That’s a great video. I’ve rebuilt many thousands of calipers in my day to include many Brembo ones. You rebuilt them spot on! Way better than any of the big box professional companies could ever imagine. Great job!
The problem with anodizing parts is the process of preparing the part for anodizing it etches away a very thin layer of your base material. So the part actually gets a tiny bit smaller. Does not really matter most times, BUT when you are dealing with precision spaces like piston bores or threaded holes all of a sudden those tolerances are out of whack as the threads will be to loose and the piston bores will be to big for the piston as well. Just be careful and talk to your anodizer about what happens to your clearances after the anodization takes place.
Man... for such a plain lookin' dude, this guy does not fuck around. I really thought this was gonna be another dupicolor caliper spray paint video. Bravo man! Showing the right way to get it done.
You talked about painting the Hell Wagon blue, I saw a Tundra Pickup that was a blue like I had never seen before. It was a special order called Colonial Blue. You might check it out it’s a real eye catcher.
While I'm honestly not a fan of glow-in-the-dark stuff, you did great work resurrecting those calipers! Going to keep watching to see how the rest of this crazy build progresses.
Nice work, The calipers are as good as new again. Might be beneficial to spray your power-coat in a cabinet so that you don't get the spray drift that was noticeable in the video.
Cant believe the guy anodizing your calipers isn't wearing safety glasses. I've worked in the plating and surface treatments industry for 20 years. Ive seen plenty of accidents were individuals have near lost their eyesight because of a splash. Surprised if his insurance will even allow it.
That's a great idea! I worked in a powder coating factory and we only used high temp tape and silicone plugs, but for home projects I love that idea. I imagine silicone grease would work too since it shouldn't melt and slide until higher than oven temp.
They came out sick. Can't wait to see them contrasting Ceramic Blue paint. :) Btw, was there a benefit to anodizing the calipers before powder coating them? I understand why you had the pots anodized.
Hey Dave, great video! I was wondering what was it you used to seal up the piston cavity. I need to sand blast mine but I don’t want to damage the area around the pistons. Thank you.
Im pretty sure ive had my calipers this hot and they still worked fine, they were stripped and painted with engine paint supossedly good for 1200* but the paint bubbles and came off after the second track weekend but still worked fine. I know my rotors were glowing and could see them red in daylight so they were dammit hot, installed brake ducts after that and still no issues with the ugly calipers though. How long does the paint glow after being charged in daylight/flashlight?
Hey you removed the piece where the bolt screw into how was it and what is that piece called? I have a broken bolt in mine and might need to replace it if i cant get it out
Keep up the great work Dave. Don't understand how come you don't have 500k followers yet.. your builds are awesome well informed and you respond... can't wait to see this monsters first launch...
Hey man i just sent in my brembos to get sand blasted, the tech ended up sandblasting the cylinder boars and pistons can they be saved? If i hone the cylinder and polish the pistons?
@@Junkyard_Dave im in Mexico Rebuilding my SRT, ive tried looking for cerakote but cant seem to find any shops that do it, is there any other way to repair them?

Came out nice! I like the rubber freeze plug trick. Anybody who thought all these calipers were toast doesn't seem to know much about calipers.
Even the brembo rep was like yeah they are still good
@@Junkyard_Dave Haha that's awesome. Just keep showing people when they're wrong I guess!
11:45 Dave carves a frog out of Brembo caliper! Amazing!
Awesome video Dave. You don’t see people take time to rebuild calipers anymore. Lost art. Keep it up ✌️💪👍💯

Excellent job saving those brembos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome man I just rebuilt a set for my buddy’s Subaru Forester and turned it into a sti version with a built forged engine.

Lexus blue that Trevor was going to use on the Supra. With yellow calipers 🔥
Thanks for helping out Jose
I think that they will be looking much better when glowing, if you add the brembo logo back again

Great work as usual Dave!!!! Keep it coming!
Can you share a link to the seal kit you used on the rebuild.
Freakin love the color you chose for these. And kudos to rebuilding them, don't see that very often anymore.

They look brand new. Color is great.
Not too many people on yt do it like you dave. Dope vid fasho.
The calipers looks awesome and amazing!
I want to do mines in red. Great Video Dave!
We call the “halo” the radioactive glow
Nice job. But trust me, living where there salty calciumy winter roads is way worst

Good work small stuff like this I enjoy watching
Look outstanding, good work Dave. 👌
My grandmother would KILL me if I were rebuilding brake calipers on her counters!!! HaHa!!!
Dude , that was a killer color bro 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I love powder coating.....I have used chapstick or vasoline in the past to protect some surfaces from being coated FYI

That should contrast well with the Charger if you are painting the car blue(B5 blue would be nice). Great job!
Hey Dave, can you show us the interior of the car? You changed it around, but what did you finally decide to use. Thanks for sharing.

The anodization was just for piston sliding surfaces I am guessing it reduces binding under higher temps
They look really good.
They look insane!
Dave, when you use the impact be careful, because i strip the thread out of my brake caliper.
I’ll be sending you multiple sets of calibers for the glow in the dark coating
WHAT?! GLOW IN THE DARK??!! That's so cool hahahaha!!!!
how do you remove the hard anodize from the bores without damaging them?

The rubber freeze plugs you can get them at parts stores
@@Junkyard_Dave Thank You

Way to go you got this.
Need you to come do my calipers like that...
Dave, have you ever tried to overlay 3D images of the Challenger and Dodge Magnum rear? It should help to create a "mold" of the new rear of the car!
I know this was a couple years ago, but do you have a part number for that rebuild kit?
I’m rebuilding my trackhawk caliper, where did you get the seals at??
What gun is that? Also fix the cp for the oven it looks dingy
Nice job.
Good job
What r those things that u r using to cover the piston on the calipers ?
Single layer powdercoat? Brave. I would have gone 2 coats. At least.
Nice job brother...
What type of sand did you use?
nice job brother.... Keep it up
where did you buy your seal kit from?
Good going👍
So....
Blue wagon with glow in the dark calipers. Are you going to accent anything with the same powder coat or a paint that closely matches?
Probably valve covers it will go with the theme
