I really hope there's a 1st Recon Battalion series for the Iraq War, just like there's one for Easy Company. But maybe 1st Recon didn't get in enough combat for the series to be fun
@@TheMikebro784 I know that. HBO did Band of Brothers and Easy Company got an Operations Room series too. I was saying maybe the same could happen to 1st Recon.
@@TheMikebro784 But those were the USMC, the 1st MEC, the majority of the battle operations that ended the regime were carried by the third US Army division, like Karbala, Karbala Gap, Najaf, and all the southern pincer, the Marines were behind schedule, something that had an effect into the Mattis-Dowdy affair.
This whole operation just shows how soviet tanks are better. If it was a T-72, it would have rapidly disassembled at the first RPG hit, making a risky rescue operation unnecessary
Interesting to see how permissive this environment still was - in Ukraine any such recovery wouldn't have worked, omnipresent ISR drones, artillery, extensive mine fields and FPV drones would simply not allow it. Hell, looking at some early Leo 2 and Bergepanzer 2 ARV losses it seems that this was a hard learned lesson.
I've recently been watching your work. Very impressive and aids what I have a lot of difficulty explaining, especially to those that haven't experienced this. I'm anticipating further videos especially from the First Fusiliers Battle Group to which I was with in Op Telic 1.
Since I know that a lot of people have been chomping at the bit to get 'my take' on this, here it goes: The Operations Room is the finest military documentary source outside of getting an actual intelligence brief. Brits are known for being concise and clearly understandable when they present information in a military setting (most of the time). Another great presentation, you keep me Craving for more! Also, Stuntcawk and The Operations Room are both bad asses for an additional reason. The first for a hardcore name and the latter for having the huevos enough to post their comment!
Anyone armour trained knows REME A Mechs are indispensable, they are clinical surgeons of the armoured arena. That said, the SCOTS DG's and the Royal Marines are legends unto themselves. There also can't be many MBT's capable of sustaining 14 RPG's let alone a Milan hit and be working at all, let alone 72 hours later. We may be super poor when it comes to funding, but there's no one finer to go to war with than the Brits. GSTK
@@simonbrown4284 my sincere apologies. I know how important this kind of detail is, it was not done intentionally. Thank you for the correction. Edited.

This channel is getting better and better. I'd be happy to watch it all day but as a tiny contribution I'll first set up an account on Conflict of Nations! Huge fan of your work!
There are some videos floating about dispelling the myth of the tanks invincibility. 8 RPG hits and 1 ATGM hit, and it took 4 days to get the tank back in action. Regardless this is still impressive, and you're work and presentation are awesome as always.
Now I realized the part where they have to rescue the stranded tank was probably inspiration for The Bog from COD4. It was night time, corrosive green tinted night visions, firefight around a stranded tank in a Middle Eastern city, the rescue by fire support. The details lined up pretty well even though IW changed the combatants for the sake of a fictional plot.
The REME engineers (different from RE) I think, got Mentions In Dispatches. Cpl Garrett unfortunately succumbed to PTSD and sadly became a casualty in the years afterwards.
Both Cpl J Garrett and Cpl J Symmons both got mentioned in despatches even though they did a lot more than that what is told here. I had the honour of serving with them both in The SCOTS DG
I'll be honest, I've been finding the Gulf War / Iraq stuff slightly harder to find engaging compared to say the WW2 videos, just for how incredibly one-sided they are. When one side takes literally no casualties it doesn't even feel like a battle at all, just a slaughter on conscripts who didnt even want to be there (Not to mention the entire war was waged on a lie anyway) That said tho, the entire saga of trying to get that tank out that ditch was fascinating and honestly I was enthralled. I can't believe I even felt satisfied when they finally got it out. Well done boys.
A one sided slaughter is still less deaths than a hard fought battle. Also, I still can’t imagine how the info on wmds was wrong/untrue when the leader of the Iraqi forces in this video is nicknamed after his use of said wmds.
All those RPGs...and everyone returns WITHOUT DAMAGE. I mean, without deaths, without wounded, without disabled vehicles--any one of those would already be considered a great success. But without even damage?? That's insane.

I really hope there's a 1st Recon Battalion series for the Iraq War, just like there's one for Easy Company. But maybe 1st Recon didn't get in enough combat for the series to be fun
I believe it's called Generation Kill but I suppose it could be about 2nd or 3rd recon bn
Sarcasm at its finest😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah soviet tank better, thay have turret ejection sistem to save the crew at the last moment
Nonono it would not dissasemble, rather different parts of the tank would be repositioned through the battlefield as to spread the enemy's defenses
Had me for a sec there
Interesting to see how permissive this environment still was - in Ukraine any such recovery wouldn't have worked, omnipresent ISR drones, artillery, extensive mine fields and FPV drones would simply not allow it.
I have just discovered your channel. Now I gotta go back and watch the rest of your videos. Nice!
Check out the band of brothers segment.
@@sector986 will do!
This was a very, very interesting video. Just like every other damn video on this channel! Its so good, job well done.
Incredible. I always learn something new.
No, you don't. Just Western propaganda. They will never tell you that Saddam was their own creation. And that they kept him in power for decades.
Dámn man your animation is improving rapidly
Since I know that a lot of people have been chomping at the bit to get 'my take' on this, here it goes:
The Operations Room is the finest military documentary source outside of getting an actual intelligence brief.
GSTK
That said,
th-cam.com/users/shortsBmc9NFfhx74?si=vl3FWz6tIRfTb8rW
It's SCOTS DG not Scott's DG's
@@simonbrown4284 my sincere apologies. I know how important this kind of detail is, it was not done intentionally. Thank you for the correction.
Edited.
Great work done! Those OIF battle analysis videos are great, for understanding how modern warfare is fought. Detailed and technically/militarily competent presentation.
This channel is getting better and better. I'd be happy to watch it all day but as a tiny contribution I'll first set up an account on Conflict of Nations! Huge fan of your work!
You make the best military history videos on the internet. Keep up the great work it always makes me super excited seeing a new video posted
Just realizing this is the OG COD modern warfare mission halfway through the video
War Pig?
@@Finduszip12 yep
I served in the US Army in OIF. I did 3 separate years in Iraq. I'm eagerly anticipating the mention of my unit.
My respects. Which unit?
TY for your service from an old veteran.
love how they enacted an entire rescue operation for one singular tank
He is back! I'm glad to see you back.
Great video, really interesting. Especially impressed with the engineers and the survivability of the Challenger 2 tank.
I could bet that while the GRAD was bombarding the base, that’s when the REME went and got the two extra men and the machine gun.
i seen this withing 30s of upload i was that hyped
The REME lad with the shotgun has the same energy as Thanos saying "Fine, I'll do it myself"
Excellent narration seemed like 5 minutes great story telling
Very glad you’re back and ok, Ops room
Guy at 3:38 lost his job on the Death Star but kept nifty Imperial helmet.
His Schwartz looks almost as big as mine.
There are some videos floating about dispelling the myth of the tanks invincibility. 8 RPG hits and 1 ATGM hit, and it took 4 days to get the tank back in action. Regardless this is still impressive, and you're work and presentation are awesome as always.
I very much enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Now I realized the part where they have to rescue the stranded tank was probably inspiration for The Bog from COD4. It was night time, corrosive green tinted night visions, firefight around a stranded tank in a Middle Eastern city, the rescue by fire support. The details lined up pretty well even though IW changed the combatants for the sake of a fictional plot.
I was thinking the same thing!
Tell me those Royal Engineers were given some of the highest awards. Those men were beyond heroes.
They weren't Royal Engineers, they were Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers - a different Corps (and capbadge)
Why do the Brit’s have cabbage for their engineers?
The REME engineers (different from RE) I think, got Mentions In Dispatches. Cpl Garrett unfortunately succumbed to PTSD and sadly became a casualty in the years afterwards.
Both Cpl J Garrett and Cpl J Symmons both got mentioned in despatches even though they did a lot more than that what is told here. I had the honour of serving with them both in The SCOTS DG
Great video, one of my favorites now. I be back to watch again
Im pretty sure i saw footage of the radio mast being brought down
I think it's this 1.

Man, this link should be pinned at the top. Documentary footage of the exact topic. Not too long for the attention span, either.
Never saw the channel. Thanks for the efforts, take my sub!
Operations Room uploaded!
The lesson learned from this first thunder run was, "don't stop".
At 3:36 Dark Helmet is seen fighting fearlessly for the Dark Side. The Rebel Alliance will be victorious! ⚔️
I WAITED SO LONG FOR THIS
New favorite channel.
Babe, wake up, new Operations Room just dropped
BABE WAKE UP. OPERATIONS ROOM HAS POSTED A NEW VIDEO. LET S GO BABBYYYYY
I love your work, thank you.
Worth the wait!
I'll be honest, I've been finding the Gulf War / Iraq stuff slightly harder to find engaging compared to say the WW2 videos, just for how incredibly one-sided they are. When one side takes literally no casualties it doesn't even feel like a battle at all, just a slaughter on conscripts who didnt even want to be there (Not to mention the entire war was waged on a lie anyway)
That said tho, the entire saga of trying to get that tank out that ditch was fascinating and honestly I was enthralled.
3:22 that’s a pretty badass picture!
Not gonna lie, I thought the tanks had the eye decals from War Thunder
A lot of British tanks do have eyes painted on the side at the front
More like the tanks from Warthunder have the eye decals from real tanks.
@@JG-ib7xk They would be WW2 Guards Armoured Division tanks
Yeah I can hardly pen challenger 2’s in war thunder when I’m in uptier they’re very H2K nicely done gentlemen awesome video
Wow, I was legitimately unsure if this channel had gone on a permanent hiatus.
Wow, great stuff mate.
Yes another Operations room update!
All those RPGs...and everyone returns WITHOUT DAMAGE. I mean, without deaths, without wounded, without disabled vehicles--any one of those would already be considered a great success. But without even damage?? That's insane.
This was excellent thank you😊
