Thanks Katie for being ridiculously careful with our orders. 🤓. So far I haven't put a pen in the wash, of course I check pockets because my husband tends to leave money in his pockets, I put all those collected funds into my pen budget. lol. 🖋

Way back in the day (1960s) I accidentally put my Parker 45 in the wash. Thanks to Parker build quality it still writes and thanks to washable Quink the clothes were ok.

Howdy, Katie. Good to meet another member of the shipping team!
To answer your question: YES, I have put a fountain pen through my laundry. It was a Kaweco AL Sport (tumbled blue -- I guess you could now say: "twice-tumbled"). I didn't notice it in the laundry until after it began clanging around in the dryer. Surprisingly, it remained completely intact and leaked no ink!! The cap had some ink in it from the tumbling, but nothing contaminated the laundry!

Thank you Katie for the ridiculous care you take in packing our stuff!! I love the lollys! I was happy to see the Petit Pilot, my sister gave me one on Xmas and it is the best fountain pen to use with fast drying inks!! I love the "purplish blue" (can you say that?) of Kung Te Chen, but I could not use it in my Pilot Décimo, in seconds it dried on the nib. However, the seal this Petit Pilot has allows me to use it and the ink is always ready to flow! Thanks for the reviews and .... write on!

I accidentally put my pilot custom 823 in my sleeve in my coat and I didn't take it out when I washed it. I ruined my Aston sleeve but Pilots are built like tanks so I only had to clean it out and it was fine I mean broad. # broadsarethebest

Thank you Katie for all the work you & the team do to get us our pens and things!!! I appreciate it!!!! I too love pocket pens - my newest pocket pen that I really love is the Moonman Wancia Mini. I carry a Pilot Petite 1 around all the time too! Oh, and I'm really love the notifications that come from Shopify - that is really going to help me keep track of when an order is out for delivery etc which is just awesome!!!!!

I love Pocket Fountain Pens, and while I have many Kaweco Sport Pens, the Kaweco AL Sport Stone Wash Black Denim and Blue Denim (among others) I find a little too heavy - I have a light hand, and the heaviest I can stand and write well with, are the TWSBI Mini's - the TWSBI Vac Mini is just a wee bit heavy, but the balance is so good that I still love using them. Other than that, I have the Pilot Petit's in all colours. They're lovely and light. And I'm waiting for my Black Passoporto to arrive now and introduce to my Pocket FP 'family'. Thanks for sharing your collection Kate, pockets are great! Thanks to you also Brian.

Yes I have “washed” my pens many times some ink comes out if you spray right away and rewash. Don’t dry the clothes that sets the ink! I always have a Kaweco plastic or brass in my pocket.. I love taking out a fountain pen when I have to sign something!

Mine too. Burgundy/champagne (I know, I know, everyone calls it ivory, but it looks champagne to me). I just love the E95s. I use an Aston leather holder, and just put it in my pants pocket.

I'm sure you will like it. Its such a smooth writer (mine is a medium, a fairly wet writer). I have it loaded with De Atramentis Elderberries which is a great complement to the burgundy color. The only pen I have tried that's smoother is my sons Pilot Custom 823 which he says is like writing on oiled glass. It is. Few pens are sexier looking than the E95s, and the smoothness of uncapping and posting it is a pleasure.

Thank you, Katie, for all of the work you do! I recently bought the Traveller's pen and I love it. I've been keeping it in my pocket ever since. I keep it in my wallet pocket, rather than my keys pocket, so it doesn't get as dinged up, but it is still getting a nice worn look to it. I have the same Nock case as Katie for my pens. I'm such a big fan of their cases! It fits in my bag nicely and stores quite a bit, while keeping my pens protected.

Katie is my pen soulmate. Give me a good pocket pen that's like carrying a small boulder and I'm a happy pen addict. I like'em so heavy that they basically just sit in my hand without having to really grip. It's definitely not a common preference, though, so it's hard to find many good ones.
I haven't put a pen through the wash yet, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

I was totally shocked to get a tootsie pop in a shipment that I received from The Pen Outpost. The Goulet Pen Co. was the first place that I ran across this tootsie pop phenomenon and after buying some products not offered by Goulet, I saw the tootsie pop inside the package. I thought this could not be a coincidence...The Pen Outpost out of Mandeville, LA obviously got the idea from Goulet. Hey, whatever works. Write On!

Nice to meet you Katie. My favorite pocket pen is the Pilot Prera, the nib is smooth and the Prera always writes immediately, no hard starts. The only drawback is the Con40 converter, I can't get it to fill more than half way. So I use Brian's hack and fill a cartridge using a syringe instead.

Karas Kustoms has some very lovely EDC and pocket pens coming out soon, too (Reaktor line up).
Great to know Kaweco Al Sports switched to Jowo! A beautiful pocket pen : )
I love how air tight the seal on the TWSBI's are when capped. You can tell by twisting the piston when capped (no ink) and feel the resistance from air not escaping.

Huge thank you to Katie and the rest of the fulfillment team for their dedication and hard work. You all rock!
I have a question: what exactly defines a pocket pen? Is it simply a diminutive size?
I only have one that I know is a pocket pen, an orange Montegrappa Micra. I have a couple smaller size pens as well, but don’t know if they technically are “pocket pens”.
Anyway, great collection, Katie! It was very nice to see you.

I've only ever washed one pen with my clothes, it was when I was really new to fountain pens, a few years ago now, I left a pilot metro with noodler's hunter green in my pocket when I washed it. Luckily, the only item of clothing to get inked was a raggedy old shirt with holes in it, somehow, the pen made its way out of the jeans, and got all wrapped up in that shirt before the cap came off. The biggest loss of the event was the flimsy metro clip, it got wrapped up in the shirt and got bent at almost a 90 degree angle from the cap. I was able to bend it back, but it was never the same again.

As an avid hiker myself Two of my closest friends actually got the hiking backpacks that you can put babies and toddlers in. I have a photo hiding somewhere showing it in use, was much better of a situation that I expected and highly recommend them, for people who regularly hike. You're spending the same money on a pack so if you're not using it, it is probably a waste of $. Which reminds me I need to contact your group and talk about robust pens for hiking this winter along with how resilient the freeze resistant inks are.

    • @Gouletpens

Thank you! Katie - Nice small collection and that pen carrier is nice! It's nice seeing a different "genera" of pens collected together. This video made me think - I am visual person much like many others and I commonly have a hard time converting pen numerical dimensions into reality. Have you considered adding a photo to each pen comparing it to something consistent in size such as a dollar bill? Keep the videos coming and "write on!" haha

Not exactly comparing pens to one single object, but our Pen Plaza (www.gouletpens.com/pages/pen-plaza ) has images of every pen we carry open/closed/posted so you can compare those to pens you're more familiar with. - Colin
