For those who are curious, in Jamaica, the High School Boys 4x100 record is 39.08 set by Calabar High School in 2015.
I'll never forget that race. Soo much display of class and pure team chemistry
💯🇯🇲🔥🔥🔥🔥
High school kids in Jamaica is old than the typical high school American. This is due to sixth form meaning kids could be as old as 19. High schoolers in America are usually don’t at 17/18
@@shaynebarran3424but some of these guys running are 19 tho
@@blackzgaming2467this, a lot of American athletes seem to end high school a year later
When you don't break the 20+ year standing record only because it just happened that that same race someone beat that record by an even bigger margin 😂
Rai benjamin intensifies
😂
This ravens was crazy! Both 1 and 2 broke the National record
Damn they were moving moving😭. Them Texas high school’s are different
Preciate the love total production that’s my high school I graduated last year and I’ve been wanting you to cover us since my junior year ngl but I’m proud of my guys
3rd leg was underrated!!
facts, that young man murked the turn
Glad someone else noticed that. That kid got the baton behind the guy to his outside but was way ahead at the last hand-off coming out of the curve. I wonder what his best 200m time is?
Exactly what i said!!!
@@crosslink149321.08
I just looked at the video of the relay team that had the record 20 years ago. The last guy actually slowed down before the line because they had so much of a lead. And they was running in Lane 1 which is tough on the curves. And it was on a dirt track.
Imagine each of these high schools can only select athletes from their student body, in this case Atascocita has only 3,621 students. Even a college would have upwards of 20,000 older students and can (do) recruit the best from across the world.
In California they allow students to go to any high school in the school district they live in. It can result in an occasional concentration of sprinters (T&F) or distance runners (CC) in one school. Nope, that did not happen with distance runners at Newberry Park or Great Oak over the last decade, that was pure coincidence.
@@crosslink1493 Just a side note, because I work here; if you include the entire Conejo Valley Unified School District that contains Newbury Park High School, that is barely over 6,600 high school students. That is closer to the staff size of any major university, rather than their student population.
these werent selected from the student body though thats why they put the record so far out there other schools didnt purposely transfer athletes in
Yes most Schools going down to lower D1 and good D2 schools have more students then a big high school like Atascocita. I know in mid 2000's my high school TF Riggs in Pierre (Pier) had a guy who could have been an Olympic sprinter Quincy Chrisie if his school did not beyond 💯% force spring football training once going D1. He dropped his lesser scholarship. In smaller new AFL, Areana games of his first and only season Quincy hurt himself so bad I am not sure he can even walk anymore. 190 pounds is a bit small for even arena, was fine for D1 NCAA special teams and trick play running back but he was a bit small even for a smaller New AFL/arena league and was nearly quadriplegic for life as he could not move right away and had to be stretchered off the field.
Hell! Both #1 and #2 ran stupid fast times that don’t make sense!!!
Duuuude that anchor was flying. I know he had a good indoor season but seeing him anchor like this was impressive
Football at LSU next year
@@davidblanchard1611track star at LSU next year, he doing both, not just football.
Tough to tell with the endless edits during the race, but that pass from leg 2 to 3 looked great. Then runner 3 put a move on curve and got ahead of Duncanville. Fair pass from 3 to 4, but the baton was moving at that point. Man, Texas has been cranking out great HS relays for decades.
Let’s shout out whoever record such good footage at a high school race!! 👏👑
Both anchors playing football for LSU next year
Ayyyy I raced track at Rice! So much Deja Vu in this video. I broke 4 on that track!
Wait a minute you broke 4 minutes in the mile!? That is an incredible achievement! Nice work man! I'm trying to break 5 minutes this season, I ran 5:19 just yesterday and THAT seemed difficult, and 5 minutes would be even HARDER. 4 minutes seems close to impossible!
@@Bweyg it was a long time ago. April 2011, 3:54.60. I ran 4:43 in 7th grade lol
@@Shanham617 Still that's incredible! I'm a junior in high school right now but I would love to break 4 minutes one day, and I'm going to keep going at it.
@@Bweyg you will do it
@@Shanham617 Thanks man
That is a crazy time. I remember back in the day, running it in 41 seconds was extremely fast and would place in a State Meet. They must have atleast 3 runners running 10.5 or under in the 100 meters.
The entire top 10 list is Texas schools. 8 from the Houston area and 2 from Dallas/Fort Worth
Breaking a record just to not win must be a bitter sweet moment 😂
Thank U thank U for another amazing video again!!!
Also I want to reiterate that TEXAS is a haven of world class athletes. Even some of our middle school/ Jr. High athletes are competitive internationally. My Hine town just hosted a track meet named after Deion Minor 400m specialist. A high jumper from the local school broke the state high jump record and then broke his own record that same meet.
Watkins is a focused young sprinter. My wife and I have enjoyed watching him compete fiercely with Duncanville, San Antonio Rebels and others. It's always a good show at any sport in TEXAS, but this young man had been progressing steadily each year.
My hats off to ya Yung Watkins.
Thnx for this excerpt for yet smother amazing TEXAN who is lighting the track on fire 🔥
Peace N Love
Perfect handoffs.
EXACTLY! Was looking a comment like this. For a very fast Relay time - ALL 4 handoffs need to be great or perfect.
To break a record like this, not only do have to run like the wind, but you also have to have nearly perfect exchanges. Amazing!
What about the third place team? Didn't they just miss the 40 second barrier and produce one of the best times ever as well? A little respect to them too please! 😅 Amazing race!!
Who gives a damn about 3rd place
Great run! That anchor was absolutely FLYING! But... A sprint record standing for 25 years is ridiculous. Next-Level running. Who was on that Wyatt squad in 1999?
Each leg ran brilliantly, Front side mechanics & clean exchanges … was a pressure meet 😤
Lee's young man are going into video game times. Yes I called the Great Ato bolden! This is crazy 😧😮
I just heard him say that on an NBC radio playback clip for Bolt and I thought it was funny. Like ya he’s not lying.
I went to high school in Texas in 1990. Things may be different now, but there are two things to note. They can be as old as 21 and still compete. Many schools get away with illegal recruitment. My school got caught 😂.
Nobody is 21 competing in High-school sports anywhere in the US. Stop lying clown
Sprinting USA's future looks promising; to both teams, well done gentleman, well done
I live in Atascocita. They are NOT a prep school. They are a public high school.
Three off top ten ran that 4x100 Arascocita,Duncanville, Tompkins Texas don't play everything we do is big
How much have the Jamaicans upset American sprinters? They've given them a 10 year depression .
Crazy for being HIGH SCHOOL!!!!
All of the teams on the top 10 list are from Texas. Eight of them from the Houston area.
Third leg is actually a 800m runner but bro is godly on the curve in the 4x1
Those guys were really moving!
A breakdown of the splits would be good.
Athletic is one of the most underrated sport ever 😭
There's something weird about that Rice track. I ran many track meets there as a kid 20 years ago and it always felt like a short track
That should be investigated. I’d love to see an analysis of how many PRs or top 5% race times are attributed to this track?! 🤔 You could be on to something…
@@Llowin2 no one runs PRs on rice track its slow as heck and not made for sprinters. heck i only saw one guy break 10.5 last year on that track and it was a 10.45
Their baton changes were so smooth
Wow the top 10 fastest US times are from Texas! Surprised because I figured Florida and California would have some entries! Go USA
That Team Needs Some Milk ❤
3rd leg was smoking too🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wow, 38.92 is an outstanding time even for NCAA division I schools!
While we do appreciate your attempt to pronounce the school name with a Spanish accent, no one around here says it that way. Otherwise, top notch video as always !
Jelani Watkins attended Klein Forest, had no idea he transferred to atascotica
Hell the 3rd place team also tied fo the 9th best time all time. So, you had the 1st, 2nd, and 9th best time ALL-TIME in one race. Thats nuts
It's crazy how many Texas schools are in this top 10.
Superstar😂. These athletes should be paying this guy for the amount of hype he applies to them.
Alltime-athletics lists this as tied for the 2357th best. Scanning the names of some of those teams tied with this over history you see a virtual who's who of sprinting. Don Quarrie (who I got smoked by about that same time), Ron Brown, Donovan Bailey, Tim Montgomery (yeah he was dirty), Ato Boldon and Christian Coleman.
Wish they would have a state vs state relay team. Best in each state go at it
🔥🔥
I went to high school in Texas, making it out of regionals was an accomplishment.
Maybe this has something to do with the new passing zone rule where you can now get the baton anywhere between the fly zone and the end of the passing zone so the fastest guys can run a little farther?
Maybe you dont know what the hell you are talking about, damn
One thing you learn from High School T&F Texas team doesn’t play around. I went to Texas Relay back in 2008 and OMG they are fast fast 🙃 😂
Yeah they were flying
All them Texas boys on SARMS. Next please
SARMS??
Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators. Easy to take orally, easy to source online and cheap. Basically steroids but likely less healthy. Probably lots of high school kids taking them for sports and whatever also likely to cause a rash of health issues down the line. High school kids don't get tested for this stuff.
Impressive
seeing TRP talk about these guys is getting too close to home man 😂 Houston putting on like they always do
Incredible….. Just once they should find a way to bring those Texas Florida and Georgia kids to the Penn Relays.
The district and state meets are usually going on at the same time as the Penn Relays
Yea maybe get some real times on them outside of texas😂
last leg was 8.98 apparently 💀
Crazy
Amazing race, but both anchors invade the outer lane, they could have been disqualified.
It's actually crazy how high school kids run faster than world records of the women's 400m relay. Then you have people saying gender doesn't matter in sport
Wild race
Yo @totalrunningproductions a runner just broke the 800m high school record. Btw he obliterated the record.
8 teams under 40 secs. (Not 2)!
He was showing all time high school 4x100 times in that clip. Don’t get it mixed up buddy.
My bad, thanks bro
A CORRECTION IS NEEDED. The 2022 NCAA 4x100 rankings has 2023 in the headline. Great work though. As Always...
I want to know what the last leg time was. He exploded!!
Bro finally made a video on jelani
you are wrong. the record is 39.0 set by Calabar at Penn relays. These guys would have to run a perfect race again at Penn relays to beat the Jamaican teams. the Jamaicans are faster foot speed and will match any handoff that this high school guys did. So match up they would have a hard time beating the Jamaican teams. See the Jamaicans high school run in two sections. under 17 and under 20. Some of the school fastest runners do run under 17. SO when they combine their fastest teams it will be much faster than their high school champs . So expect these guys will run sub 40sec. if the weather is right. Jamaica high school I don't see running sub 39. but I don't think this team will run sub 39 at a Penn relay into the weather condition in Philly either. One thing the Jamaicans are very good at is baton change, they will match those change over very easily.
Who is Cal State Fullerton?
i was there
Texas becoming quite the sprint Mecca.
I wonder if he/they play football in the fall. Here in California football coaches 'recruit' the fast sprinter kids at the local intermediate school track meets to play football in HS, and a lot of the time high school is year-round football-specific training only, no spring track season.
@crosslink1493 always has been. California, Florida and Texas usually have good spirits on this side of the US. I know NY and NJ have good teams I just don't get to see them much
both 1st and 2nd place anchor legs are signed to LSU football@@crosslink1493
What was the drug testing policy?
4x100 is NOT a 100M race...
Thought this was going to be another click bait by trp but nah this was actually crazy
3rd leg was smokin
When will we get distance running news because, honestly, sprint events are boring.
Weren't they recruited for this team, most high schools just have to work with what they have. Not taking anything away from their achievements, just asking.
Bad clock or start placing?
Damn are ALL the top high schools in Texas
There were quite a few impressive performances at this meet. Boys and girls 3k times were legit.
cool music
Say, waaaaaat
Cal State Fullerton?
Unnecessary jelani watkins glaze
But still good content
The Watkins kid an be great in the sprints if he gives up football. Doing both in collage doesn't work today like in Bob Hayes time. Football requires heavy weight training meaning you put o n weight an lose flexibility
👍💪
To be fair, there is no drug testing in HS so although this is amazing, I don't put much weight into non tested HS performances considering how easy nowadays to get TRT.
Must be the new shoes, this kind of improvement should not be possible.
Stop joking
@@mertholomy8414 He's being realistic. The shoes do have something to do with it!
@@stephenwilliams7200 shoes don’t make a tremendous difference in time
the shoes help very little, most of the national records were posted before super spikes and even some of the pros run the fastest times without them@@stephenwilliams7200
The shoes do make a huge difference! The same as indoor track before the banks became widespread! Yes I ran at the armory when it was still flat!
By the way the “cita” is not pronounced like it is Spanish 😂
What was their previous fastest time ? If there is suddenly a huge improvement, well, then something wrong here. Clock malfunction ? Roy b, CapeTown south africa 🇿🇦

Maybe Jelani becomes first high school student athlete to legally run under 10🤷🏿♂️
Better check between them toes
Look at the last exchange? The last runner steps out of his lane. The time they break this time, should count as the national record not this one
Nah he didn’t. Just looks like he hit the line
Was an anti-doping test performed?
Something seems fishy here. Check their piss and their birth certificates
? They’re the right age

Unsubscribing and blocking. Tired of this format of "OH MY GOD UNBELIEVABLE" that you are putting in the title. Stop it. Just report what is going on and stop trying to sensationalize everything, cripes you are better than that.
I don’t understand he told us something crazy and 100 m and you show a picture of the athletes in the starting blocks, but then you go on to describe a 400 m relay. You truly are screwed up.
How old are they?
Living in the uk I don’t know the age of an American “High Schooler”
Watkins is 18, idk about the others
We need these guys at Penn Relays to silence the Jamaican crowd occasionally
