It was an art to be a dj with skills. I'm a dj since I was 15 I'm 51 now and still rocking the 1's and 2's..
These days with Bluetooth any body can be a dj. Make a play list and let it play there ain't no scratching or blending music any more...
Much love and respect to all the DJ's keeping it real...

He's embraced the evolving technologies and uses them as tools to continue building his arsenal of mad skills... therefore he will always be on top of his game no matter how he's doing things these days. • @woodywoodrin8588

Dj St3rling even though there's mistakes here and there, this brings back so many memories. Real talk, I remember when Grandmaster Flash and the furious five, Charlie Chase, Grand Master Caz and others came to Cali when I was stationed at Fort Irwin back in the 80s. I really wanted to battle Flash back then, not as a disrespect, but as a pupil who came up under him, wanting to pay homage. Back then when we battled it wasn't about disrespect, at least not ask the time. I've krewed up with some of the katz I battled. Yea, those were the days. Flash is having fun, and he's getting some rightfully deserved cash, because back then they weren't paying like they are today, so I'm glad to see the PIONEERS getting a piece of the pie. Real talk.

Turntables have always intrigued me. I was a kid in the 80's and my family listened to rock music. I only saw people playing turntables on tv, and my dad would kill me if I tried to recreated that with his albums.
Cut to adulthood, and I can play guitar and bass, keep a beat on drums, fumble my way around a keyboard, but never learned how to play turntables. Every time I see a DJ now a days, they have and ILM worth of computer equipment, and two faux-turntables. It's really interesting to see just how much goes into playing with a basic mixer and using two actual records at the same time. I kind of want to buy an old school set up like that and see what I can come up with.

THAT'S WHY A DJ TODAY, DOESN'T REALLY NEED TO BE CALL, A DJ. THIS IS WHAT A DJ IS ALL ABOUT. REAL THING, NOT FAKE, NOT DOWNLOADING FROM INTERNET, TH-cam, AND ESPECIALLY, NOT COPYING OTHERS MUSICS, CUTTING NUMBERS, ALBUMS, SONGS, ETC, ETC.....
THE WORST PART IS THAT THEY GET RECOGNITIONS, CAUSE THEY WORK AT CERTAIN RADIOS STATIONS. I'M A DJ FROM OLD SCHOOL AND I LEARN FROM OTHERS, CAUSE THAT'S WHAT WE DO, BACK THEN.
NOW, IT'S A COMPETITION OF WHO YOU KNOW TO GET YOU ON A RADIO STATIONS, GIG OR EVERYWHERE. SAD PART IS, THEY CAN'T DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS, NEVER. UNLESS THEY COPY, SOMEBODY. NOT TO MANY ORIGINAL. SOMEBODY ASK ME FOR A TRIAL TO SEE AND THEY WANT ME TO BRING, ALL ORIGINAL MUSIC THAT I TRY TO GET ON ORIGINAL CD'S, SO THEY CAN RECORD THEM. I TOLD THEM: "YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY FOR MY COLLECTIONS. I TOLD THEM, YOU EVEN HAVE SOME CD'S THAT I RECORD FOR A FRIEND AND YOU RECORD THAT, FROM HIM. THAT'S THE REASON THAT I DON'T COPY TO NOBODY, MY COLLECTIONS.

The Difference in my opinion is.... Rap is UnStructured Words Wrapped in A loop. mostly untalented People.. hip-hop is a underground Movement made main stream . by record labels such as Legendary Def Jam And Arista hip hop tells stories and is articulate writing told with a Rhyme and ........
