I don't know how many years I've been watching you guys, but this is one of my favourite episodes, just because of that close up of the joy on moog face.. amazing. Xx

It was tough seeing Moog so crestfallen after the ECU went pop in the last episode. And seeing Marty & the Commander get together to fix this for him and seeing his reaction was priceless. I don't like VWs but it isn't just about the car, it's the journey and this has been one helluva journey! Well done. This is the reason why MCM is the best car channel.
im happy to say that the VW enthusiasts around the world are truly excellent people. and i mean the TRUE enthusiasts, not the generic "i bought a gti so i cambered it with bbs and a roof rack." the guys who build em from empty shells, who engine swap, who really go nuts. that crew is all about making every vw out there as good as it can be. im proud to be part of that group for 25 years (literally, this year is my 25th anniversary in the vw addiction!)

Hands down my favorite channel on TH-cam. Just a couple of mates hanging out building cars together. While I may not be from Australia, nor can I help to donate any of my time to help with building any of the cars, I complete agree with what Marty said about having someone there, even if they aren't doing any work. It's not always about wrenching on a car, but just having someone to hang out with to make the process go a little better all the way around. Good times in deed. Like I said, I can't donate any of my time, but I did buy some merch! You guys are absolute legends! I can't wait to see what kind of nugget Marty got this time! (I mean that in a good way)
yes mate, the shit talking friend who always helps whilst stood there silently watching you fail. the are the ones who help you on a project the most haha! x
As long as your not flog and leave your bananas at home, you're more than welcome to come to Australia for an epic road trip. It'll be a trip of a life time.
"You don't necessarily have to have people to help you, want to feel like there's people get it" is one of the greatest sayings I've heard in a long time.
I understand the rollercoaster of a project and when it goes wrong like this one. I've had my nugget of a Porsche 944 since 2008 which had absolutely nothing working on it when I got it and today it's like a completely different car but still with a massive list of issues. I've had to walk away from it time and time again just to get some headspace and rethink a problem knowing full well that it's going to be the only thing I can think about until I get it sorted. Glad to see the little VW running again, you guys have an awesome friendship and Marty is a legend for getting this past the ECU hiccup.
It is hard enough for them to sell Atlas, Jetta and Golf in the states. If a sub-compact like the Polo would not sell and even a Fiat 500 was a commercial failure, I don't think there is a market for an UP! GTI or even a standard UP! for that matter. ☺
@worldhello1234 I agree completely, I just wish we could get them lol. I love my golfs I've had over the years, but smaller/lighter cars are just inexplicably more fun. That's why I got a Fiesta ST now instead of my gtis/ golf Rs. It's the closest thing we got to a small hot hatch lol
@sys-administrator that's fair, lol. To be honest, I haven't looked for mk8 R yet. But when I was shopping for my mk7 R, it was HARD to find a good R in manual. It seems most were specced in DSG. I got lucky with mine, the next closest one was 4 hours away, and a salvage title (written off on a head-on collision)
@@AngySumo I also own a fiesta st and yeah, it's pretty crazy how small cars just dont sell in most of the US. Over 70% of all new cars sold in the US in the last few years have been SUVs and trucks, which are so boring to drive. I also had to install flashing taillights on my fiesta because trucks kept nearly slamming into me at stop lights. The fiesta st is a great lil fun sporty car though and has a pretty surprising amount of interior space. I've hauled a lot of cargo in mine, lol.

Thank you guys for all the good times and all the efforts you put into making these videos.
Heck yeah congratulations guys! Way to go team, way to go internet, another excellent MCM win! Love the positivity and never give up attitude you all live and share every single video.
Mighty Car Mods is such an awesome thing. I feel happy every time a new episode is released because it shows you can have what you want if you persist and be ok with the 100 things that will go wrong in order to do it. Oh, and groups of people with the same goal who look after each other are a force. I'm not young and modding cars was easy in my youth. You just did it, no problem. The constraint on young people now means you have to be so determined to have what you want. But you can have it with some effort. Mighty car mods is so much more than cars.
I've been feeling absolute sh1t for Moog the whole damn time! I also love that the champ who came to the rescue has a name like "Miles" which is immediately car-related :D Talk about meant-to-be.
I feel your pain. Did a lot of work on my Mazda5 and did exactly what you did... I was so sad and it took me a few weeks to track down what I did and when I figured it out I immediately knew it was my fault. I'm back up and running and happy to see your on the same path! Good luck!
Probably my favorite part about this channel is seeing what these two friends do for each other. After seeing the disappointment from Moog in the last episode, seeing Marty (and friends) go above and beyond to surprise him with a fixed car today - wholesome content! Great stuff.
This is the best automotive channel on TH-cam...these two close friends and their merry band of help....and Moog just going for the hug to Marty....says it all about these gentlemen, best friends.
It’s mental you can’t buy one, you can’t import one… but you can get all the parts to make one!!! Pretty sure the UK has no restrictions on imports, as long as it has what’s needed to pass an MOT. Looking forward to the next project!!
australian import laws are a combination of a bunch of different laws from different areas of the government. Emissions stuff is super odd in australia because some of it isn't really based on logic, it's based on corporate interest. Then there's a bunch of import laws to protect the australia car market which barrs a bunch of stuff from entering the country. then there are some odd safety laws that come into play on what can be imported. It makes for a really tough place to import a vehicle that was meant for a different region.
On the back of the previous comment. We cannot bring certain cars if it has rust. Even surface rust cannot enter the country. There's alot of biosecurity laws. We could bring an Up! GTI under two special conditions. If the owner stayed in a certain country for a period of one year and can prove it or you can bring it in as a Race car only category.
Even though shipping is silly to the uk, knowing I’m supporting and helping them finance there dreams completely offsets the shipping. I look forward to ensuring whatever Marty has to offer at least makes smiles.
This made me so happy, everyone should have a mate like you both have in each other. Have thourghly loved watching you guys since the start, somehow feeling part of the journey! Legends! ❤

Awesome to see that have a happy end. As you could see the disappointment on Moogs face and so good to see him so happy when Marty got it going for him.
Damn a osmo action 4 would be a game changer for me. This is by far a stand out series, creating something unique despite others not seeing the value or reason behind it is what makes you a true car person
You fight stuff like this for pride. For bragging rights. But above all, you finish projects like this because of the things you learn, and how the things you learn change you And the next time disaster strikes, and your friends are all freaking out, you can say, "This? This isn't a disaster. It's just a Thursday." And that's a great feeling.
How good is it to open your subscriptions list and to see MCM has a little blue dot to let me know there's a new video... So good... Great work fellas.
Last episode was a super sad ending. Any car person could fully relate to that feeling. This episode I was smiling the whole time. Again, any car person knows that feeling of finally finishing that long and strenuous project. Well done mates! 👏👊

Betting the original ECU isn't 'dead'. Most of the control MOSFETs go to (reference) ground. Betting one or more of those got fried and they are easy to replace since they are surface mount devices (SMDs). Also cheap to purchase. I've repaired several Subaru ECUs this way.

(not to mention the work you do for reach out). x
This series feels so much like the OGs. I love that some things went wrong and you got the enjoyment of working it out. Cheers, fellas.
Friggin pumped you guys got it running again and got to do a 1st drive. It's a proper nugget and I can't wait to see what's next, well done mates. Everyone keep yourselves and love ones safe and healthy and remember to SMILE 😊God Bless 🙏
I was smiling the whole way through this video, your friendship is so wholesome.
Thank you for bringing us on your epic journeys I can honestly say after so many years watching you guys it feels like I almost know you personally and that's down to how you boys make your fans feel part of what your doing and your genuine enthusiasm.
Well done again lads and can't wait for you to do glorious battle in your nuggets.
Awesome to see the UP being fixed and so many people coming together and helping to get it fixed and brought back to life. So good to see all this. 😄😄😄☺
I just placed my first order to support the boys, I've been a fan of the content for years now but I've just managed to reach a place where I can afford buying random stuff, so here is my first purchase to support a youtube channel ever. Decided to go for the Turbos & Temples 3 book, definitely one of my top 5 videos of the channel and a Chopped Finger sticker to show my support around town, on my new (new to me) 2012 Mazda. Thank you guys for all the good times and all the efforts you put into making these videos.
Man, this is exactly what the world needs. Help everyone and anyone with what you have and what you can. Love that tiny VW.
I've been watching Mighty Car Mods since 2008 and have never been disappointed. Moog and Marty are true TH-cam legends!
Heck yeah congratulations guys! Way to go team, way to go internet, another excellent MCM win! Love the positivity and never give up attitude you all live and share every single video.
I sommer got emotional man! Marty, what a friend you are indeed! I'm so happy for you Mppg! Enjoy the little Up GTI NUGGET, and many safe Kilometers!
So fricken stoked to see the boys driving this!! Dont stop pushing.
I am LOVING the VAG content 💙
Everyone loves VAG. I've had 9 in my life over the years and 2 to choose from daily.
Marty you're an amazing guy and friend.
Thanks for being you!
Good luck!
Congratulations Moog on your UP! GTI, she’s a beauty
Love to see how happy you both are - especially following that last episode. Marty said it - things can only go up from there!
This made me so happy, everyone should have a mate like you both have in each other. Have thourghly loved watching you guys since the start, somehow feeling part of the journey! Legends! ❤
I laughed I cried you moved me 🙂 totally awesome how the community came together to help you guys, kudos to those who helped! And a well-deserved driver there did you see that smile. From the begging days of your TH-cam to now, you have come a long way great job! and as always Have a nice day.
I just purchased some stuff. Thanks to you and everyone who helps make the show happen.
Love this guys. Marty you are the bread bud! Really cool of you to fix this up for Blair. Sounds really good and looks really quick. Thanks for sharing your journey with us guys. Hope all is well!
Marty is one excellent friend. Great to see it running and the smile on Moogs face.
Outstanding. Good job Marty! The smile on Moog's face is gold. This car exceeded my expectations. What a ride!
That is Proper Brotherhood and Friendship right there!!! Happy to see this result after last episode! AWESOMENESS
For years now been following along, from the moms garage to now Super Garage, you guys have kept me interested in your builds. Keep it up.
What a roller coaster of emotions this build has been. Been here for every minute of it and love it all. Big VAG fan here. 😂
Congratulations! I'm so pleased that you've got it to work well done everyone! And how nice of your mates to get it done as a surprise! Awesome job! Go Up go! (I too am an Up driver mine is just a plane Up and I live in the UK so do aspire to a G.T.I. in the future.
This friendship should be the basis for the rest of the world. I know we've all said it plenty before, Love you guys! Yall are such inspirations!🫶
Your friendship is genuine and it shows.
This is by far the best car content channel on this planet called 🌎... no lies. Love the work you two Ausies do... love from South Africa
This is so wholesome. The world and the internet needs way more Marty & Moogs and their associated mates.
So stoked for you guys that you managed to get it going again without too much faff. Good on ya! Looking forward to seeing it on the track!
What an absolute King coming through with the software and workshop to smash out that finishing work. What a great mate, thats what makes working on cars awesome, everyone brings something to the table
So pleased you guys got this running and can finally enjoy it , ao good to uave friends like that to just jump in and help anyway they can 👍
Big UPs to Miles and Marty...🔥🔥
sometimes you just need 2 people by your side to make life BETTER...
Awesome to see that have a happy end. As you could see the disappointment on Moogs face and so good to see him so happy when Marty got it going for him.
Placed my order all the way from AMERICA. I’ve been watching you guys for years and years, love all that you do!
Phew, what a relief!!
Yay and well done 👍
Extra credit to Marty for pushing it over the finish, as well.
Well done guys. You're a fantastic example of friendship 👍
Congrats guys! Marty is a real one, so is Miles! Enjoy the car!
Can we just appreciate that this channel has been around for 15+ years and still manages to make great and enjoyable content!
Everyone needs a Friend like that in their corner!
Ordered myself a big mystery box! Thanks for the opportunity
The commander reviving the ECU like that was legendary, and Moog's happiness when the little Up was running, man. This was awesome!
Damn a osmo action 4 would be a game changer for me.
This is by far a stand out series, creating something unique despite others not seeing the value or reason behind it is what makes you a true car person
You fight stuff like this for pride. For bragging rights. But above all, you finish projects like this because of the things you learn, and how the things you learn change you
And the next time disaster strikes, and your friends are all freaking out, you can say,
"This? This isn't a disaster. It's just a Thursday."
And that's a great feeling.
How good is it to open your subscriptions list and to see MCM has a little blue dot to let me know there's a new video...
So good...
Great work fellas.
Everyone needs a friend like Marty 💜 legend!
Last episode was a super sad ending. Any car person could fully relate to that feeling. This episode I was smiling the whole time. Again, any car person knows that feeling of finally finishing that long and strenuous project. Well done mates! 👏👊
Order placed! First time order from me, but lucky enough to have a good friend that has ordered me something in the past! So added a goodie in my order for him also :D UP THE UP!
I think a lot of people would agree that we came for the car content but stayed for the friendship, absolutely what makes this Channel stand out from everyone else
Way to hang tough guys! Set a goal and achieve. Thanks for showing the good and the bad. (ECU Pop). It's what makes your content great. Thanks for all the work you put into the content.
Thank you for making the great Videos! I myself don't own a car as i live in a city. But love to watch and listen to you and learn new things and just enjoy it! The 24h race was insane, the offroad amazing and the mods on your cars are EPIC! Greetings from Switzerland!
Betting the original ECU isn't 'dead'. Most of the control MOSFETs go to (reference) ground. Betting one or more of those got fried and they are easy to replace since they are surface mount devices (SMDs). Also cheap to purchase. I've repaired several Subaru ECUs this way.
Possibly could be fixed by a pro, but a MED17.1.27 ECU was $200 from the Wreckers, With the Help of some friends this was the path of least resistance
Bloody brilliant, I absolutely needed good news today, and congratulations Moog, and thank you Marty and the team, today I found out a friend passed away from asthma attack, was only 23
I love watching the two of you work on the cars, but the reason I'm subscribed and never miss an episode is because you are genuinely excellent human beings. The world sorely needs more people like you!
What a journey it's been, so happy you got this littlt nugget working !
Enjoy driving it ! Can't wait for the next episode in this (or any other) epic series
Its a pleasure boi's.. I'm from South Africa... Give a shout-out buds.. 🎉
so glad this worked out man, enjoy your sweet new ride!
Best kind of surprise for a mate! Could tell how bummed Moog was after the ecu mishap. But this is what its about, mates
