Ty 4 posting this vid. Grandmaster Roc Raida one of the GOAT. We miss u everyday. We will forever carry the torch 4 u brutha. Much love to his family. Stay strong.
Roc was one of the Greatest to ever touch vinyl. I was blessed to be amongst the best when I released Steelo on the documentary From The Underground Up with Kev Hutch. Facts!
imam have to agree with all the thumbs up I first started with vinyl I am digital now like everybody else cuz it helps my back when I gig but I miss the creativity of cue points the lliveness of flipping a record than putting another on the platter it builds up crown momentum it is so classic the feel of working harder as a dj makin sure your cued and not click spin click timed click spin
I wish more people would wake up and remember what HipHop is all about.- Takin' sumthin from nothin and creating sumthin beautiful, FOR THE LOVE OV IT!!!!!!
He is one with the unit like I never seen before and I have been around along time he is a Grandmaster the way he takes the quarter beat and brings in the first beat then takes both beats back to the fourth beat then starts at another first beat is to the point wonderful only a few people (DJ'S) understand what I'm saying.
Jesus Christ that was soo fucking dope. 3:50, that shit is unheard of man, so tight. It's a shame he had to go, I'm glad I saw Scratch so I actually got into the X-Men.
First song - Run Dmc - Sucker Mc's Second song - Run Dmc - Peter piper Third song - Marley Marl feat. MC Shan - Marley Marl Scratch Fourth song - LL cool j - Get down
can someone please explain to me why this is good? i see a lot of other skratching videos where djs do something really fast like raida did in this video, but it doesnt sound melodic. is it great because of technique?
Chesaco, are you suggesting he can only perform those feats using those records? Have you checked out some of the other vids? It wasn't all "Get Down" by LL.
Would have loved to see this dude live. Woulda been even sweeter to challenge him! I wouldn't even care if I lost; just to compete against a DJ of THAT caliber would be uplifting for the soul. These guys are just like us & most of them want to be treated like that. I was talking smack to Premier backstage YEARS ago when I was younger & he told me he liked the fact that I wasn't intimidated by his stature,...BUT HE'D KILL ME ON THE SET!!!!! They we're once nobodies too!!!
To the announcer at the end...."It's original".....Indeed he was...There will never be another....RIP Grandmaster Roc Raida...
R.I.P Roc, you still one of the greatest.....your spirit leaves on, coz people still watch you like you here, and they always will.

Built to Scratch was the first hip-hop record I ever owned, I probably wouldn't be a turntablist without it.
