    I had one of these about 6 years ago, had 45k on the clock and paid £7k for it. Its the most enjoyable car I have ever owned. Certainly not the fastest but the enjoyment of that rev limiter puts a smile on your face every time you plant the throttle. Fairly lairy in the wet though, the rear was very tail happy. I hadn't driven one before and when on the test drive, I went to shift up at 6k and the salesman stuck his hand on mine and wouldn't let me until I hit 8.5k revs. At that point he made the sale, there was no way I wasn't buying it

    I think peeps are buying "bucket list" cars before we all go electric and lock down has freed unused Holiday money. My convertibles and 4X4s have gone up in value since 2020 lockdown. The mundane stuff... Focus, Golf etc.. isn't doing so well and a lot of local cars are not selling.

    I did 6.2 and 14.7 qt mile in my stock one last week. The best way to launch the car is from 2k rpms progressively pressing the pedal as fast as possible but not all the way down right away. Losing grip while starting 4k+ is costly for times even if it feels faster.

  • @ironingbored
    @ironingbored 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The price increases could be linked to Supply/demand, the plans for 2030, the silicon chip shortage (meaning longer delivery times on new performance cars). Also I think a lot of the cars from the 00's were 'old' but now people consider them classics, particularly since they represent the last in NA's, manuals, bigger displacements, less tech-heavy. You could consider them more in line with the 'purist' appeal. So even something like an E46 330i manual which has that appeal, is going upward!

    Calvin, The other S2000. The one you passed in the video. That wasn't an AP2 as you said, common mistake of a lot of people that think that the facelift car is an AP2. It isn't, it has nothing to do with the facelift. AP2 cars were sold in the US and they had a 2.2 engine with a rev limit at 8.300. But this was never sold in Europe (and Asia). All european S2000's are AP1's. You as a car merchant should know that?

About the UK market, I understand that there are imports, but by driving by a facelift S2000 you can't tell it's an AP2. I guess that there are still plenty more faceliftedd AP1's in the UK than imported F22C engine cars (AP2). And you can't see it from the outside. What I wanted to mention was that it is a common mistake to name the facelifted version an AP2, because it is not. It is the engine that makes the difference between an AP1 and AP2.

    Over here the prices of the MX5 NA are gone mad. Not exactly a car of which only 4 were produced. Last year you could find many for €1500, but now prices start at €5000 for a decent one.
    S2000 asking prices go well over €20.000 here and it's simple to find a +€30.000 one.
    Try to find a Honda Integra R first gen

    All this lockdown nonsense, people can't go on holidays, now the suns out and the markets gone mental everyones after a new toy for the summer and all the sports cars or just generally quick cars have flown up in value, specially convertibles as they usually do this time of year. Nice tan Calv!

All these promises of winning these cars and nothing. You cant blame people for feeling mugged off. Calvin, PLEASE respond to this my man 🙏🏻 I have been saving up for a house for several years now and have a decent bit saved up. I’ve been a petrol head all my life but due to saving for a house I’ve never been able to buy a performance car that I’ve always dreamed of. Let’s say I bought a 2017/18 F80 M3 Competition with low mileage for roughly 40k and then was to sell it when I was to buy a house, how much do you think I would lose on it? For some context I would likely be keeping it anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, wouldn’t use it as a daily and only use it at weekends so mileage would be fairly low and I would keep it immaculate. I know you can’t give me an exact figure but ROUGHLY how much do you think I would lose if I kept it for say 1-2 years? Would I still get 30-33k in the future? I figured cause you’re such a petrol head yourself and you also buy and sell cars for a living, you’d be the PERFECT man to ask! Thanks man, much appreciated! 👍🏻

    I like these s2000. However, the road tax on them is just stupidly expensive. I just sold my second car/spare car because it was costing me about £500 a year just to keep it road legal and I wasn’t even using it that much. Having a car in the garage like this s2000 basically just for summer costing me over £500 just in road tax, no tanks.

    • @squicker
      @squicker 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 54/55 MYs are half the road tax of the later years. The 'goldilocks' models are 54/55 because they are facelifted but still the cheap road tax fee (I think mine was £280 a year and it's MY55), as are all the non-facelift cars.
