AfterworkReactions have been doing them for the past few weeks on his Patron. He's a few episodes away from completing season 3. He's also done 'In the Loop' as well.
I'm here in North London on a Saturday morning (@5.30 ish AM). Just got back on the tube, from being in the West End and still with friends, all drunk, still drinking and awake!!! Watching Connor, watching 'The Thick of It' - and still able to type... WOW!!! lol - REally hope you everywhere are having a goood time ???? XXXX
The old and young guys in Hugh's entourage are his party advisors and theres such a rivalry that expands as the series (what we call seasons) progress.
Armando Iannucci, who wrote this, is so freaking good at writing ensemble casts of men pretending they know what they're doing. See also, The Death of Stalin
Quick reminder, you're a reaction channel... Stopping, talking and REACTING to the videos you watch is what you should be doing.. So no need to apologise or try not to stop! Anyone who says otherwise is an idiot you should ignore! 😉
I agree. If they wanted to watch it without the comments and reaction then I'm sure people can do so. The whole point of a reaction channel is the reaction. I've seen most of these comedy shows countless times, but the reaction of someone seeing it for the first time is why I'm here. He should feel free to pause, chat, discuss, ask questions and generally react!
@@pwking100 That wasn't a harsh comment, it was a kind comment. It was saying "hey, feel free to pause the video and talk about it, because you are a reaction channel and that's your reaction"
@@pwking100 ah that's not harsh, he knows me well enough to know that is constructive criticism (and a memo he's had multiple times) he knows it deep down, but anxiety from people who complain, gets the better of him sometimes. So he gets a reminder every now and then.
Which was also created by Armando Iannucci. Absolutely brilliant writer and satirist. There was some 'Best UK TV Comedy Shows' thing on BBC once and he championed Yes Minister. So it clearly influenced him.
Of course he’s an MP, he just has the additional role of cabinet Minister (officially called minister of the crown even though it’s elected and has nothing to do with the royal family) in reality there is no minister for ‘social affairs’.
It’s just unique and side splittingly funny . Everybody gets the treatment , no person or minority is left out and that makes it inclusive and just so fkn funny 👍🏴
This show truly was Yes Minister 2.0. Both classics, and both still relevant with great writing and actors. Stick with it as it only gets better. Also a loosely connected film called In The Loop.
@@joeb2487 I'd forgotten that one! It was really good. Comedians often prove themselves to be very good actors in any genre. My favourite is David Jason in A Touch of Frost. Best TV cop ever.
Please do give more space to the video you are reviewing. I am missing out on the faces of the protagonists. You are the best reactionary out there from America always respectful and only pause when you have a valid point. We can enjoy alongside you.
It would be really great to stick with this one, and react to as many as you can or feel up to doing. It only gets better and better. The Thick Of It, Yes Minister (and Yes Prime Minister) and Fawlty Towers are about the best UK sitcoms (certainly as far as I'm concerned) of all time.
The key real world takeaway of this ep. and Malcolm's monologue near the end is that govts can and will twist reality to fit it's purposes as long as it has a compliant media.
I love the Female Office Character Terri, she works for the government department so can't get involved and looks down upon their party politics that take up valuable time.
It's a superb series. And I say that as someone with senior comms experience in the Govt. Malcolm Tucker in this series is a fictional version of Alastair Campbell, who was the extremely powerful communications director of Prime Minister Tony Blair's strong leadership of the UK in the late 1990s and 2000s. It taps into how Alastair, despite not being an elected politician, was effectively the Blair's right hand man (along with Deputy Prime Minister Gordon Brown) and held huge power. Tony Blair himself was hugely effective for years, effectively being a left wing (but almost centrist) version of the widely respected Maggie Thatcher. But, when he eventually lost his leadership, his reputation was dropping amid allegations that he put media spin above truth - not least because he very quickly sent the UK to join the Iraq war based on false evidence of Saddam Hussein having weapons of mass destruction, So, really, the Thick Of It is about what happens when spin controls politics and has a strong precedent in reality. Characters like Terri Coverley are civil service (so are government, but neither the politically elected nor judicial part of it). She's a civil service press secretary, hence why she's more about running stories basically rather than with added political spice. UK govt, of course, is famous for that mutual strength, and tensions, between political and civil services procedures etc.
There’s only like 3 episodes per season of the thick of it and the second episode of season one is SO much BETTER! Legit excited for episode two! You’re the first American reacts to British stuff to do this series and one of the many reasons you my favourite. You’re better than JPS FOR SURE.
Connor you need to know this show started at the very end of Blair & Brown's New Labour years. The relationship between Number 10 and Number 11 (The Treasury) had all but broken down. Blair was sitting in the PM seat trying hard to destroy the country and Brown was fuming with anger because they made a pact that he should succeed Blair long ago as they agreed when buddying up for the 1997 general election.
I’ve never seen anyone do a full reaction to this show so I’m excited to see this.
Watch them all start copying him after this it happens everytime one of them does something new haha

Me too!!
I know there's going to be references he didn't get but it sounds like he loved it. This makes me very happy.
This show only gets better and better
Possibly the best written comedy I’ve ever watched.

Just last night I searched for The Thick Of It reactions - it's great to see someone actually watch the series.
I'll add my strong recommendation to continue with this series. It's easily in my top 5 comedy shows ever made.
The old and young guys in Hugh's entourage are his party advisors and theres such a rivalry that expands as the series (what we call seasons) progress.

I’ve watched the show about 5 times and it’s hilarious each and EVERY time
"Eat the f#cking cheese Nicholson!" One of my favourites

The Thick of It is literally hillarious and the natural succession to Yes Minister. The equivalent US version would be VEEP.

I actually worked for the Fraud and Error Prevention Service for a couple of years
Love that you're doing 'The Thick of It'. Can't wait to see you react to more episodes.
This was fun, I hope you do some more episodes.
Springy concrete has really hit the fan ,right now

I love how funny you found this! It is one of my favourites. Unfortunately it is a very accurate representation of UK politics 😂
This series is really funny. Has some very well written dialogue. Stick with it!
I loved the cleaner hoovering.
Keep watching The Thick if It, I am here for this.
There's also the film_length version in London and the States Inc Gondolfino the Sopranos star. 😂
Yes although very confusing as many of the characters are different, though played by the same actors.
I love this show 💜 Peter Capaldi is genius/Malcolm Tucker is terrifying! -x-
The national spare room database has been done and taxed for !!
One of my favourite shows 😃
More The Thick of It please!

Nah - forget The Inbetweeners - go with _this_ show - it's much better.
This show survived Chris Langham leaving after his computer was found to be stuffed with kiddie porn. Few shows could manage that.
watch wolf hall, thats only 5parts and its a masterpiece.
Probably a real description of how governments work.
Joanna Scanlon (the lady playing Terri) co-wrote an absolutely brilliant series called Getting On. Peter Capaldi directed the first two seasons.
She was also in No Offence which I thought was brilliant
