  • Let's take a Honda CRF450X trail riding out in the hills of Wildomar OHV! ****** Check out my recommended (and budget friendly) riding gear here! ➡️ bit.ly/ea-links
    Since my Yamaha TTR230 is down for a while, my buddy Matt let me take his Honda CRF450X trail riding out in the hills of Wildomar OHV. The Honda CRF450X is an awesome bike to say the least. It's extremely powerful, but it's not uncontrollable once you get used to it. I had initially that riding a bike with so much power in a rather tight trail situation would be somewhat of a struggle, but the Honda CRF450X left me pleasantly surprised at the end of the day. Join me for a few loops around Wildomar OHV for some great riding with some great people. Enjoy!

    Got my first scratches on my bike from Bloody Jersey going down that hill. Other than that it's a fun place to ride at even in the triple digits!

      Hahah! I am assuming you made it down all the way? I tried going up it a long time ago and it didn't go over very well. I really want to try going down next time I am up there. The ranger told us later that day that they are planning on making a bypass route so you can go all the way around the park without actually going down the hill. That would be a nice addition to that area!

    your skills have gotten better 👌 to be honest i dont watch videos to listen a given topic i watch then to hear the bike and see the views and trails , some times i do like what is being talked about but am most captivated if talking was about the trail conditions ( trees look nice today ) or (Crap that is rutted as f$%k)
    and just have fun riding 😁
    if you want to talk about a subject then you do it , IT IS YOUR CHANNEL 😉👍 (i will still watch and listen )
    PS you put up any footage ( talking or no talking and i and most others WILL watch)
    keep well Mate and stay safe😉🍺

    Good video. Dirt bikes were a great way to deal with Covid.

    The 450x pulls and pulls. It’s like hanging on a pull up bar the whole ride. It’s the torture and weight that is punishing.
    2nd and 3rd gear are the sweet spot on trails like that. Trust the suspension and it does what it’s supposed to do.
    If you take it to Ocotillo Wells or an open desert like that, you will know what it’s designed for. That bike can run 80-90mph across the desert all day.
    Thanks for the video, much appreciated l!

      Hahah! Yeah it definitely pulls. I was surprised at how controllable it was for tight trails like this. I had ridden it once before but the terrain was much more open. Glad you enjoyed the video! 😊

    I'm looking for a used 450x currently. I was glad to hear your thoughts on it as I have a similar riding level and experience as you. What model year is this 450x?

    • @EachAdventure

      Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I believe it’s a 2005 model. It’s an awesome machine!

    Of course a full video comparing your beta 390 to the Honda 450 would be nice if you have time, but in the interim, would you please reply to let me know your thoughts about the differences, is the 450 really that much more of a beast, than a 390?

    • @EachAdventure
      @EachAdventure  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't feel that the 450 had any more power than my Beta 390 does. I am willing to bet that the Beta 390 actually puts out close to the same HP as the Honda 450 does based on the comparisons that were done between the Honda 450L and the Beta 430. On a strictly cost basis and depending on weather or not you need a plate, there are a lot more Honda 450X's out there than the Beta 390's. A comparison would be a good idea once I have a bit more seat time on both. Thanks!

    Thanks for the vid Josh. Just to digress a little I'm thinking of buying a new CRF 450L but have heard mostly all the 450's have oil dilution problems with fuel prominent in the crankcase. Has the owner of the one you rode mentioned this at all?

    • @EachAdventure
      @EachAdventure  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      He has never mentioned it to me before, but he did have some issues when he first bought it (its a 2005) and did a full top end replacement. I was just doing some quick searching on the issue, and it seems to me that if you aren't racing it and following the recommended maintenance intervals it shouldn't be much of a problem. I believe the 450L recommends oil changes every 600 miles or so, so depending on how you use it thats every few rides.

      @@EachAdventure Thanks for the reply and info Josh. Interesting part is that not all 450's suffer from it but the models that don't seem to be the exception. Most owners have reported the issue at some time or another and with varying degrees of severity and to this day the exact cause remains elusive. Some say a faulty injector, others a temperature issue or rings/piston defect. Honda seems to be more on the side of rider fault/input, unsurprisingly. Looking at one of the forums some guy installed a shut off valve between the pump and the injector which he said fixed the problem but he sells the valves on Ebay so his credibility was questionable apparently. The bikes are expensive ++ here in NZ, $16,000-ish so a little wary now after reading about this problem.

  • @BaronBoar
    @BaronBoar 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How is that bike? Any good? Other than the top end problem the bike originally had, has this bike been solid?

    • @EachAdventure
      @EachAdventure  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So far so good! It is my buddies bike and I ride with him pretty often, and he hasn't had any issues with it other than the stuff he repaired/replaced when he bought it used. For a performance based engine, things like top end rebuilds are going to be needed at some point in time.

    • @BaronBoar
      @BaronBoar 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EachAdventure good to know. I heard some of them had valve problems. Maybe the bikes that were having problems were being raced without being properly broken in.

    • @msaul85
      @msaul85 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So you are correct, the CRF450X has titanium valves that are coated with a hard coating. Once that coating goes, the valves are shot. When I did the top end, I replaced the valves with stainless steel valves from a Honda TRX450 which should last the remainder of the bike.

    Were you on 1st gear the whole time?

    • @EachAdventure
      @EachAdventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably never got out of third here. The trails are extremely tight and there’s not much room to open it up beyond that.

    Do you have to have a spark arrestor to ride this?

    • @EachAdventure

      Yes. Spark arrestors are pretty much required anywhere that is public land. This specific area is inside national forest boundaries. Thanks for watching!
