts" bits online.
One of my favorite All-time #BatmanTAS episodes.
Condiment King is the ultimate villain
At first I thought the Joker was using makeup 💄 to paint his crayon white skin fresh colored, but no it was a rubber mask!
I also figured Rosanne for "Mighty Mom" in this episode; reference 4:18 . I was not familiar with the other comedienne when I first saw this episode.
I love this episode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE The Condiment King
I keep imagining redesigns of him where he’s like a mob boss who owns his own restaurant chain hence the tasty name
I always thought Condiment King and the others came from the Adam West show.
Condiment King after being defeated: "Well, at least we had a good time..."
Batgirl: "A good time?! YOU LEFT MY SUIT FILLED WITH KETCHUP!!"
Condiment King: "Sorry, Batgirl. I didn't expect that to bother you. After all, you do like having substances expelled all over your body, right, Batman?" 😉
Batman: "Robin, tell the sheriff to call an ambulance" *Cracks his knuckles*
Condiment King: "So it's a yes..."
I liked this episode very much. My favorite brainwashed comic was Mighty Mom.
It was just amazing to see Robin being taken over the knee by Mighty Mom and getting a good portion spanking from her!
If there's anything the Joker hates more than being robbed of the chance to kill Batman, it's being told he's not funny.
The mind-control chips would make a comeback in a big way in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.
7:03. In another possible Easter Egg, the chip mascot on the bag kind of looks like the Penguin. Its probaby meant to be MrPEanut-but it does match Penguin’s color scheme.
5:06 is just hillarious...bruceis like "oh no" here we go again
Bat May, Day 5
The Criminal The Comedian but no Clown😢
I loved all the joker episodes!😆
